first off I know this is a doublepost and I appologize but I need to go to the dealer quick.....

I first had this problem......http://www.cherokeesrt8.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5841

And I wasnt to incredibly worried...

But yesterday I looked under the jeep and saw one of my worst nightmares...Oil. Its not engine oil I believe....Its all over the Tranny. Or so it looks.....

I have been getting som weirder noises recently so I am really getting worried.

Please someone respond as to what you think it could be!!!

And remember I Love this thing...I dont complain just to complain....I want to keep the Jeep for a very long time so I need to keep it in good shape...Tranny problems scare me. They can be quite expensive with no warranty.

Pic of said oil on trans would be cool if possible.....

It's probably a seal. I would approach the dealer in one of two ways.

1. Replace or rebuild the trans and fix the leak.

2. Fix the leak and extend the trans warranty for a long time.

Since you already had some trans slippage, one would suspect that there was some premature wear on trans parts. If the seal is changed and the fluid is topped off, the trans might shift like new. That doesn't mean that it wasn't in some way damaged.

As for extending the warranty, this is something that I would want from Jeep and not from the dealer. I would request a written warranty extension from Jeep.

I have been in for different differential and trans problems for the entire summer....I have taken it in at lest 3 times.....How could they not notice this....This is my first time under the jeep and I see it almost immediately, so how can they not notice it with it up on a lift?

I am really beginningto wonder if I made a mistake buying this jeep.....I dont know. Maybe I should have....I dont really know.

I am afraid that my enthusiasim is slowly going away for this thing. I cant get the support I expect, and there are "Dangerous" problems surfacing.

I mean if a radio goes out, its not serious. But the trans, that is a problem that could be very bad long term!!!!!

I think I will demand an extension. I am Very scared on this one.

And they cant tell me, "thats normal" this time....

Time to give Mike a call.

All I can suggest is buying an extended warranty if you plan on keeping the Jeep past the 36/36 mark.

Also, if this is a continued problem and it's always the same thing, check your state lemon laws.

If you get an aftermarket warranty down the line, stay away from Continental Warranty. They are a pain in the ass to deal with. I had them for one of my M3's and I was not too happy with the customer service I recieved from them.

It's probably the common o-ring issue. Many of us have had bad o-rings which are obvisouly replaced under warranty. Maybe it's been leaking a while and your fluid is low which is causing your slip. There is no dipstick to check the level unless you bought your own.

I wouldn't advise any warranty but a Chrysler. Many dealers won't accept aftermarket warranties due to the fact they are a PITA to get money out of.

If it's a common issue Jeep should extend the warranty on the transmission or fear a class action suit.

Yep, Its the Oring issue....But I couldnt have it fixed right then. The jeep was too hot and I dont have any rental insurance so I had them fill it back up then I will be dropping it back off.

I would have thought they could have given me a rental but again...that would be expecting too much...And I wouldnt want them to be thaaaaat nice to me!!!!

DCX f-ing sucks......

I think next time Ill pass and stick to chevy...

Im just pissed and worried about my ride. I dont have alot of money like some of you here. I am stretching to pay for this thing....I cant afford for there to be abnormal problems with this thing....

If a trans goes out on me after my waranty is up, I am screwed.....Thats why I am worrying and so pissed.

I had to fight the wife to actually buy this thing.....I would hate to have to eat my words and hear all the crap about it.

I will stick in there now, but I am seriously

I hear ya, but I think you are getting upset to quick. The o-ring issue is common, happened to a lot of us and is not SRT8 specific. It was covered under warranty and things like this happen with all makes/models of cars. Yes it's annoying, but don't let it get you down.

Just have the o-ring replaced. No big deal and will make you sleep better at night.

No, I understand what you mean, but I feel like there are going to be things that pop up after the warranty runs out...And I will be screwed.

I realize all cars have these problems, but DCX seems very reluctant to issue typical recalls. They come up with this TSB program. Then it is up to the dealer, whether they want to approve things. I just have a gut feeling on this one.

The things that I have been told by the dealers are crazy. Like the dealer that told me the reason that I had 9 psi in my tire after leaving the dealer was due to the cold weather. WHAT?!?!?! I should have hit him directly in the mouth for thinking I was dumb enough to believe that. To make it worse, I was standing right by the jeep and could hear the air coming out......And they had just plugged the hole!!!! How do you take off a tire, take out a nail and plug a hole witout noticing the other nail that is 1 inch from the first one?

