Alright.... I really want to get this going. I personally like the look of our front end better than the 08's, it's meaner. Also, I think the 08 projectors look out of place...theres just something about them that looks funny. But who knows, maybe they will look better in person because we are all only making our assumptions based off that one picture. Here's what I would like to do...I think the single-xenon 2.5" projectors and shrouds out of the e46 BMW would look perfect. All you have to do is turn the shorouds upside down and they would fit perfectly in the semi-circle of our SRT8's low beam housing. And our high beams would function as normal. We could allign them like normal because the projector will be mounted to the reflector in the retrofit and we will not have to worry about tieing in the auto-leveling feature of the 08' headlamps, yet alone all the other work of making them fit. I bet it will be impossible to even get the auto-leveling feature from the 08' headlamps to work if they were swaped into a 06' or 07' because the wiring will come from the cars computer and our jeeps are not pre-wired for that. You could even add the AAC angel eyes and paint around the housing if you wish while its all apart. BUT.....that brings me to my problem! How do you get our housings apart? It seems that the glue is too strong to soften by baking without damaging the other componets. I bought a damaged test dummy headlight to do this and the glue never came soft...even after excessive heating that damaged the housing it still wasnt soft! Is there a trick that I am missing!?!? Do they make a set of aftermarket headlights for our jeeps that are easier to seperate? This has the potential to be really cool and give us an awesome new facelift that is better than the 08's! I have done this before in my friends WJ limited and it turned out amazing...but I did do the retrofit in the aftermarket projector housings for the WJ so it was a little easier! I am ready to roll so all help is much appreciated!!!! -Phil

If anything, could somebody please tell me how they have seperated the headlamp lens from the housing without damaging anything?

Hey Phil - there is a forum called HID Planet - www.hidplanet.com.

Go there and then go into the forums. Be prepared to get the Noob comments if you are not careful, but these guys are hid freaks and very good with their stuff. They have done retrofits on our lights there, so someone will be able to help you if you post. The glue is called Butal or smthg like that and I understand that our lights do come apart. Also, someone on the LX forum did a projector retrofit on his Jeep and posted pics. Looked pretty good. That member would also be a good help.

I had a local toronto guy lined up to do mine with TSX projectors (supposed to be the best) and Mercedes bezels. I didn't go through with it because I installed the HID kit and figured it was good enough, and without spare headlights, I would have lost my truck for a bit. Good luck, I think the retro would be awesome.
