navyavi469 07-22-2007, 07:06 PM Thats the first blacked-out SRT I've liked... nice job.
2010drive 07-22-2007, 07:07 PM You have alot of nice rides, I like how you wraped most of the interior in the jeep.
renntech36 07-22-2007, 07:08 PM thanks man! See you live in Jacksonville... So do I. In fact, I saw a black SRT8 today driving down 3rd in Jax Beach. Was that maybe you? I wasnt in my truck, I was in the silver SL, so its a little harder to notice?
slow91 07-22-2007, 07:22 PM Freakin' NASTY......great job.
luvr 6.1 07-22-2007, 07:22 PM The truck looks like something from the military, I like it!!! If I owned that truck it would be my "Night Rider"....people would be totally thrown for a loop when that pulled up in the darkenss. Looks very good.Nice job.
Prjct86Man 07-22-2007, 07:24 PM renn, did you drop your srt? what tires are those?
mrfreeze 07-22-2007, 07:29 PM damn balla..nice rides and crib
renntech36 07-22-2007, 07:30 PM yeah, the truck is lowered, too much really. I am trying to figure out how to keep it this low or lower with a better ride. It rides very stiff now, almost too stiff to take on dates. I gues thats what the SL is for :) . As far as the tires, they are the Toyo 315 rears and I want to say 265 or 275 front? I cant quite recall. The tires do ride great though!
Thanks for all the love guys!
Harris
Prjct86Man 07-22-2007, 07:31 PM how did you lower it?
T-Time 07-22-2007, 07:42 PM Luke I am Your Father!!!!!!!!

Bang Bang 07-22-2007, 08:16 PM That is one sick looking SRT8, great job!
How did you lower it?
srt4me 07-22-2007, 08:50 PM that looks awesome dude..................good job
PALELLA 07-22-2007, 09:14 PM I saw your posts over on 6speed too. I am thinking about buying a GC SRT-8 and also have a Cayenne Turbo in mind. What do you like/dislike when comparing the two?
Anthony-
OurZoo 07-22-2007, 09:18 PM Niiiiiiiice job on the GC, and nice crib and rides. Congrats!
echo412 07-22-2007, 09:36 PM I live in Jax too and have a Black GC SRT-8 but I wasn't on beach and 3rd today...
DRIHEAT 07-22-2007, 10:08 PM If that GC was mine I would try to get DARTH for a license plate. "Lord Vader, your whip is ready." Very sinister.:D
maxxjeep 07-22-2007, 10:13 PM the sued really does a great job of softening that interior, but keeping it manly at the same time of course. Beautiful.
renntech36 07-22-2007, 10:44 PM I appreciate it guys! When I first got it back in ALL black, the first thing I said was, "Holy Sh*t, this thing is Darth Vader!". Then I put a darth vader sticker in between the letters of my license plate, but then it fell off. I may look into Darth for a plate, that would be funny!
As far as the lowering goes, I actually did the only thing I could and cut coils. I figured it would only be temporary because I thought people were going to come out with a drop kit, but I was wrong. I very much dislike the ride quality now, and would advise people NOT to do this. Although it looks good, the truck feels 300% more stiff.
The suede really did soften up the inside, and to me, transformed the vehicle to something more comfortable. I was at first going to do all Red Suede, but then chickened out at the last second, and stuck with black. I am happy with my decision because it really does make the truck "feel" different. Not to mention, it is dark as hell in there at night!
PALELLA- It really is up to personal preference between the two! I absolutely love both vehicles. I went through a handful, like 5, Cayenne's, 3 being Turbo's and that right there should prove to you that I loved them. The reasoning for liking this vehicle so much is that I just cant justify the price difference between the two. In all honesty, which is a better vehicle? The Porsche, hands down. Build quality, ride, engineering, everything. Which is more fun to drive and more "manly"? The SRT-8 for sure. If you can stand not having some of the comfort you may be used to, the SRT8 is the way to go. The Cayenne TT will lose to an SRT8 from the dig, and anywhere near 1st or second gear. The CTT will pull away from one on the highway though. Most people on here tended to disagree with me when I stated that, but having a few CTT's I knew I was right. But all in all, I love the Jeep, and would recommend it to anyone who is looking to have fun!

