Depending on what kind of deal you'll get local to you...... Have you looked?? Don @ Champion in Barrington Illinois is offering $500 under factory wholesale. I think it's a deal that can't be beat.

I was one of the first to order the 08. It feels like it was years ago, the truth is it wasn't that long ago. When I ordered it the production hadn't even started yet. I got to know when it was being painted and the whole 9 yards.

If you do a search (I am too lazy right now) you can see the day that I ordered mine...I should be taking posession Wed or Thurs of this week...but I don't know where the blasted thing is. I had Don drop ship it from the factory to a local dealer...last I heard was it had been dropped off (last week) at a rail car junction, and was waiting to make the super short (less than 6 hour) trip to my town.

I could have driven down and picked it up 10 times now...but for what ever reason it is still somewhere else other than my garage.

Evperry,Check with InfernoSRT8 and lives in I believe NYC. Tony has had some very bad experiences with some dealers in the NYC area. He can clue you in on who NOT to go to. For my next Jeep SRT8 I think that I will contact Don@Champion Jeep in Barrington, Illinois. Champions prices seem to be pretty good. Rich

Ive had some tough experiences with the NYC fellas out here, this would be my 3rd chrsyler auto in the last 24 months so so Im all up for the negotiating. Its all in what you make of it.

My target is now gonna be $500-$1000 below invoice for a fully loaded 2008 that someone ordered and cancelled.

Does Don have anything in stock on does he have to order everything? If he has a black 08 on the lot for $500 below inv, i am gonna buy that one.

One thing about these SRT8"s that we gotta remember is that the VAST majority of people would never buy them. One of the local dealers had like 8 SRT8 mags unsold like 8 months ago and was still trying ot get over MSRP.

I've only met with one dealer that has four '07 GCSRT8s on the showroom, they seem to be playing hardball. The fleet manager at a large dealer claims they will only sell at MSRP for a fleet deal, and if purchased through the sales department there's a $6K markup over MSRP...

During the test drive, this guy told me all 2008 trucks were going up $10K due to the value of the dollar.

Shortly thereafter, I had him run numbers on the 2007 I test drove, and then a 2008 with same options (with obvious Nav upgrade) and the 2008 was $400 lower than the 2007 -- I told this nimrod to give me a call when he wants to sell vehicles.

There's approximately 30-40 2007 GCSRT8s sitting on dealer lots in the Southern California area...

Don keeps a very strong inventory. I would figure if he doesn't have an unaccounted for black 08 on hand at the moment, he will very soon. And the price will be $500 below invoice.

As far as the target audience of the SRT8s, yes... It's a small group. That's actually why the dealers attempt to (and in many cases actually do) get over sticker for them.

I'm sure they do get over sticker for many of them because most consumers don't really comparison shop, they just buy from the local guy.

For those of us who do shop around you begin to realize that srt8's don't sell very quickly so the best, most reliable profit would be in the regular jeeps at msrp or even invoice. Cars lose value every day they sit on lots. I'm also wonder sometimes if some of the newer dealers have lines of credit that must be paid so they are more anxious to see.

In nyc there are 15-20 dealers to choose from within a 30 min drive so I always seems to find a salesperson that needs to make his numbers for that month. I think I only paid msrp for 1 car in my life and then I woke up.

In any event if don has a loaded one and can ship it out, then I'm all in.

True enough. Many people don't comparison shop. The internet has helped that out a lot, though. Invoice pricing isn't hard to find and a lot of dealers hate that.

I would say most dealers run on a line of credit. And the longer a unit sits against their floor-plan, the more eager they become to move it. But then there are the dealers who get greedy and will turn away a sale at a lesser price in an attempt to hold out for the "sucker" willing to pay too much.

But yea, give Don a call at 888/221-1796. I'm sure he can take care of you.

It's the number listed on one of your web pages at http://champion-dodge.fivestardealers.com/ (found initally by a Google search for Champion Jeep, Barrington, IL).:D

**EDIT** It's probably a number assigned by Chrysler to track leads from the website. I know when I was an "Internet Sales Manager" for a Dodge dealer, I had about 10 phone numbers between the Five Star site, AutoTrader.com, Cars.com and all the other places we used for leads.

A lot of things make sense to me seeing this......

My boss gets a lot of my calls, this is why(he is also Don)

My 866 number goes right to my cell, and is the only number I ever give out

"Invoice" pricing isn't really factory or dealer invoice.. just ask how much "Holdback" is on the GCSRT8 or any other vehicle for that matter and you'll find how dealers can make money by discounting and moving vehicles below "factory invoice." They are also finance machines... bundling and selling loans.

Any dealers here care to disclose "Holdback" on a 2008 GCSRT8? .. ;)

The TBSS has a $900 Holdback that's rolled into the "factory invoice"... the manufacturer kicks this back to the dealer on a monthly basis -- plus there's other hidden incentives.

