Do you plan to offer any boost friendly 440's in the future??
What do you consider boost friendly? I can lower the compression easily. 5psi? 10psi? 20psi? I need more info. Why would you want to boost a 440? If you have a blower/turbo, you dont need cubes. You have a much stronger build with a smaller motor.
Fastest Challenger: 406ci
Fastest Charger/Magnum/300: 370ci
The fastest Jeep has a big motor, but Keoni might catch him soon with his 392.
My point is that there is no point in boosting a 440 when you can make just as much power and have a much longer life-span with a 392. To answer your question, yes we can make it boost friendly but the real question is how long will it last. I will not offer a warranty on a boosted 440 though if that helps answer the question any.
SrtJake 08-09-2011, 01:38 PM Well, what I'm thinking is its not common to see a boosted 440. And it looks like you answered why that is. My thinking was though,to get the most cubes for the money, the low end sheer torque of the 440 would be the ticket.
Then I could throw my Vortech on top of it and make some real power. That was my thinking. I wouldn't be doing more than 12 lbs myself.
In a nutshell,I wanna do a forged 6.1 with my Vortech. Then I'm thinking if I'm already spending a few thousand, why not go all out and get the most power I can,so a 440 would work nicely.
But with no warranty,I wouldn't wanna go there.
What is the Hp and Tq difference between your 392,426 and 440 motors?
The vortech will never make 12psi on a 440. It probably wont make 12psi on a 426 either. The T-Trim barely made 12psi on keoni's 392. The bigger the engine, the more area the blower has to fill and the less boost you see as a result. The vortech on a 440 would be extremely inefficient. A 6.1 is what that blower really should be used on. The T-trim is great on 393. For a 426/440 size motor, you need a ysi

And what does this have to do with Andy's 440 thread? It has nothing to do with the 440's that are on sale or boosting the said 440's.

C'mon Joe - you know better than that. Please start your own thread for something like this. Or better yet, SEARCH and then start your own thread if you still can't find the answer!
And for the record, yes it has been done. ;)

79Steeler 08-09-2011, 02:34 PM Hi all. Strange place for a first post, I know.
I have a bone stock 2010 SRT8 GC 16k and want to know what additional mods I would need to get the most power out of the 440 long block. IE: Intake, exhaust, throttle body, tranny, torque converter, flex plate???
Im a total newb to all this, but I know one thing when I get a new motor built Andy's gonna get the build.
Also I live in Phoenix Arizona, any Qualified installers in my area, and or tuners?
sorry for all the questions, like I said total newb.

I'm glad I am not a moderator around here.....
As for thinking it was a vortech thread....did you read the title? Any of the other posts in this thread? As for the comment about me leaving the thread, not happening.
Andy, my apologies for turning this thread sideways. I'm done commenting on little joey here.

If you want to run one of Andy's 440 N/A....Here's the list of sh!t I would recommend:
440 w/ Heads and Cam (Long Block)
Ported Manifold
90mm Throttle Body
CAI
Torque Converter
Fuel Rails
Injectors
Tune
Tranny
Headers
Cat-Back Exhaust
And then drive around with wood 24-7:D
What he said and I'd get some new injectors..
79Steeler 08-09-2011, 03:07 PM Thanks 1Bamfr.
Any idea on H.P. and Torque Numbers with this 440 and Correct set up and toon?
Also what kind of quarter mile times would I expect to see running a stroker like this?
P.S. 1BAMFR Your Jeep is sick ass Beast!!!!!

Keoni nailed the supporting mods to go along with it. I dont estimate power numbers without knowing your before numbers. I also dont want to estimate track times as I have no clue what each driver is capable of nor what their weight and DA would be but I will try.
Hp: Between 450-600rwhp depending on the dyno
Track Times: Between 10.95 and 13.50 depending on driver, weight, DA, tune, etc.
I know those answers are useless, but its a question I cant answer correctly. Just too many variables.
Lets assume the following.
Stock SRT8 Jeep: 13.4
Heads/cam/intake: 12.3
426 Stroker: 11.7
Vortech 8psi: 11.6
440 Stroker: 11.4
Thats my opinion on how they would compare. If your stock Jeep is faster than that, you might be faster with the 440.
Thanks 1Bamfr.

Funny you mention that..... if I wasn't doing the 440 build, a forged 6.1L turbo would have been the route I would have taken! :)

79Steeler 08-09-2011, 09:36 PM Thanks to everyone for the great answers.
I think I need to think about what I want to do. Im kinda leaning towards a 426 forged for the simple fact that I would have no where to go if I went the 440 route. I also need to decide if I want to go low compression 392 that I could boost someday.
Thanks again to everyone for taking the time to answer my questions.
