ok, ok, before i get an earfull . i did a good search. all i found was a debate on whether it is better to lease or buy, ect.

well, long story short im in the market for a new suv. current lease is up. without a doubt i want to lease.

i was just wondering what one would potentially lease out around... i know its probably terrible but wondered if anyone could share their experiences..

thanks

I don't know. But two good sources for lease info are
roadfly financing forums and Edmunds forums.
You can usually find the buy rate on the money factor and the residuals.

thanksI'm leasing an 07,wanted an 08 but didn't wan't to wait for october(stealerships prediction on arrival)and guess whut??Couple of people actually have 08's:(Anyways lease is not that great because they have no incentives or rebates on SRT's! I guess that's why you don't see that many.:D I'm not sure it the best, but it's the best that I got after looking around for 3 weeks via internet,fleetrates.com,9 dealerships in N.Y...
07 black srt-8 fully loaded (rear dvd, back up camera,nav,6 cd mp3,SRT Option Group 1-TOO MUCH TO LIST..:p) 39 mos.lease 10,500 miles=3900 out of pocket includes 1st month payment, tags and taxes rolled in for $734 mo.

39 mos.lease 10,500 miles=3900 out of pocket includes 1st month payment, tags and taxes rolled in for $734 mo.

What? My price out the door was $43,500 with taxes and everything on my "everything but rear DVD" loaded '07. I put down $4000 and my PAYMENTS (as in, not lease) are $808.00/month. You're saying leasing is practically the same as owning, payment wise? That's pretty crappy.

After 39 months, I will probably owe in the neighborhood of about $16,000 on the remainder of the loan.

I might be able to sell it for $23k (VERY rough guess) at that time, netting me $7000.00 back in the pocket.

If I was leasing, I would save $74/mo in the payment. Over the 39 months, I would save $2886. Now, factor in the Time Value of Money, blah blah blah, lets round up and say you save $3000 over buying.

Assuming I can get $23k for the beast, the overall difference for owning saves $4,000..

Now, if I could only get $19k for the rig, then its about break even. Then, the only factor would be the fact that you could probably get out of the payments by selling soon easier than penalties impossed for cancelling a lease.

I don't know if this helps any. In August '06 I leased an "everything but rear Entertainment system" GCSRT8 with a sticker of like $43k(guess). I received employee pricing which put my price at $38.9K. With zero (that means ZERO) out of my pocket for 36 months I pay $780/mo. The only problem was negotiating with the manager. I have A+++ credit and the money factor was still outrageous. We argued for about 20 minutes just to get it to a reasonable level.

I am not going to be buying any autos until I have to start giving them to my kids. The manufacturers make it impossible for any car to hold its value and they are constantly moving inventory. Like I said, the sticker on my car was somewhere around $43 and I only put 9K miles on it this year, but in two more years when the lease is up it won't be worth half of what the sticker is. The price of gas is high, the price of HP is low and the market will have new '09s by then with much more HP and new features.

I would lease it if I were you.

I guess the main reason why I wouldn't lease is that you cant customize it. If you did you would have to return it to stock at the end of the lease. Plus watching your miles. $800 bucks per month for a vehicle.......I would want to drive it more than 10,000 miles per year.

I looked into leasing the 07 and found that a 39 month residual was only 46%, MF was equivalent to 7.9% rate, not the greatest numbers. But, if you get the car at 500 below invoice and can negotiate the MF and the sales tax I think leasing can be a consideration. I'm waiting for a residuals to publish on the 08 and once the upgraded stereo becomes available I will price out a lease deal with intention to purchase when the lease is up. Like others have said, it's nice to have the option to simply give the car back if the situation sours.

At the time, EP was available to everyone. There was some debate as to whether is was available on SRT8 models. I saw this SRT8 sitting at a dealer for quite some time, so, I walked in, checked the mileage (9) and said I would take it at employee price. The next twenty minutes was spent negotiating the MF.

How does my tax guy figure out the % "up to $25,000"
If you have to explain to your tax guy how to take Section 179 depreciation, you, honestly, need to find a new tax guy.

Money factors are usually very disadvantageous. Usually are not negotiable.

Watch, you will most likely be able to get cheap purchase financing on SRT's in the next 60 days. It will happen. I got 0% for 72 months on my 300C SRT8 and got "Employee Plus" pricing (Employee pricing for everyone) last year on the GC SRT8 and got it for $575 below invoice with no negotiation.

Remember, if the GC is a business vehicle, you will most likely be able to take up to $25,000 first year Section 179 depreciation on the Jeep if you buy it instead of lease it. Depending on your tax bracket, you should be able to get your down payment back in tax benefit.

I'm a tax practitioner and do this all of the time.

well, i should have some info by early afternoon today. (mon)

i like leasing personally because of the option to get out. i am in construction, and even though im pretty stable financially... you never know.

anyways, on the other hand. the numbers dont sound to good for a 10k mile a year with money down for over $700 a month.

now i understand why people lease bmw's, audis ect. their residual is so high it seems like you can get a WHOLE lot more pricey of a car for less money..

Agree. Had I not been able to negotiate the MF I would not have leased.
