so you would not reccomend going with a mobil 1 or K and N oil filter? I have been trying to search this and I see that some guys are going with 15w 50 oil...is it safe to say that's a good idea?

I think that the auto eng. guys should know their truck, so I will continue with Mobil o-40 grade. After doing some investigating on the filters, I found that the Mobil filter (no.M1-204) is the only one to filter down to one micron or lower. And I change about the 5k line. Not to much city driving. I do believe that useing a heavier oil makes the engine work harder depriving some useful HP

I'll have to use this Mobil filter. Thanks!

After doing much research, I believe Royal Purple 5W-40 is a great replacement for the Mobil 1 0W40 in a stock 6.1 liter Hemi engine. Once I complete some engine modifications, I will upgrade from the Royal Purple 5W40 to the Royal Purple racing oil XPR 10W40. All the Royal Purple oils have a better additive and wear package than Mobil 1. Your engine is designed for a grade 40 oil at operating temperature. Using a multi viscosity oil of 10W40 will only affect the engine at startup, by giving more protection against wear. 0W is only needed for temperatures -20 F. or colder. Many racing oils far exceed the specs of API requirements, but don't get the certification because of the cost, approximately $120,000. Use the oil your engine builder recommends or call the engineers at Royal Purple. They will be happy to explain engine oils to you.

Now, about oil filters. Has anyone used the Mobil 1 oil filter and cut it open after 3,000 miles to see how well it is filtering? I will ask the engine builders at High Horse Performance Racing (HHPRacing.com) what they use. I know they recommend and use Royal Purple motor oil in all the engines they build and build some pretty awsome engines.

Mobli 1, I have used both 0W40 and 15W50. I have used both the Mopar and K&N. My oil change interval changes depending on how hard I drive it and how the oil looks. I have gone as far as 2500mi and 1 time around 1500. Oil is cheap insurance and easy enough to change.

Don't forget to use a FilterMag! Don't believe it works??? Cut open your old filter after 3K and see what it captured. You'll be sold.
