: My experiences with GSM
I have an ongoing thread elsewhere about my experiences with GSM, and thought it would be beneficial for my fellow cherokeeSRT8.com members to also post my experiences here.
Around the 20th of May, I ordered the GSM Ram Air Intake for the SRTGC. On the 24th of May, I received a .pdf copy of my (paid) invoice, that included my UPS tracking number. They were shipping via UPS Ground, so I gave them a week before actually checking the tracking info. When I finally did check, it stated that the package was scheduled to be returned to GSM for some reason. Well, after a few calls and emails, I finally spoke with someone at GSM, and they apologized profusely. They could not explain what had happened, but they were certain that my order had never shipped and that I had to wait for a bit longer for the next shipment of the intakes to be received at GSM. After a couple of more weeks of back and forth, I called on a Friday to check on the status. It was also the week that the Magnaflow exhaust was released. I asked GSM to add the Magnaflow exhaust to my order. They said no problem. They'd throw my intake in the box with the exhaust. Remember.... this was a Friday. On Tuesday of the next week (only 2 business days) I received the exhaust, but still no intake. Had the exhaust installed the next day, and it rocked. I LOVE it.
Finally, on June 23 (over 1 full month after ordering), I received the intake. The box included the heat shield, the tube (chrome/stainless in color.... not the silver like I wanted and was advertised), the elbow connector, 3 heat shield lids that were emblazoned with GSM MOTORSPORTS, the cone filter, 3 adjustable hose clamps, and a baggy with several bolts, washers, a lock washer, a rubber bushing, and zero nuts. There was a color instruction packet that included color photos, but what GSM considers 'step by step' instructions, were merely a few pictures of an open hood, and nothing more.
I have installed probably 10-12 CAI / FIPK ktis in the last few years and they are all very much the same in install process, so I wasn't too worried about the horrible instruction sheet. It was the baggy of whatever GSM found on top of their tool cart that day that threw me off. The heatshield is not fastened sufficiently (if you use what they sent), and the attaching point on the intake tube does not properly align with the mounting point in the heat shield. I was able to make it work, but I sure hope the heat shield lid was supposed to fit better than it does.
After over an hour of hassling with the install, calling GSM 4 times (AND being told by an employee there that "Nobody has ever had any kind of problem installing this unit before" (which is TOTALLY false, based upon fellow SRT owners posts on another forum), AND using all my own mounting hardware, the intake was installed.
Once installed, I realized that the water shield that was supposed to be included in the kit, was absent. I immediately called again, and left a message about the shield. I assumed that first thing on Monday I'd receive a phone call apologizing, and telling me that it would be sent overnight to me. Hahaha..... wishful thinking. That was nearly a month ago, and I have STILL not received a phone call or the shield. On two occasions, in the other forum, a GSM representative has posted that he *personally* would get the shield out to me immediately, as well as getting the tracking information to me "first thing Monday (yesterday) morning".......
...... still nothing.
GSM appears to have great products, but to date, I have only seen one person hail their customer service. I am really shocked and disgusted with GSM's lack of concern for their customers.
Based on my experiences, they deliver incomplete products, with a poor excuse for installation instructions, and have among the worst customer service I have ever dealt with in the automotive aftermarket industry. I've been a member of SEMA (as media) for the last 3 years, and have been involved with automotive aftermarket equipment (as a consumer, a tester, a sponsee, and as unbiased media) for nearly 15 years.
I hope other people have a better experience with GSM than I did!
candyman 07-18-2006, 12:08 PM Thanks for taking the time to relate your experience with GSM. I was going to buy one of their CAI's but after hearing of your problems I think I'll go with Volant when they are available.
ResumeSpeed 07-18-2006, 06:39 PM ...On two occasions, in the other forum, a GSM representative has posted that he *personally* would get the shield out to me immediately, as well as getting the tracking information to me "first thing Monday (yesterday) morning".......

