Ram SRT10....bought it 2 months ago....first truck I have ever owned, and the last...

black Viper SRT10....engine was modified for more horsepower when it was brand new....drove it about 4K miles and sold it

I was looking into buying a Charger SRT along with the GC, the Chargers just look so mean, I love it. It really brought back that old school, big car huge engine feel. Then I went a drove 06 Corvette, and well, I think I'm going to buy the Corvette. The C6 is just so impressive, it makes the C5 look like a Camaro. I was hoping to get a Z06, but they are nutz with the prices on those right now.

I'd be interested to hear what handling upgrades guys have done on there Chargers, are there any track worthy packages out there?

Wait til the Z06 prices go down, it's worth it. Then get one. They get 26 mpg highway. Whenever I hear about the Z06, I have to mention that to whoever's listening. Viper prices are also going down. Keep an open mind when purchasing that new vehicle; you never know what you're going to find. Good Luck!

06 GC but I have one a srt4 that has never had the lable a high output turbo pt cruiser. Which should now be over 270 hp. SRT but no lable and it out handles the Jeep with my upgrades.

ronald mcglothlin, So, they're pretty stealth. The PT Cruiser was just begging for mods when it came out. 270 hp is not too bad out of a turbo four-banger. That's ~4 short of the Mazdaspeed 6, and that's an awesome car! Good Luck!

Just curious...This is the second GC I have seen pics of on the forums that have the little black (what looks like cushioning piece) in center of strut brace. Mine is 12/05 build and does not have this piece. Also, is second pic with the headlight covers missing. Page 335 in manual. I wonder if they have done away with these protective covers, (I have em), or what?

i do have a cover of some kind, it is clear plastic and looks just like the pic on the front of the manual..maybe it has changed...Also the little black cushioning piece - well u know when u do squats at the gym and u put that roll of black rubber on the bar to protect u're neck - well the piece on the jeep is just like it - it comes right off.

Maybe i could see a pic of someone elses headlight covers

If you have the SRT8 manual for Jeep, go to page 335 you'll see what I am talking about. Most likely is for protection from the elements. Snaps into place oover the open space you see behind your headlamp assemply and battery. Makes for a much cleaner look too. They simply slide under at the front edge and snap down in back. You would normally only remove them to access back of headlight to change bulbs.

I have an SRT-4 and a Ram SRT-10.
Surprisingly, I like my car better than my truck sometimes...
I'm looking to get rid of the Ram, and get a Cherokee SRT-8 maybe next year.

Peace,

Chrysler could have very well stopped using the covers. If they are not 100% benificial in performing a function, then most likely they got thrifted out to save the company some money. This continual thrifting has been going on since the 2003 models as far as I can tell. This is based on comparing my 03 Jeep GC Limited to a co-worker's 02 GC Limited and noticing little things missing here and there.

BTW - I am angling to complete a GC SRT-8 purchase this weekend. If done, I will have two SRT vehicles. The other is a 04 SRT-4. Pictures to follow if it pans out. Wish me luck.
