: Should I buy an GC SRT8?
Nicky Pass 07-05-2007, 02:42 PM I posted in the performance section and got some good info, but I'm still up in the air here. I want a GC SRT8, but if I buy one....it will be my daily driver. I currently own a 2003 Cobra vert and a 1996 Honda Accord coupe as my daily driver. I like my Cobra, but the thought of ONE vehicle, One insurance bill and ONE space in my ONE car garage is kind of nice. What (if any) are known problems with the GC....and strange issues? How are they in all types of weather? I live in Chicago....winter can suck! Feel free to tell me anything else you think I should know!
Thanks!

A bunch of us have owned, or currently own, BMW M series, Mercedes AMG, etc......as well. Consider the fact that people on this forum continue to own their Jeep, some more than a year now (Teda (who owns a BMW M3) and General Confusion ( who owns a Mercedes AMG) come to mind right of the bat). My last two rides were BMW's, and I've had the SRT8 Jeep since 01/06; and I still have absolutely NO desire to go back to my prior rides.

I was in a similar position to yours, made the decision, and haven't looked back :D
I had a modified 03 Mach 1 that was my fun car (no where near as fast as your Termy) and a 99 SVT Contour as my daily. I loved both cars and had a blast driving the Mach in the summer. I was really hesitant giving up the Mach, but as soon as I test drove the SRT8 I was sold. I didn't want to give up the seat-of-the-pants thrill, the great/comfy seats, and the "wow" factor of the Mach but the Jeep covers them all. Actually, I get way more looks and attention in this Jeep than I ever did in my Mach, which really surprised me. As you mentioned, the 1 car payment, 1 insurance payment, and being able to park my daily driver in the garage were great perks as well. It's also awesome to enjoy my "fun" vehicle every day of the year, not just on the sunny days between May and September.
As far as problems...I've had mine for about 5 months and 7,000+ miles now and haven't had one issue (knock-on-wood). I took a road trip to Miami a couple of months ago and it was a great vehicle for that as well. Many will say that the gas mileage is an issue, but, IMHO, you don't buy a vehicle like this if you are concerned about MPG.
Just my (long) 2 cents. The best thing you can do is test-drive one and see if it's what you want.

T-Time 07-06-2007, 12:14 PM Wait till you see how much your car insurance will decrease. I think it's considered a utility vehicle.
I had a non-srt 300c. When I traded for the Jeep, it dropped 600.00 a year.
I Love tooling around Chicago in mine!! I use it to deliver surgical sets everyday to area hospitals. I might be bragging but it's the Most BadAss Delivery Truck I've seen:D :D
I smile every time I "auto-start it."
Neg.- I'm concerned that I sometimes illegally park, and I'll get towed and they won't use a bed-truck.
Are tow guys smart enough to know it's all wheel drive? I wonder what happens if they try and tow it?
Conclusion: Just get it! There is something different about these Jeeps.
GoodLuck,
See Ya Around (Literally),