So much for that "personal" touch. I find it hard to believe that the missing part is not sitting in your hands as we speak. I read the thread where Scott promised it would be shipped July 5th and then the follow-up that said it would be shipped yesterday. It would have taken 5 minutes max to get the part out. I also don't understand why your other issues were not addressed, i.e. the bolts and mis-fitting parts. You can add me to the list of people who will never deal with GSM.
I can't believe the amount of problems and issues I have read about lately with automotive vendors. It's amazing that some of them stay in business, I can only imagine the amount of business that is lost due to situations, like yours for example, than can so easily be solved.
I've always believed that if a company cannot handle the "little stuff" to NEVER trust them for the "big stuff".
I've always believed that if a company cannot handle the "little stuff" to NEVER trust them for the "big stuff".
VERY well said!
split2112 07-19-2006, 01:11 PM I understand that everyone has different experiences and opinions, but just as a note to anyone who cares, my interaction with GSM was flawless. They went out of their way to help me out and accomodate my needs for my CAI. Even though they were super busy moving locations, they helped me until i was completely satisfied.
I thought they were great....just my two cents though.
No-- that is excellent to post that. I think you hit the nail on the head, everyone has different experiences, and I hope more people have good ones. But I felt obligated to post my experiences so at least they are known.
radduc 07-19-2006, 02:15 PM I have purchased the ESP/fan mod,Ported and polished Heads and intake, magna flow exhaust, and the cold air intake.I want to start out by saying that these performance upgrades all working together are truely AWESOME!!! Scott has always taken the time to help me with any install questions I have had.I truely beleive that there products are second to none.I did also have some shipping problems with them as I later found out they we in the middle of moving shops.Guy's we have all moved and know how crazy it can be,let alone moving a business and keep track of what has gone out and what has not.Never the less I called scott and let him know that I didn't receive what was suppose to have gone out a week ago.He appolgised and made sure I received everything I ordered. In fact he did not charge me for the cold air intake and sold me the Magna Flow at quite a discount.Scott,i really appreciate you taking the time to go over everything with me and make it right. We all mess up now and then, the difference with GSM is when they realize they did something wrong the correct it.
Marcello
Not in my case, they haven't made it right.
But you are correct... the products I did get from them (once I got them installed) are very nice! I love the intake.
radduc 07-19-2006, 02:20 PM I would give Scott another call,I am sure he will get it taken care of.I know having a ton of stuff on your plate and a move isn't an excuse, but give him a ring. They are good guy's
4 calls should be plenty, and I know for a fact that he is reading my posts both here and on the other forum.
I have no doubt he is a great guy. In fact, I really enjoyed talking to him on the 6-8 occasions I have. He offered me a break on the price of the supercharger due to my problems, but that was before I ever received the intake and experienced this last round of lackluster customer service.
ResumeSpeed 07-19-2006, 02:34 PM ...the difference with GSM is when they realize they did something wrong the correct it. Marcello
If "correcting it" means telling a customer on two different occasions that a missing part has been or will immediately be shipped, when in fact it has still not been shipped, then I am not impressed. How much business is GSM going to lose because they are too involved in their never-ending move to ship a $3.00 part?
It is very frustrating when a company tells you they have shipped something when they have not. Missing parts or "errors" should be given top priority. The part should have been overnighted to the customer the first time around. They may be "too busy" to take care of this matter but what about the customer? How much time should he have to waste repeatedly contacting this company to get something resolved that is so simple?
radduc 07-19-2006, 03:01 PM All i can say is that they corrected the problem I had,and made things right. The point I am trying to get accross is they are not bad guy's like some other shops. They made an honest mistake and they corrected.unlike some other shops that charge there customers 21 grand to do the work and only install 2,000 worth of parts and alot of stickers.I would hate to see guy's not do business with them because of a shipping error. In my opion, you would be cuttion off your nose to spite your face.
I need to be sure and get one point across here..... I am NOT saying GSM are crooks at all! They have simply blown it from a customer service standpoint. I've said in several posts that I like what I received from them, once I figured out how to make it work (sometimes with my own hardware).
Customer service is paramount to me, and most consumers. That is why I issued my caution to others.
radduc 07-19-2006, 03:10 PM Understood.;)

Hey (ge2)Greg,

Thank you for posting this Scott. I got your phone message just now as well, and will call you shortly.
Consider this case closed. After speaking with Scott, he has taken care of this and Iwill have my part on Friday. Thanks Scott.
El Jefe 07-19-2006, 05:03 PM Well, this is the way an issue with a company should be resolved. I see a lot more business coming your way GSM. Im off to check out the Novi kit for the SRT GC for my buddy, well, because, Hennessey just couldnt cut it...
jayeepee 07-20-2006, 05:27 AM GSM - that is what any reasonable person expects a business to do to rectify a problem. There is your method and the Hennessey method, I like yours better :D

Do you know how many calls I have given Scott the past week and Emails to both him, Sales@GSM, Ryan, and everyone on the contact list to JUST simply inform me of what is happening to my delayed order and to my messed up previous SC Jeep SRT Kit and as Scott said he would call me back within an hour last Friday a week ago --- to come here nad post this and STILL nothing as if the company doesnt exist!!!.... I called, emailed and left MANAY messages with receptionsit even... anyway will not bore you with endless details as it is not why am here but...

