Is there anyone local in Washington State that would be willing to help me out with the imfamous squeal? I just purchased the vehicle, 08 GCSRT8, and right out of the dealership it squealed and figuring the noise would fade away after a couple hard stops, that is not the case! Every morning and on almost every startup the noise is literally like a freight train. The salesman was so fed up with me he offered to pay for it out of his pocket, but Les Schwab next door did it for free for him. All they did was clean everything off. Problem solved for one drive home. The noise is back again. I want to try the perma-tex and auto-seize the other members are talking about but I'm a complete newby when it comes to working on cars as much as I would love to try to:freak5:! Ask me to put some headlights in or give the car a good wash and i can get the job done!:werd:

If someone can tell me where i can get the products and has a free Saturday or Sunday, that would be very appreciated! This noise is driving me insane and embarassing sometimes when im driving through my neighborhood and all my neighbors are like dude..didnt you just buy that rig and it sounds like that already? :notsigned:

I'll bring the beer..... or Hennessy? whichever you prefer?

Thanks in advance if anyone can help a fellow member out!

I'll meet up with you. I can help you check out your brake. I've replaced my brakes already so it might be what you need but we'll see. Go to autozone, napa or oreilly's one of them should have the product that your looking for.
How many miles on your Jeep?
I'll be moving to Kent this next couple of weeks.

The above is from what I posted and it works but not forever save yourself more time in the future and replace the pads with the stop tech street pro pads and install them with the above listed.

Thanks yungsrt! I don't mind driving to wherever you are if you are within an hour driving distance from Kent. But if you're busy with the move, then no worries. Really appreciate it man!

CentralTexHemi, where's the best place to get the stop tech street pro pads from? Would it be smarter to just replace the rotors at the same time or would the pads do the job as far as the squealing goes? Oh and i can do all this with keeping my stock Brembo calipers? Sorry for the many questions...rookie in the making!:hat:

So i was looking on amazon and i found the stoptech street pro pads for $86.35. Is there a better price somewhere else or is this pretty reasonable? My question is will this stop the squeal or is it MUST that i get the R1 rotors to go with it? As much as i would love to get the R1 rotors right now..it's just not going to work in the budget. I will probably get them in a few months but in the mean time..I really gotta get rid of this squeal! Figured I will try to use the solution first and if that doesn't work..then get the pads and go from there.

Mine did the same.
I replaced pads and rotors at same time.
It's been great since then.
Check R1 Concept, vendor on this forum. I got hawk ceramic pad with sloted rotors.
It's been quiet since then. Knock on wood. And my rims don't get as dusty either.
A little more soft then stock braking power but you get used to it. It's really not that bad.
Good luck.

How many miles on your JEEP Jerrin?
If you have too many miles on your brakes, it's better if you just replace all of it.

There are 2 vendors on here that sell those pads R1 and the new Rotor company (uggh name slips my mind) I got mine from R1 but if you PM the guy that runs their section you get a better price than advertised. Knowing what I do now if you plan on upgrading your rotors do it now with the brake pads Im going to have to repaint my calipers LOL

If the rotors are in good shape I don't see the need to change them, replace them in the future when you have to. The permatex "fix" is just going to be temporary, replace the pads.

33K. The pads were recently replaced by the dealership and they told me straight up, "We didn't replace them with Brembo pads, they are too expensive so we replaced them with generic pads that meet safety standards." I would replace all of it at once in a heartbeat but it just wouldn't be feasible at the moment. I figured maybe i can try the 'permatex temporary fix' and then change it all in a few months.

definitely new pads all the way around. mine stared out squeeling in the front, so i relplaced those first... now the backs are starting so guess its time to do those as well. BUT, if you repalce the pads, you NEED to turn your rotors so the start out smooth. If not, your pads will wear unevenly and you'll be back in the same predicament sooner than later.

So I decided to take all your guys' advice and just make the move to the R1 Rotors and Hawks Ceramic Pads. Steven at R1 Concepts was great help! Can't wait to get all of it installed and enjoy braking with no noise!!

YungSRT - I'd still like to meet up when you get in town. I'd love hear the Corsa in person.

Any recommendations on a DIY? Specific lubricants?

Appreciate all your guys help and advice!!

I can meet up with you the weekend after next week. I will be residing in Kent by then.
I can help you install the brakes. Might even bring "Jeep Mystery" is he's game, he got the Borla on his rig.

That sounds great! I'd love to hear the Borla as well cuz that's actually the exhaust I was aiming towards but am yet to actually hear any in person. Let me know if I need to get anything prior to the install. Shoot me a PM or text/call. ph. 206.859.3710.

Buy some brake cleaner at least two. Brake quite lube, anti seize (not really necessary), some type of meat to eat and some brew......LOL.
I'll contact you sometime this week.

Alright, I'll take care of all that this week. The rotors/pads come in tomorrow. Look forward to your call. Is Jeep Mystery gonna come through? Just so I know how much food/brew to get...I'll probably have my buddy with his CTS-V come through as well.

I just pm'd him so hopefully he gets back at me soon.

Stupid question but do you have all the necessary tools (sockets and BFH)?

To be honest, I do not. Anytime I needed to work on a personal car, i would just go to my buddy's house when his dad wasn't home (his dad was a mechanic). If it's inexpensive, I don't mind just purchasing whatever I need. I'm sure it will come in handy in the future.

Let me know in detail please if you need me to grab any tools prior. I'm bringing some ribs so stay:hungry:

Just need some sockets and wrenches. A rubber hammer of some kind for knocking the rotors of. A flat head screw driver and a torque bar for your wheels (not really necessary).
Make sure you have a the necessary "lubes" for the brakes as well.