That was the previous dealer and the dealer I go to now is way better but its just DCX that pisses me off.

If there is a known problem, issue a recall or one of those Mercedes like fixes and cover all owners. Not just the ones that go to the good dealers.

So here I sit, with this VERY annoying Diff noise that is not quite like other jeeps I have been in, rotors that are scored so bad that everyone tells me that they look unsafe, leaks and two other weird noises that I cant even really describe yet. But as always, THATS NORMAL!!!

Its a good thing that I really do have a ton of fun in this thing.....or I would be driving something different.

So I will just keep raising hell at the dealer an eventually something will get fixed.

Sorry for the rant....

Oh and I always seem to find problems the week before my trip downstate for military duty.......Thats weird!!!

I hope they get it fixed up for you. What Dealer are you dealing with? You may want to try a different one.

Here is something you can share with the troops this weekend. Thanks for your Service!

IN THE BEGINNING...

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was God. In the Beginning was God - and all else was darkness, and void, and without form. So God created the heavens and the earth. He created the sun, and the moon, and the stars, so that light might pierce the darkness. And the earth God divided between the land and the sea, and these He filled with many assorted creatures.

And the dark, salty, slimy creatures that inhabited the murky depths of the oceans, God called sailors, and He dressed them accordingly.

And the flighty creatures of the air He called airmen. And these He clothed in uniforms which were ruffled and fowl.

And the lower creatures of the land, God called soldiers. And with a twinkle in His eye, and a sense of humor that only He could have, God gave them trousers too short, and covers too large, and pockets to warm their hands. And to adorn their uniforms, God gave them badges. And He gave them cords. And He gave them ribbons... and patches... and stars... and bells. He gave them emblems... and crests... and all sorts of shiny things that glittered... and devices that dangled. When you’re God, you tend to get carried away in a big way.

And on the 7th day, as you know, God rested. And on the 8th day at 0730, God looked down upon the earth and was not happy.

GOD WAS NOT HAPPY!

So He thought about His labors, and in His infinite wisdom, God created a divine creature and this He called a Marine. And these Marines whom God created in His own image, were to be of the air, the land, and the sea. And these He gave many wonderful uniforms. He gave them practical, fighting uniforms, so that they could wage war against the forces of Satan and evil.

He gave them service uniforms for their daily work and training, that they might be sharp and ready.

And He gave them evening and dress uniforms. Sharp, stylish, handsome things, so they might score with the ladies on Saturday night, and impress the hell outta everybody!

And at the end of the 8th day, God looked down upon the earth, and saw that it was good. But was God happy? No!

GOD WAS STILL NOT HAPPY!

Because in the course of His labors, He had forgotten one thing... He did not have a Marine uniform! But He thought about it, and thought about it, and finally satisfied Himself in knowing that, well, not everybody can be a Marine...

I always like you Marines!!!
you have a great sense of humor....(you have to to deal with some of the crap)

You work hard...you shoot well..and you enjoy liquor just as much as the AF.

I got along with the Marines better than any other service. My unit is a different type of unit and the Marines loved to party like we did. When the prior service Marines at my training base saw what we do, they took a liking to us. We all partied together and got in trouble together....It was great!!!

They even included us in their hazing activities....Like carrying this huge bowling ball covered in a ton of electrical tape. It was fun!!!

Those guys really hated the other typical AF folks though.....

We are "DIRT BOYS"..meaning we get down and dirty....While not being direct combat troops, we do a different type of job that IMO deserves a different type of respect. When deployed we carry our weapons....but rarely do we have to use them.

I am blessed to be in my type of unit...and I dont think i would still be in if I was placed anywhere else in the AF except for, Maybe, our Special operations fields.

Hell my Unit is not even really part of my base....The base is getting reassigned but we are not being touched. We are just the building out front with the crazy guys roaming around with Knives and snips.

Its so absolutely cool!!

We may not do most of the Ballzy stuff that some Marines do, but we do some seriously ballzy $hit. (like riding a trencher through a known mine field with people shooting at us....hehehahahhahah!!!!...Yes it was funny)

I have had trans issues as well and you just have to keep everyone posted on the problems, including jeep as well as your dealer. If you pursue this issue and nothing helps then a lemon law will have to be enacted and so in the end you could get a new one. However i understand, i have spent a lont ime wearing the vehicle in and taking it to the dealership every 3 thousand miles. keep me posted on what the issue is about so i can tell them what the deal is next ****ing time i am forced to go back.