Thanks for the reply Harris! My dilema is similar to yours. The amount of vehicle you get for the dollar with the Jeep makes it very appealling. I am naturally a BMW guy (my last 5 vehicles have been BMW). I was leaning towards a new X5 4.8 but then saw a GC SRT-8 on the road and decided to head to the dealer to take a closer look. The way i see it, I can pick up a new SRT-8 FULLY LOADED for what a base model X5 starts at. The raw power of the SRT is also attracting me to the Jeep. Also it seems that Don at Champion Dodge is the man to see about SRT's and his dealership is just 5 minutes away from my business. I think i have made up my mind. Now the question is 2007 or 2008?
Anthony-
renntech36 07-22-2007, 11:24 PM you made a good choice, I promise you that.
I like some of the new BMW's, especially in the M-Line, but I think the X5 is over priced for what it is. To me, in the world of performance SUV's, it is WAY behind where it should be! The only thing appealing to me on the new X5's is the joystick shifter :)
Bullet 07-23-2007, 01:09 AM I'm just curious how many coils did you have to cut in the front and back to lower it and how much has it been lowered?
Blown-WK 07-23-2007, 08:02 AM Looks sweet Harris! You gotta help me get mine in shape as soon as I get one. Help me sell mine first...haha.
Renntech36,
Not to bust your chops too hard, but you gots to get those maxi pads out of the Jeep. If you HAVE to have them, then just put them in the jockey box.
I hate it when the wife has me goto the store to pick some up for her. Not that I am old enough to be mature enough, but there is just something about it.
You did a "killer" job on the ride, and I am really interested in the suade upgrade.
renntech36 07-23-2007, 11:26 AM Chris, did you ever go look at the ones I told you about at JCJD? Anyways, I appreciate it, I love how the truck turned out.
Where are there Maxi Pads? I think your referring to the cloth in the door, but that is just a microfiber for wiping off the inside when people decide to put there fingers everywhere! :D
Inferno SRT8 07-23-2007, 11:30 AM Renntech screw the vehicles man NICE HOME!!!!!!!!!
What do you do for a living I want in!
I cant believe no one has a spring for our trucks...such BS. all day long for the SRT-10 but not a DAMN thing for our rides...pissing me off.
SRT-8RAT 07-23-2007, 01:16 PM Nice set of rides!!
RUDE8 07-23-2007, 02:16 PM 1) Where did you get the tails tinted?
2) Are your exhaust tips painted too?
3) How sick is that S63 in acceleration? Comparisons please!
Thanks,
Phil

What do you do for a living I want in!
I agree, but if you are referring to the house in the first 2 pictures, I'm gonna guess that is the neighbor across the cul-de-sac.
Renntech, am I correct?
Cmstskrt 07-23-2007, 02:27 PM Can you tell me a little more about the wheels? Are they stock painted or custom?
RUDE8 07-23-2007, 02:35 PM Can you tell me a little more about the wheels? Are they stock painted or custom?
He had the stocks painted semi-gloss black by his paint guy.

I have to respectfully disagree. It has to be the driving. It isnt just a few tenths difference, the cayenne S is 0-60 in 5.0-5.1, whereas the jeep is 4.5-4.6. A friend of mine has a cayenne turbo S, and I really don't see where all the extra money is going. 80-90-k for turbo S would be right. Not too mention the fact that the cayenne isnt a porsche. It is a VW with porsche badging. THe engine is all prsche though. It is kind of a wannabe porsche, like the gallardo is a wannabe lambo. At least the SRT is %100 what it claims to be.
a-kon 07-23-2007, 02:38 PM If those tails are smoked, I withdraw my previous comments about them lookong ghetto. I think those are the first smoked taillights I have seen that don't make a car look cheaper.
renntech36 07-23-2007, 03:17 PM Nope not the driving, considering I drive race cars professionally, I think I can drive :D . And I believe you agreed with me in saying the CTTS isnt worth the extra money. Also, don't always believe what you read, because my Cayenne Turbo clocked 60 MUCH faster than 5.1. In fact, I ran 12.67@111 in my Cayenne Turbo with an ECU upgrade and Bypass pipes. They are very fast trucks. Up top, 80 and up, the SRT8 WILL lose to a Turbo unless it is heavily modded. The same goes for the ML63.
As far as what I do, I am linked to a Porsche, Mercedes, and Lexus dealership.
Side note, Renn..... which conector is that for your iPhone? The two connectors that I have for running in my car, are only semi-compatible with my iPhone.
renntech36 07-23-2007, 04:28 PM this is the Pioneer iPod adapter for the AVIC-D3. It fully controls the iPhone and even rings through the speakers when the phone rings! It is pretty cool. I dont think pioneer planned for it, it just works flawlessly though!
Sweet, dang, sweet.... :) Looks like it might be time for a new head unit.
SilverSRT8 07-23-2007, 06:09 PM Sweet, dang, sweet.... :) Looks like it might be time for a new head unit.
If you get the Avic D3 you need Pioneer CD-i200 iPod Interface Adapter.

