: Esp
bevsjeepsrt8 03-04-2006, 07:25 AM did anyone get the ESP to work in full off mode? in the manual it says to depress and hold the switch for 5 seconds when the vehicle is stopped and the engine is running then a chime will sound and a message displays ESP off.
I tried many times but no luck. any ideas? I appreciate any help.
can someone try this on theirs? thanks
bevsjeepsrt8 03-04-2006, 07:44 AM i just read in another forum that there is a SRT-8 specific manual...thats probably why i cant get it to do what it says.does anyone have that manual?
if so can you see if theres an option for full off mode in it.
Thank's
akatheproducer 03-05-2006, 03:45 AM i just read in a mag today covering the pikes peak srt8 gc race to the top and they said they took a certain pink fuse from the gc brain under the hood wich in their terms " prevented buzz kill " and also deactivated the abs i will get the mag from work tomorrow and post the name of it !
Status D : WAITING FOR ORDERED SRT8 GC !!!
Inferno SRT8 03-05-2006, 10:17 AM ESP from what I have read cannot be fully turned off, When I get a chance ill check the manual again.
akatheproducer 03-07-2006, 02:53 AM the magazine was this months MOTOR TREND
BahnBlastR 03-07-2006, 10:53 AM Was it a good article? Had to be better than the Car and Driver "comparo" last month. That's one of the first times that I have ever wanted to write a magazine and tell them that their criteria for judging a vehicle like this was way off. If I wanted to off-road and pull a boat I would have bought the regular GC or a pick-up. I wanted this rig because I can haul ass in any weather and four of us can load up the golf clubs and blitz down the autobahn and smoke a few Mustangs along the way!
akatheproducer 03-07-2006, 11:39 PM Sorry the magazine was Truck Trend i quote from the article found on page 64 of issue 50 Truck Trend " Knowing the stability and traction-control systems would refuse to allow the kind of high-speed sideways driving that would no doubt ensue, we'd already removed a certain pink fuse from the jeep's brain to disconnect those buzz-kill
functions as well as abs . "
SRT8 MAFIA 03-14-2006, 08:51 PM I have heard (in a UK road test magazine) that they were not able to fully turn off the ESP. I am very curious to hear the verdict of being able to turn this off completely or not.
BahnBlastR 03-15-2006, 03:53 AM From what I have read, it is very similar to my G35 in that the "Fun Police" can not be completely turned off. Of course, I may be mistaken, but hey, no one's perfect.
radduc 04-24-2006, 12:42 PM GSM makes a kit to turn it off 100%
SRTJeep 04-24-2006, 06:33 PM That's correct it cannot be completely turned off. The mentioned Vendor's cut out does completely disable it but it sets a code in the PCM and disables the anti-lock brakes, all linked together. Mopar Performance also has a disconnect switch but how it works is their secret? (maybe a warranty issue on production vehicles)? I think it can be done without doing the above? I'm looking into designing such a device? Time will tell? Gene:confused:
aschuh 07-03-2008, 02:35 AM the esp can be shut off 100% but not by holding button down for 5 sec. esp is not in tras but in the wheel sensors so when esp is working it is applying the brakes wheel sensors feed to abs and the pink fuse is the abs fuse that everyone is pulling
Harrison@Stage6 07-05-2008, 07:10 PM I know you're new and all but, you do realize this thread in OVER 2 YEARS OLD?!?!
yaccster 07-05-2008, 07:20 PM well, we tell people to use the search function and....
Harrison@Stage6 07-05-2008, 07:26 PM Yeah, we tell them to use it to LOOK up info, not re-hash 2 year old threads. Lol.
HoustonSRT-8 07-06-2008, 08:49 AM Yeah, we tell them to use it to LOOK up info, not re-hash 2 year old threads. Lol.
When can we start pointing out bad grammar?
veyronSRT8@TTCreations 07-06-2008, 10:25 AM call me stupid here, but i do recall hearing something after one of those "SRT discussions" regarding a box or some sort of equipment that is underneath our center console that can sense when our rides get unstable....this then in turn kicks on the ESP...is this not true then? havent looked or anything.
