I'm dropping off my GC SRT for its first service on Monday. I was just wondering if anybody knows whether or not a TSB for "The Thud" (20mph transmission self-check) has been released.

it's not from the xmission, i think it's from the xfer case. and there is none forthcoming, it's a feature, not a bug.

I have noticed that the thud is not as noticeable if you're in a higher gear, say 3rd compared to 1st.

Mine has really decreased as the milage has gone up. Use to do it all the time now maybe 1 or 2 time a month. They said it will decrease the more you drive.

Awesome, glad to hear that over time it will gradually disappear or at least become less noticable. Thanks for all your input.

Hmmmm, it's funny because when this thread started I really had to think about how often this occurs to my truck because I basically forgot about it, and it is very rare now. What year is your truck, and how many miles you have? Mines an 06 with 8,956miles, I did have that TSB on "Drive Line Noise" maybe this has something to do with it?

Did you have that TSB done for the drive line noise? Maybe this lessens it? I do know it really quieted up the "all wheel drive line" noise in my vehicle.

'07 with 15k...does it every startup at 20+ mph. Very used to it and it would seem odd if it was not there.
I will see if it is still there with the new 9" Ford. Oh yeah, the modified trans, oh and the modified transfer case.

Bet it is still there as an electronic check.