Hmmmmm. 12.67... Damnt. I guess twins are gonna have to go on the SRT8 in 09!
a-kon 07-23-2007, 06:22 PM One question though. How much did the ECU and other mod add. Because A new ECU added 50+ HP to my friend's turbo audi, and I have heard as high as 100 for some cars (of course boosted only).
My question is did you happen to run stock, because given that your car is a turbo, those two upgrades might be worth a lot more than they first appear.
The reason I am so curious about all this, is after riding in the turbo S, I was convinced the SRT is significantly faster up to about 90-100mph. And this really made me happy and more excited about getting one. Now I am finding out they are closer in performance than I though :(

Just to chime in about his name. We are not affiliated with Renntech but have had quite a few of their modded mercs. We are Brumos Porsche, Mercedes and Lexus of Jax. His family owns/operates the dealerships and I get to work here and sell/drive some amazing cars.
Ink Pump 07-24-2007, 08:18 AM Very nice pictures of very cars. Just to add to the Cayenne debate I have "ein gut Freund" who works for VW and was involved in manufacturing the Taureg chassis for Porsche. yes nice Porsche engine but hard to justify the difference
CentralTexHemi 07-24-2007, 10:13 AM Nice rides, looks like we have the same tastes. My toys are
1. 2007 Grand Cherokee SRT8
2. 2007 SL 550 Mercedes Benz
3. 2008 Cayenne Turbo (girlfriends ride)
out of all of them the MB is hands down the best ride and has the best seat of the pants feel on accelleration, but I have no real comparrison between the 3 in a head to head run. That poor Cayenne never gets drove hard she is scared of it

Remember...newbie here so excuse the questions.
Your post originally said "Murdered SRT8" but it looked really sharp, then later you showed pictures of it wrecked (really sorry to see that BTW...it was a sharp looking vehicle).
Did it get totalled before and you rebuilt it and then it got totalled a second time?
Just curious because the post dates are miles apart from the first to the last.
Excuse the confusion.
Cheers!

And it's more like hater, even someone retarded would dig an SL, which is just a smidge different than an S550 or S63 for that matter.
More to the point, b!tchin' ride (past tense) let it rest in piece and best of luck to renntech on the M5...

2BADGN 10-27-2007, 12:09 PM Any Updates??
DiMisa1977 10-27-2007, 09:50 PM I have to respectfully disagree. At least the SRT is %100 what it claims to be.
not to hijack, but have you ever driven a gallardo? i think not. spend a few hours in the driver's seat then let me know if you think the car is a wannabe.
domeztictunerz 10-31-2007, 09:26 AM NOooooooo my dream gc just got totalled?! Ahhhh i wanted a murdered out one so bad!
renntech36 11-01-2007, 11:22 PM hey guys. It turns out the accident wasn'tnear as bad as it looks. 95% visual, 5% suspension. There was no frame damage whatsoever, and the only real damage is the half shaft and a arm on the right side suspension. Needs a new fender hood bumper and misc. parts, but all in all the truck will be fixed to like new. In fact, with the basic suspension parts the only thing faulty, the truck should not drive any different than it did before it was wrecked. I have a very respectable shop doing the work, and I am pretty happy that it isn't as bad as we all thought. In the meantime, I have to figure out if I am going to sell the truck or keep it!

agreed.. good to see ya from the 6! anyways, this guy must not have a clue. To call a Cayenne a fake porsche is just funny, and to call a G a fake lambo is even better. Love the Jeep, but the reason the Cayenne is so much money is because it is worth it in every aspect. I've had 4, and don't regret a single one! Love the Jeep, but it is just a different type of SUV. As far as a Gallardo. Please drive one then tell me it's a fake lambo. It's as pure as any exotic out there right now...

