i'm in the market now for a used 06 and i'm aware of the trans issues (TSB for software & leaking rings) and i've noticed 2 needed coolant added.

can anyone could offer up some other issues to look for that would help me out greatly!

If you can, find out if a used one is a SRT Track Time car bought at a Chrysler auction. When I asked my dealer late last spring to go to the auction for me with a firm order for a used SRT Jeep, he said most showing up were Track Time cars pretty well beat. He eventually talked me into a new one that had been on the lot for almost 6 momths based on the logical arguement that a used one will probably need tires and brakes, and that cost approximated the difference in price between a used 07 and a new one. (I wanted an 07 for the color Steel Blue). Plus with the new one I got to go to Track Time and abuse DC's cars:D FYI the 06's are not that much less that the 07s according to the Black Book. Oil on the trans, grooved rotors, noisy differential

When youtest drive it...
floor it for and test for noises, shift to first and check if it auto shifts to second,

Look at the hood in the middle where it dips down. Look for comlete paint coverage..Look at the bumper cover areas front and rear for cracks or chipping clearcoat...Look at the wheels for scratches and dings.


really test the hell out of it...If the dealer has a problem with you testing it...then pass and look for another.


When you do purchase, get an extended warranty. I think it is worth it.

man, i can't keep up with my threads... anyway thanks for the info guys. an 07 looks like its the way to go, esp as the prices come down when the 08's hit the showroom floors. plus its not beat up to all hell.
