I'll be at Waterfest all weekend, the #1 VW exhibition, race, autoX event in the country.

Saturday I'll be racing and learning at the Autocross school for 3 hours, then chillen at various booths with Forge and a few others. Sunday I'll be racing in the time attack events.

Anyone else going? It's at Englishtown. People come from all over the WORLD to this show.

Here is a preview of some of my GTI MkV VW friends that will be there:

The amazing, incredible, astounding..... and completely unassuming....

Thunder Bunny!
This car could hand us our AZZ.... including any ASM supercharged Jeep, turbo, whatever.

And this car could too, I'm basing my build on my GTI around this one. The .:R-GTI

Now to be fair, both of these cars were commissioned by VW of America and built by APR, the company that had the professional DJ and booth girls.

A completely matte finished Mk4. Interesting.

A nice Porsche.

Some of the crowd, the scope of this event really can't be fully appreciated until you're there. I wish we had something like this for the SRT's, or just Mopar cars in general.

My car at the Autocross school and run, bright and early (8am)! I placed second overall for the day with a final time of 39.008! Fastest run of the day was by another car....

This one!! Kid did a VR6 swap, completely emptied it out, it's a dedicated track car. His best was a 38.115

The best was this guy who showed up with his brand new RS-4. He couldn't drive worth a damn, and that's understood. You spend 70 grand on a car so it drives for you, right? Well, he was incredibly c.o.c.k.y all day....and kept bragging about how he's shredding his tires up and needs to buy new ones. My goal was to beat him in the AutoX, as was everyone elses goal. He came in like 5th or 6th, I forget.

In this shot, we had to navigate a circle of cones as our last "element" in the course, you should be as close as possible to the cones, as I'm sure Alex would agree. I was about a foot or closer to them throughout the day, it's DAMN hard. This guy...well I'll let the picture tell you.

A nice Mk4, he was a cool guy. Ran some fast times, nice and smooth. Here he is entering the circle.

Another Vendor row shot, overall it was an amazing time. Can't wait for next year!

Very cool Mango, I love the idea of the ultimate Q ship. A good friend of mine is thinking about getting rid of his '01 Z06 and getting an R32. He wants to build one that can whup an '07 Z06. Hell, me too!! I'd sell the Jeep for something like that.

Easily done, all you need is money. APR or AWE Tuning, the shop I use and prefer, can build you a 695whp all wheel drive R32, for about 20grand in parts/labor! lol

But, if you factor in $32 grand for a new, fully loaded R32, and the 20 grand in parts, you're still talking about an amazing death trap to be driving around in for the price! lol

Wow, that is a nicely built up Mk4! For 30 grand, if he dosen't want to mess with it and just keep it for what it is, then sure it's fine. Considering how well rounded those mods are, I'd say go for it. My only worry would be the clutch and transmission....

Mk4's are notoriously "loose" feeling in the body, meaning the chassis is not nearly as well built as the Mk5's (new GTI's). If I were him I'd get a MkV R32 for only 2 grand more, and just use that as the ultimate starting platform. He'll have a full warrenty, and all of the newest updates that the Mk5's have to offer.

i fiquered i'd ask you since your the vw guru..my only concern i had was the mileage under 300 miles and over 500 hp.....my brother called the guy who was selling it and his answer was"his son bought a house and couldn't afford have both" seemed kinda strange dump all that money into something like that and not drive it much less afford it..??? i personally like the r32 but still to sloooow..

Yeah, it looks to me like he definetly spent some time in planning his mods. I'm concerned why he didn't upgrade the clutch to a Peloquin or similar unit, or touch the transmission. Mk4 trannys were very weak and easily broken, especially on the VR6's.

The new R32's are slower than chipped GTI's w/ 2.0T yeah, but just wait and see what the tuning houses are going to be creating for them. Muahahhaha, I got a taste this weekend, let's just say that WE need to watch out for them in our trucks. For as little as 2500 there will be a GIAC package for those cars that will turn them into monsters.

just great i can see it now..we spend thousands to get faster and they only need a couple of grand to blow our doors off..

First you got me smacking the screen on my laptop trying to kill that virtual bug in your signature...

Now I'm having flashbacks of my watercooled V-Dub days...Rabbits, GTIs, Sciroccos, Corrados...

5 bikes and 3 rides and a two-car garage (not including the room @ my shop) I was looking at loosing my Magnum and building out a crazy diesel but now you got me thinking...

That and those VW commercials where they were un-pimping the ricers...those were a howl!

Bastitch!