SRTLUVR 11-02-2007, 12:02 AM You guys live in a whole other world driving cars like that.....I've been in Vipers, Z06s, Porsches, etc. But you guys are apparently in a whole other realm of automobile posession. First Off, let me say there is no Tone in this message and I have no intent of being rude, just blunt. With that said....
I will happily say the G is not an authentic Lambo. The points you are arguing are irrelevant.
Let's give an example. Seiko buys out Rolex. They decide that with the market today, and how important image is, and how bad people want to make other people think they are rich, they are going to introduce an affordable line (i.e. H2,H3; Gallardo; Aston Vantage; etc.). So seiko builds a watch using rolex design and some rolex mechanics. The final product is a $500-$1000 Rolex. It is mostly the child of Seiko, but it bears the rolex badge. It works well and is a great quality watch.
The fact that it says rolex, and that it works well and is of great quality, are all irrelevant to the fact that it is not an authentic rolex.
The gallardo is a great car. It is an exotic. However, It is not a pure-bred lamborghini. It shares a platform (and basically engine) with an Audi. You can argue all day long but the facts are there.
The H2 is an even bigger example. Hummer announces a vehicle that the average Joe can afford and off everyone goes to buy one. Had they just bought it because they liked it I would back off. But it is all the damn name droppers. Why is it all the H2 people always say my hummer this my hummer that, indicating a $100k+ exotic vehicle, when they in fact have a glorified/modified tahoe.
DJ_Bimmerpages 11-21-2007, 10:46 AM this is the Pioneer iPod adapter for the AVIC-D3. It fully controls the iPhone and even rings through the speakers when the phone rings! It is pretty cool. I dont think pioneer planned for it, it just works flawlessly though!

Well it seems like you have got your mind made up on that topic, but I will still disagree.
So our Vanquish S is the Cream of the Crop Aston Martin and it shared parts with a Taurus. Does that make it a non authentic Aston Martin, because it is about as prime as it gets. When we had a Phantom it had the same interior components as a 745i, even the key. That doesn't make it not authentic. In fact, it had a BMW engine in it, as you state the Gallardo does. I understand that the Gallardo has components from an Audi, but rarely now a days are cars made of their own product. Honestly, the Gallardo is hands down probably the best Lamborghini ever made, thanks to Audi. It's the only one that could really be daily driven. It's driveability and reliability are worlds ahead of the Murci or any previous model Lamborghini. It performs, sounds, smells, looks, and breaths Lamborghini IMHO.
Oh and just for the fact, I had an H1, and it was single handedly the largest, literally, piece of **** I have ever owned in my life. I will never go down that road again, and would GLADLY take an H2 over one every day of my life.. :)
AGray34 11-29-2007, 02:31 PM I was under the assumption that Audi, Porsche, and Volkswagen "share/swap" parts. The G is TOP OF THE LINE lambo. Anyone who has ever ridden in one will agree. I did not drive, but I was the passenger in one. I have also been told by a buddy of mine who only deals in exotic cars that the G is the most desirable Lambo out there right now.
a-kon 11-30-2007, 02:12 PM Well it seems like you have got your mind made up on that topic, but I will still disagree.

Good point, and to answer your question, yes it does make it less of a pure breed (to me) accross the board. The only exceptions to me are cars that started off sharing parts...i.e. viper, vette. Not too mention their price tags. When you are paying $170+ for a car I would expect to not have shared parts.
Furthermore, it isn't really the shared parts that bother me. It is the shared platform. The R8 and gallardo, while completely different autos, are still very similar in design.
As for the phantom. That is an exceptional case and I would say anything shared in the interior is a huge let down. That is supposed to be the cream of the crop. Truthfully I think it is an OK rolls that was marketed towards the ridiculous rapper crowd. I am not impressed by the Phantom nor am I by the Continental GT.
Lastly, I am fully aware that the gallardo is a great car. I do not deny anything about the gallardo's quality and performance that you have mentioned... I do not like it because it has made lambos a common sight. I see ferraris frequently and because of that they do not do much for me. I never saw lambo's. Never. They were very rare. Nearly any night I go out I will see at least a few gallardos. And they aren't the same guys every night.
THe other issue that makes me hate is name droppers...type who stretch their income to purchase it, and then constantly say their lambo this that everywhere they go.
I do not doubt that if you took a pontiac solstice (could be another cheap sporty car), slapped a ferrari badge on it, you could sell it for 50-60k and people would buy it simply to have a ferrari. I guess it is just a pet peeve of mine.
I don't discriminate in my view either. I am a viper nut, but the increase in the numbers of vipers and thus viper owners has taken some of the thrill out of it. Seeing numbers jump above 1500 annual production sickened me. IMO, 750 coupes, 750 verts per year max.
I enjoy these debates. Helps expand my point of view.

Read the thread...::rolleyes:
Mango 12-12-2007, 09:54 AM If you really want to read something scarey, go over to Lamborghinitalk.com and read the posts from those that own Gallardos and Murcies....
clutch rebuilds every 4 to 6,000 miles....$1,000+ oil changes....WOW! Gotta pay to play I guess.
That being said, I'd still love to own a Gallardo someday. Like it or not, it's still a proper Lambo. Akon has a distorted view of things with no substance to back anything up. Who cares that it's platform is shared. It's one heck of a platform that is still better than anything we have here in the US. Our cars are rubish (mostly) compared to the much higher quality Euro marks.