again I am sorry I am duplicating this but I feel I have an obligation as a fellow citizen to not let others be burned like I am/havbe been and to STOP what ever GSM is doing to the masses and say that customers WIN, not their indifferent attitude and still expecting customers inflow!
BEWARE from GSM - I am yet to find a resolution single-handedly with my Bank/AMEX and lawyer or until they contact me (which seems unlikely) while they have over $20K of my $ already... so far I have spend with them almost $30K - so imagine how they would treat smaller player/customer who would spend less on a kit or even a part....
I'd recommend you post this over at the blue site too.
M3KSRT8 10-20-2006, 01:48 PM I sure will when I get a free moment this weekend - thanks for the heads up man... it is how we care for each other as a virtual community is what makes us a solid fellow humans in today's world.
M3KSRT8 10-20-2006, 02:06 PM Ok and has anyone noticed when they CALL ANY NUMBER from the contact us on GSM site - now the message changed and it is generic and not state anything about GSM and just asks to leave a message!!!!!
is this a start of their vanishing with our $ or just a tech glitch for the day?
ResumeSpeed 10-20-2006, 02:09 PM I posted awhile back on this forum about all of the GSM supercharged exploding engines and was trashed for doing so, no one believed me. No I am reading about more engines blowing up and as is typical, GSM is skirting the issue. Without the amount of complaints GSM gets I am surprised that they are still in business. Buyer beware!!
GodfatherSRT8 10-20-2006, 02:10 PM Just from reading all this, I would call AMEX and the bank and stop payment on your transactions. This does not sound good. And to think, my next Mod I was considering was the GSM supercharger.
omegaman 10-20-2006, 02:25 PM And to think, my next Mod I was considering was the GSM supercharger.
Me too. I was hoping to hear all sorts of positive feedback to give me that push needed to send in an order.
Does it seem like alot of us are in the same position - money to spend and no where (trustworthy) to send it?
M3KSRT8 10-20-2006, 02:33 PM Yes seems so to me and WILL be contacting AMEX and BANK and if needed go to the tip of the mountain. I am a business customer to both so they normally take great care of me/my transactions without need to do any legal additions.
AND YES seems to me that we are all in same boat -willing to spending $ but no trustworthy place - beside the TOO OVER rated and expensive Hennessy - so I think we should startup a company with a great Tech and alliance with Germany and DELIVER!
M3KSRT8 10-20-2006, 02:46 PM the Voice recording now on the main # 562-777-1075 WHICH IS THE ONLY one working says after many rings that "you have reached Voice mail box for Group Accounts, leave a message..."
This is SCARY! Looks like they are on the way of packing or already vanished and now we have to deal with legalities to get back our $$ for orders placed and NOT delivered, not to mention screwed up orders that delivered but incomplete...(which is ALSO my case as lucky as I am)!
Bought 2 products from GSM and had no problem with the delivery or the products - all was great and I look forward to future purchases.
M3KSRT8 10-20-2006, 03:18 PM rikk -
How about you try buying NOW! and report back and let me know - I am curious to see if its only us or what ... Just even try to call their main #...
Yep, I'll be ordering again next month - going for the kooks headers next, having the intake and heads done locally due to distance to gsm.
I'll post their performance.

He's talking about NOW... not previous purchases, or some maybe purchase two weeks out.
I had a lousy experience with them...admittedly only for a few hundred bucks, but I would NOT buy from them again.
I tried calling, and got the voicemail bit also.
srt8suv 10-20-2006, 05:44 PM I told you guys (many times) about them. they dont give a dam about customers, I am sure they have some internal issues.:o
I heard of a guy of mine who knows them very well, that they are into big problems financially. there is a big talk about them in their area.:o
I have been watching the forum long enough, out of 100 only 2 said good things about GSM. go and read around, they are many people who posted alot of things of thier bad experience with GSM. there was a guy who purchased thier kit last may and didnt get!!
Why there is NO such honest company that can please its customers.
let me tell you this, i bought Ported heads & intake from Power ported, and the experience was great & fast. I boughted Magna flow exhuast from magna flow them selves, and it was great and fast!
Dont spend your money on some company that will not call you back when you pay big $$ and will not even bother to e-mail you back. that means they dont give a dam. we used to hear about John Hennessy, now the news is GSM.
This crap is getting really old you guys. I have never dealt in my life with a company like this. I should of known better, when ever anything sounds to good to be true, you should know better. Boy isn't it a coincidence that my Supercharger shipped and got lost/stolen and now GSM has it and I don't. And their getting money back for the lost Supercharger. Talk about Fraud. I just want my parts, that's all. And now I'm scared that my parts are going to be incomplete, and that everything's going to blow up, and then I'm really screwed. I'm wondering if we should pay GSM a suprise visit and see what's really going on?... You know what, they have promised me tracking numbers for the past week, and nothing. They say it's at the one building, and then the other, excuse after excuse, once again, I am not about bashing company's as a business owner myself, but this is just rediculous. I have never ever seen customers treated this badly in my life. Man I'm thinking of getting my money back and even going to J.H., nahhh!!! JUST WANT MY PARTS GSM!!! PLEASE DELIVER ALREADY!!! It's going to be FRICKIN SNOWING here in Cleveland soon!!! Those Bastards!!!

