Over the last season, our general success at the track, new, & repeat business from customers have brought an issue to my attention. Cam pricing. Why am I so High.
Is it because I am a dealership? or because I'm on Long Island?? Or am I greedy?
Lets clarify this up.

What many people misconceive is that the $2195 to install someones cam is the comparison to the other shops $800 install.
Not true.

Dynotuning (by AJ Hemituner®)
New Lifters
Cam Bolt
Crank Bolt
Exhaust Manifold Gaskets
Intake Manifold Gaskets
Head gaskets
Valve cover Gaskets
Timing Cover Gasket
Timing Chain set
A Loaner Vehicle
Customer Support.. On & off the track
A clean facility
Exclusivity of the brand.
2 oil & filter changes (pre & post Dyno)
Special Tools & Diagnostics.
& more.

This is the way we perform the job.

Is all this really necessary? Couldn't you reuse lifters? Cam Bolt, Crank Bolt, Timing Chain, oil seals?
Sure could! But why would you when every single one of these parts have a greater chance of failing once used/torqued/disturbed.
The piece of mind knowing that precautions were taken and care was given to your investment, is far more valuable. And the $200 timing chain 'passed' on this time around, snapped and cost a $13,000 engine/install. The results of the methods we have gone by have proven successful on the streets, track events, and more importantly, on the customers daily drive. Others may agree or disagree with our reasons to perform the job in this fashion. Customers have the right to choose there facilities to perform these modifications; And the choice they make, and shortcuts taken, will determine the outcome. A thousand shops in my tri-state area alone can 'slip' a cam in for a great low price. Remember that Price is what you pay, & VALUE is what you receive. Our reliability and customer support continues to grow with our satisfied Hemi Shop customers we stand by, with personal service, at there homes, driveways, and dragstrips, and of course, the shop.

Will your shop do the same for you? Sure hope so. Its important that the customer selects that shop. After all, its your vehicle. A quality, thorough, COMPLETE install .....should not be optional.

Good point Jim, you wanna do it right the first time so it won't cost you more later on.

More importantly what times black Friday start at the hemishop :D lol, everything's half price right? Blowers,cams,heads..etc

How about no AJ tuning and I bring my own Cam? Whats that cost?

You don't go to a nice restaurant and bring your own bread. The Service, as its sold, is complete. If another tuner supplies the tuning, then we simply cannot stand behind the install and offer you the level of support presented, no matter how good the calibration is. AJs tuning abilities have proven reliable, & powerful. If I cut the AJ tune out, well, then lets cut a crank bolt out, or a seal, or reuse lifters, or etc.

This is the formula we(and other great shops) adhere to.
Its followed STRICTLY.

ShopHemi's Cams, & Franks Racing cams are amongst our favorites.. however we have used other custom grinds that have great results, All depends on application and preference.

Well put Jim. Guys, it's simple, you get what you pay for. If you want to pay the least amount possible for a performance package, don't be surprised when you don't see the gains you wanted or were "promised" by the vendor and don't be surprised when you have issues somewhere down the line and don't receive support for. I learned this the hard way with my original Heads/Cam/Ported Intake package which I was promised a gain of roughly 80hp and I only gained 30. Yeah I saved some money but in the long term I suffered more stress and more issues. It is absolutely worth it to pay at a premium price and get it done right. If you can't afford the premium price, save up and don't take shortcuts, you will end up spending much more money in the long run.

2200 out the door, in all honesty is a very reasonable price. IMO. Been down this road 4 or 5 times. Never had anything from Arrington, but those prices are very accurate once you factor in all costs. Persoanlly the first time I did a cam 4 + years ago on my LX, I had no idea of the "extra" costs and surprised me.

Ditto. Jim s a good guy and always does what's best for the customer. Go there on any given afternoon and there's usually a few customers hanging out soaking in "the vibe"

All they need is a couch and a fridge :)

Hey Jim 2200$ for cam and AJ tuning. How much more for heads and long tube headers installed ?

I believe that's install only with a supplied cam. I'd imagine headers install would be the price of just the headers because the engine will already be out for the cam install. Same with heads.