I agree. That thing is sick. I didn't see it answered anywhere in this thread, does anyone know how those wheels were blacked out? I'm seriously thinking about trading in my 03 cobra on a GCSRT8 and if I do I want to make it look just like this one

Powdercoated satin black.
Stangman701 12-13-2007, 01:47 PM Don't do that ... just have both ... ;)
If I got the GC I'd be doing a lot of mods to it so I'd probably sell the cobra to fund that. I'm pretty bored with that car at this point. It's no fun not having traction on the street that's the main reason I want this truck.
Stangman701 12-13-2007, 01:49 PM Powdercoated satin black.
Any idea how they omitted the SRT section in the powdercoating process? I've never powdercoated anything, seems like it would probably be more difficult than just taping it off though.
sentipede 12-13-2007, 04:26 PM from what I understand, he powdercoated the entire rim black and then hand painted the SRT with silver paint....
bankrman 12-13-2007, 04:43 PM from what I understand, he powdercoated the entire rim black and then hand painted the SRT with silver paint....
From page 4 of this thread:
He had the stocks painted semi-gloss black by his paint guy.
Hmmm...
renntech36 12-15-2007, 03:05 AM these were powdercoated satin/semi gloss and the SRT8 was just painted in with a fine brush in silver. The indention is large enough that it can be done fairly easy and without much experience. Also, if you mess up, all you have to do is wipe off the paint before it dries, and if it does, use a very light mineral spirit solution!!!

I had both the bumper and the front lip painted by my dealer. I had several places tell me the paint would not stick put have yet to have any problems. I also had the side moldings painted by the same dealer 6 months ago and they still look great. The front lip piece is held on with double sided tape so very easy to remove. To get the rear bumper piece off we removed whole bumper but were able to do it.

Cover it up with black vinyl...thats what I did on mine.
bankrman 12-18-2007, 10:57 AM I've heard good and bad about that. Does it actually look like tape up close? Any peeling?
Thanks!
Matt McKenzie 12-18-2007, 01:25 PM I think mine looks good, but I put it on in the winter, and it has just now started to peel because it was never really heated...so learned my lesson there. But, it peels right off and I will try it again in the Summer.
Any word on the repair status????
AirForce Hemi 12-24-2007, 02:45 PM It is lowered. He cut the springs. and the headlights are painted.. not covers..
The head lights dont look like they have been painted. Those look like real molded plastic covers. If you take a pic and zoom up on it you can see it clearly.
renntech36 12-26-2007, 03:42 AM recently sold the Jeep to a friend of mine who should get pretty extensive in modding it. He also works at the body shop who has the truck so it should be fixed perfectly.
Headlights had NO covers, and were painted.

renntech36 12-27-2007, 03:48 AM Chris,
Ill give you a shout when I get back to Jax next month. I had to sell to Mike for the $$$ because I got jacked by insurance. But be ready for him! He's doin a shot, a tune, and some wicked exterior work to it.
SkyeHighSRT8 08-27-2008, 09:58 AM So is there any news on how the father of all murdered GCSRT8 is doing these days? You would think the new owner would be around, that jeep is famous.
Harrison@Stage6 08-30-2008, 10:48 PM I ran into mike not too long ago. Jeep looked fantastic. I think he's on the connection. His screen name is Boosted something or other. That used to be his old lic. plate on his sick sick Supra that made the cover of Turbo Mag. He hasn't done anything to it yet when I saw him. He doesn't fool around when it comes to his rides. I've known him about 13 years I guess and he's always had pimped out rides. I guess he's maintaining that rep. with the Jeep. :D
SkyeHighSRT8 08-30-2008, 10:55 PM thanks for the news, I'm glad that jeep is still kickin.
Blown-WK 08-31-2008, 11:03 AM Yeah I saw him a few days ago. He runs the body shop that does a lot of our work. Last he told me was he was gonna throw some juice on it and let it rip. He did say he wanted some new springs though...LOL. That thing is so low it looks like it has bags and rides like $hit. Us guys with eibachs think we have it bad. Just ask him how his rides:D

They want to do some measuring first and then we'll order parts. Gotta get the BOV and Wastgate and some gauges. :D I just loving buying crap! We need to measure out for the front mount intercooler too. Trying to decide if I should leave the mesh grill over the intercooler or not. It will look sick having it naked but I think I might need some protection. I would like some kinda of mesh that's smaller ya know? Too many choices and descisions coming up.