Here is a copy of my response to the other customer
This is complete crap, this customer has ordered a total of 5 kits, we have shipped him 2 and he has the balance of the order shipping on Monday.
The lack of respect is the customers own lack of respect
We are always Avilaible and while we are busy building and shipping as many kits as we can, this paticular customer was given a "week of the 16th-20th"ship date on his final kits and this was held up because of a delay in final payments, personal checks as means of payment are always held to give time to clear. After checking the customers check did not clear till 10/12 and his order was put in the que for building and shippment and is ready to ship as promised
This paticular customer is so argoant, he did not check his e-mail yesterday advising him of his shippment status and proceed to call me on my cell phone at 7:30 pm on friday night while I am out to dinner with the family and he wanted to discuss what exactly was on his order for monday..???? wow I told him I would be happy to call him on Saturday

Just to be fair and square and ths is the kind of person I am...
Scott THANK you for finally calling me in a spirit of resolving my issue... and placing both of us on the same page and apologizing for such treatment and explaining that you guys have been busy and not intentionally vanishing or disapearing on me/us.
I am NOT going to take any further legal actions nor contact Bank/AMEX to stop payment obviously as Scott promised to call me Monday and ship all of my items and as agreed in proper form, beside completing the list of missing item in the kit shipped... I have full faith that it will be smooth sailing from here.
I will update once I receive my order complete and expect it so as Scott promised so I have full faith in that after our peaceful chat/talk yesterday which I am glad to say was constructive nad hopefully an end to this dilemma and ordeal!
Hope we can put this past us and rectify it and both learn.
Thank you again Scott -I was on the verge of thinking the company did/does not exist - so thanks for restoring some confidence back and am looking fwd to getting my orders and hearing from you Monday.
Have a great Weekend!

Satisfied just recalled all their rear pads. A thread was started recently showing how to order directly from Satisfied, and i did so. It took them 3 weeks to get me pads......I had a local garage install them and they machined the rotors down to get them to fit!! I thought that was strange.
A week later I stopped by GSM and bought my rotors and pads from them and Scott offered to install them. Turns out the rear pads would not fit!!! So Scott sent them out to be machined and a few hours later I was up and running. A few days later i get a call from Satisfied "recalling" the previous pads(rears) I had ordered directly because they were too thick.
In summary yes there is a recall on the rears unless you want machined pads or you can get them machined down.
As a Senior member of this forum and the OC site I have seen complaints about GSM. I have met Scott personally and seen his operation.......he is not a bandit or shyster and has a legitimate operation. As many of us in business know you can only be as good as your employees or the people you surround yourself with. If I can be of any help with follow up let me know since GSM is only a few miles from my home and i drive by there on the way from work.
Term22 10-24-2007, 09:10 PM Satisfied just recalled all their rear pads.
Thanks! GC! I will definitely let U know if something arises with my order!
OurZoo 10-24-2007, 11:09 PM I've been to GSM twice in the last month and Scott is a great guy to deal with. He called me today to let me know he sent me an email. Instead of a quick "hi" and "bye", we ended up bul****ting about the rides and SEMA for like 15 minutes. Down the line I'm thinkin Ported Intake, Heads, Slotted/Drilled Rotors, Satisfied Pads, and god knows what else as the list is continually growing. I will be purchasing them from him.
robbiesdad 10-25-2007, 09:39 AM I got the Satisfied pads from GSM. They were MUCH better at billing my credit card than they were at shipping my pads. (about 60 days better). This was not a rogue employee or UPS screwing up. This is the way they choose to do business. They should expect customers to be upset. I really don't think you can make this your policy and get a reputation for solid service. They do business the way they choose. We have the choice of who to buy from. This is capitalizim at its finest...

Just curious. Did you get your goodies, or what do you see when you check tracking #'s with shipper? Hope everything arrived in a timely manner. :)

Haaa, very good question with the tracking number.
It sure does NOT mean that the goods have been shipped.
I had a tracking number for weeks on goods not sent.
GSM did the right thing in the end.
I would check inventory and shipping date from now on though.:)
