I will try to keep this short and sweet...

I LOVE THE JEEP!!!

Ok, here is the experience today.

I roll up to the lot and there she is sitting all menacing. I through my stuff in the back seat and start my look around the vehicle.

The first thing I look for is the scuff on the bottom lip of the front bumper. I really isn't that bad, so I smile.

The next thing I notice is the actual bumper seems loose. I wiggles around a little...doesn't seem right. Hmmmm.

Next I look at the ODO. Surprise surprise...15 miles.
The bastards drove it for 11 miles. I immediately call Don and ask what I should do. He told me that there wasn't really anything that could be done, but to be sure to give them an earfull.

The fleet manager came out while I was chatting with Don. I try to bring up the issues with him and he told me it was all service issues. I sign off on the work and drive around to the service side.

I talked with a guy there and he looked at the bumper cover with me for a long time (flashlight etc) and he couldn't find anything out of place. We then found an 07 on the lot to see how its bumber cover acted, and it was about the same.
He really didn't have anything to say about the mileage and the service manager was talking with some other people...it was getting late and I had a 10am that I needed to get to. So I drove off knowing that there wasn't anything they would have done anyways.

2 miles into the drive my 10am rescheduled so I tore off to my buddies house to show off the beast.

(MAN THIS THING IS AWESOME...I believe in the "drive it like you stole it" break in process and all I can say is HOLY $h1t!!!)

My buddy Jeff looks at it and we talk for some time, and the he notices a bunch of scratches on the passenger side wheel.

I called Don again and he told me what I already knew...head back to the dealership.

This time I get the manager and he tells his lackeys to "start the process". Photos, paperwork etc. I am really starting to worry at this point...the tell me that they will call me when they find out if Chrysler will replace the wheel or not.

Long story even longer:

I get a call a few hours later with good news...replacement wheel has been ordered!!!

Even with the rocky start I can't get enough of this vehicle.

The interior is WAY nicer than the WRX. The stereo is KICK ASS! I don't know what some of you are talking about, but this is the nicest stock system I have ever heard.

I was shocked when I got her in the garage of how small she really is. I guess my truck is a lot bigger that I thought. I have a TON of room to get in front of and behind...doors open with no worries of hitting anything...

I have already imported some mp3s to the mygig...totally a must have.
I haven't paired my phone yet.

Here is a question...the back up camera really isn't very crisp at all. I can see stuff, but it seems blurry...is this normal?

OK I feel like I wrote a book...and I am about to fall asleep...oh wait...the self leveling HID are really cool too!!!

Thanks for all the help on this site...I can't wait to get behind the wheel again in the morning!!!
:D

Thanks for the info. I will pay close attention when I pick mine up. It should be ready early next week if not sooner. I am going to the dealer tomorrow to take a look at it to make sure nobody f'd it up. They have not detailed the beast yet and it is just sitting there on the lot. I got the paperwork from Don today so I should be clear to pick it up. I might just give the manager a earfull tomorrow to get it ready.

Good luck and I am very glad you love the GC. I can't wait...I am having a problem sleeping. I want it yesterday!!!

They took it on a joyride. What service issues? At least the wheel is on order for you. BTW, the camera isn't crisp. It's just alright. Congrats!

Congrats on finally getting her in your possession!

And I'm glad they are replacing the wheel for you.

And no, it's not cool that they drove it that many miles, but I am sure they believe in your "drive it like you stole it" break-in as well. So at least you don't have to be worried that the first 15 miles was easy on it. :D

PKI - Good luck with the new ride. You're lucky that they're replacing that wheel after you signed off on it and drove it off the lot.

Toothmechanic (and anyone else) - It's usually a good idea to bring a friend or family member to really look over the car well when you pick it up. You're usually too excited to see and check everything. I usually bring my father-in-law...he's a pain in the a$$, but perfect for the job.

Congrats on the new ride...try not to worry about everything so much and enjoy it! Don't let all of these little things take your fun away.

THAT IS GREAT!!!! That would have been good to have my buddy there, but he couldn't make it that early, and I HAD to be there when they opened...

I am not worried about anything at all...I can't find enough reasons to drive it now. the 50 miles I put on it yesterday went by too fast. I've been in her for just over 2 hours...I NEED MORE!

If some one wants to chime in on a questionsI would appreciate it, otherwise I will be searching a lot today.

Operating temp? what is standard temp? I know there are a ton of threads on it...I just can't remember what standard is.

BTW, the nav is cool...even better is that I can use it while moving. Driving down the road playing with the nav and not paying attention to the road...I love it!

Just couldn't resist and have to give my opinion.... after discovering the wheel rash I'd be a little more upset and have them fix the curbed bumper as well. Not to mention that they put 11 miles on your ride!! My dealership has put about the same mileage on mine on two occasions and I get pissed every time I think about taking it in.

PKI, the wheel rash would bug me big time. The other stuff...I bet in a few months, it will be a distant memory.

Congrats on the new ride!

I've had my '07 for 4 months and I still make up excuses to take it out for a drive. I've owned alot of very nice, very fast cars over the years but none have made me smile like the GCSRT8.

By the way, the blurry back up camera is normal. It's an intersting toy but not very effective.

Thanks Wheat Burner. I am planning on bringing the wife and kids. I am a dentist, as you can tell, and we are pretty picky. Between the two of us we should catch everything. I was told today that they are going to get it in the shop Mon. for detail...hopefully that will happen. Thanks for the suggestion.