Keep in mind dealers need to make money as well... and I agree, the internet has somewhat leveled the playing field... but more on the side you can see who has the inventory. The Kelly Blue Book has been publishing MSRP and Invoice pricing for decades.

And for decades "Holdback" was probably the best kept secret in the automotive industry.

Just ask Cal Worthington .. :D

Do a search of any one of the threads were I have discussed pricing on any 07 or 08. Holdback is no secret, everyone here knows it. An everyone here knows they only have to ask to find out the exact amount on any Dodge Chrysler or Jeep

That right, finally released today.

The first one I ran was silver, option groups 1, 2, sunroof, and nav.

MSRP: $47,180

Invoice: $43,942

Holdback: $1,395

Is $500 below invoice a good price on a 2008 or not?

Has anybody found better? Don seems to be very upfront with his pricing. I don't see any other dealers on here doing the same. I would be interested to see what other people's experiences are with various dealers...

$500 below invoice is a good deal.. probably won't find a better price since most dealers are allocated SRT8s -- a standard fleet deal is $250 over invoice.

When negotiating, I rarely ask for holdback -- unless its a Japanese vehicle.. they typically sell on volume, enjoy greater margins and don't need the extra profit to keep the doors open. Hammer Toyota .. keep Chrysler and the Hemi alive and well. ;)

FYI -- holdback varies .. I've seen it as low as $200 on a $20K Honda, $500 on a $62K Toyota Land Cruiser ... and as I said $900 on a TBSS.

Don has been very fair to me so far.

I plan to order my 08 from him. My concern- and maybe those that have bought from Don will reply - is as I understand Don has to ship the Jeep to a local dealer near me, not to my home.

What backlash can I expect from local dealers when Don ships an SRT8 to them for pickup by a customer that did not buy from them?

Also, any backlash from the servicing department?

Thanks.

I can ship to your house if you want, thats no problem. It does cost a little extra, but it also gets there a little quicker.

There is a 2007 black SRT8 for sale in Bayside Queens. Forgot the name of the dealership, but there asking for well over the sticker. I told the salesman about the deal Dons giving and he just laughed and said no way its possible. Needless to say I broke out of there without even trying to negotiate. I would call Don but i want to trade in my car. I really dont have the time or want to deal with the hassle with selling it myself.

Good Luck getting the best deal and let us know how it goes!

the only difference in servicing your car at a dealer that you did not purchase is that you dont get a loaner when your car goes in for service. personally the deal is way more important to me at this point in life. i would buy a car from Mars if the deal was right.

It's actually a lack of training and product knowledge. Hell, I worked for a Jeep dealer last year when the 06's were already out. I had to tell the owner & the GM about the SRT8 Cherokee. And the reason this came up is because one of the moron sales guys came up to "the desk" talking trash about "some dip**** who just called asking about some kind of SST Cherokee with a big Hemi..." indicating how ignorant the would-be customer was. After the sales guy, the GM & the owner all had a good laugh about this "idiot" I pulled a few pics & specs off the internet (Jeep.com) and gave them a quick education. The sales guy was too damned stupid to even realize he was the idiot in the situation. The owner & the GM were left talking about how much of a markup they could put on one if they were to place an order.

I run a business. My personal philosphy is simple in todays economy. I'm all about volume. Why look to kill someone on 1 deal and get no repeats? give somone a great deal and tell them why. train your people well and sell lots of units of whatever you sell.

if I was selling jeeps, I would be working it the same way don does on this board. do volume sales and you will make the same if not more money that the guys who are looking to rape every customer who walks through the door.

one of my pet peeves is when someone doesn't know the product they sell. I have been in sales off and on for over 17 years of my life and I always know my product better than any customer.

Thanks.

Where in NYC are you? I am in Manhattan, currently have a C6 Z06 and an Acura RDX. Am looking to dump the RDX in favor of either an MDX or SRT8.

Im in Queens.

The truck is VERY available but having probelms wth the color and or options. A good deal is not so hard to come by, just getting what you want is tough.

Depending on what kind of deal you'll get local to you...... Have you looked?? Don @ Champion in Barrington Illinois is offering $500 under factory wholesale. I think it's a deal that can't be beat.

What is the factory wholesale price at? Is that w/o options?

^ 2 posts above. I've been researching SRT8s for the last 2 weeks and put some serious time in today since 8am and just have a lot of (stupid) questions combined with a lot of excitement! :D

I went through more than a dozen dealers before I finalized a great deal. I ordered one with every option for $43,925. The first dealer I went to told me they could'nt sell it for under the sticker price. HA! then there were a handfull that offered me 44,100. So I think I got a hell of a deal.

I PM'd Don the other day, I know he's still on the road so I'm hoping for a reply soon.

Looking to buy a Red SRT8 with just Group I, Backup Cam and Nav - don't need all the backseat stuff. Only thing I'll miss is the HIDs. (sigh)
