I was thinking that we could take this thread and make it a sticky. We could all post our top speeds that we have done, compare them to the "estimated" 155mph SRT tells us, and sort of "compete" for the unofficial "Top Speed" award.

Two things: one, we base this on the honor system, and two, we make sure that we put no one in danger.

I'll go first. I have roughly 1,500 miles on the truck, still being soft with it until 2,000 miles. I have only done a handful of short 100+ runs, the fasted being 110 mph.

OK, who's next.

As much as I'd like to disagree with this thread, I can't. I have done 155ish in my SRT-4. I can probably assure you that I will be one of the first to post once I do a "top speed run" of my own when my GC gets here.

It will be interesting to see the results.

I am slated to pick up my SRT8 this Friday!! I feel like I have an unfair advantage though because I can max-out my cars "legally" here. The Germans just tell you that the "recommended" top speed is 130 KMH or about 86 MPH. My daily commute -- in good weather -- sits at 100+ no matter what I'm driving because the portion of the autobahn that I drive is relatively free of traffic. I can post a 150+ pic from the G35 and will post a pic of the SRT8 tapped out when I get it broken in. The G35 is electronically limited to 156, so it'll be interesting to see what we can squeeze out of the Jeep! Be safe out there!!

Well...

Just this weekend coming up I-75. I shut it down at 140. It still seemed to be pulling. The Audi A4 racing next to me had no idea what he was getting into.

Make sure you get a good 2000 miles on your truck before you try a 150+ run. I'll be waiting to hear how it works out.

Any idea where you were on the tachometer and what gear you were in?

the jeep runs about 110 in 3rd and 140 in 4th. it should pull to at least 150 in 5th. but you will need some room to get there. 140 came pretty quick tho.

OUCH! 2000 miles. :( It'll seem like an eternity! When I get the break-in finished I'll post a buried speedo picture for you guys. FYI - I was barreling down the bahn yesterday at @135 in the G35 Coupe and had a RUF Porsche leave me like I was standing still. I buried the speedo trying to catch him, but no go. Its amazing what passes you here -- everything from truly exotic sports cars to ultimate "sleeper" sedans that have been to the mega-buck tuners. I had a "tuned" 7 series BMW leave me for dead at 150+ this summer. Humility sucks. ;)

If an exhaust system won't cost me hundreds of dollars to ship overseas, that'll be the first mod -- in conjunction with a CAI. A re-map would also be the hot ticket I would think. I'll do my best to make you proud!! I have enclosed a pic of the G35 coupe at speed. I had the speedo pegged at 156 MPH, but handling a camera and the wheel at that speed wasn't fun, so as you can see, we are at the 150 range. Germany rocks! :D

The Jeep SRT must be electronically limited to 155 mph, it is the slowest of the SRT family.
It would be nice to kill the limiter.

Right now there seems to be comfusion about the top speed. Some think it is e-limited and other's think (such as SRT) it is limited by drag, etc.. 155 is only an estimation, and if it is like the other SRT's it can be 5-10 mph higher. The tires are rated for 168, and I believe the tranny is rated for 170.

The 300 SRT is hitting the 165-170 mph range, its true that a lot of people don't venture into the top speed realm, but some do. :D

From what I've gathered from the 300srt forum, there are a few people who are consistently hitting 173-174 mph.

Last week on 81 North in Pottsville, PA I pegged it at 154-157 with a 275lb coworker in the passenger seat. It hits 135-140 very quickly, but from there is takes quite some time. In all the excitement-and believe me there was plenty of it-I didn't notice the RPM's at top end, but in retrospect I'm quite confident it was drag limited. It had to of been for how slowly it accelerated at that speed. Sorry for the bad news. FYI, I have almost 5K on the odometer.

I have been up to 158,156, 157 on separate occassions. On a two wheel dyno I had the speedometer at 180 begging for an upshift from 5th gear. My speedometer read 160 but the dashawk logged 158. I simply ran out of road. The Jeep shifts from third at 100, not sure but i think 140 in fourth, but 4th and 5th aren't very for apart as far as rpms. After 140 its like hitting a wall of wind, I think an RDP suppercharger might help !!!

Dashawk says 140mph. According to predator I think we're governed at 190 but I really don't have desire to do it. I pegged an 01 hayabusa and then some - I was at 11,000 rpms in 6th and didn't hit the rev limiter. I think it wasn't too far from 200pmh. That's as fast as I ever wanna go.
I do think with the 426 there is probably enough gear to get it up there though.

Hey I had to check out the 80mph roll with the 426 cause you said it pulled hard. No kidding bro. Weather was good and I had an urge. 80 - 120mph seemed like maybe 3-4 seconds at most. We are definitely defying laws of physics with our jeeps!!!

try that UD pulley, then you will get to see how it feels pulling from 80-150. used to pull good to 120 then the brick feel would start to set in from 120-140 then a crawl to 150, now it is ridackulous all the way and keeps going and going and going....;)and the time it takes, we'll you'll find out.

With "Traffic" being 2 big trucks trying to outrun each other when both having a speedlimit of 53 mph on a twolane highway ( i know i know Sweden is small okay;) It is not easy to zigzag but if they had not been there i would have reached 210-220 mph

During the Bullrun Rally '08 - on one of our destinations, we were able to hit 156MPH, with 4 passengers and a full trunk! My buddy snapped this pic too late which shows the speedo at 151MPH. Needless to say, he was shocked a truck with 'brick-like' aerodynamics could perform the way our Jeep SRT8's can!

I dont think there is a "cutout" or limiter I've had it to 160 with 6000 miles on. It was still going but slowly and had about 300 or so RPM's left but i ran out of road. Had it to 150 many many times. It's completley stock also except fot the jet 180
