Well the www.drivsrt.com has the 2008 viper on it...but no other 2008 models. I got really excited when I checked it this morning, and then saw that the only 2008 model was the viper. :(

But...the new viper is friggin sweet!!! But...what is up with some of those color choices? Some of the are just horrid.

The numbers on the new viper are very impressive, 600 hp and over 1.05 G on the skid pad!!! Now that is impressive :eek: . Thats better than the z06!!!

of course chevy has the z07/ss/bluedevil whatever supposedly waiting in the wings (though its been 'coming any day now' for the last 3 years :lol: ) but at the same token dodge has demonstrated this engine with 650+hp

personally I think the viper needs a more through makeover than the "refreshing" done on the 08. 600hp is long over due for a $90,000 car with a plastic interior.

Personally i love the 08 viper and most of the time my eyes are on the road to care about whether the interior is plastic or not.. Most comfortable car i've ever sat in
DC is not worried at all about the current z06 nor any so-called upcoming Corvette SS or Blue Devil or anything like that. The SRT guys started working on the 08 Viper in 2005, in response to what they knew was on the horizon, the current Z06. The 08 Viper has a much higher red line, and very restricted VENOM programming to meet emissions, yet it still produces 600 hp...one can easily ascertain that w/ less restrictive programming alone you might be close to 630-640 hp or more. The 08 even has a dip in the torque curve at low rpm vs the 03-06, this means better traction in my view along w/ better tires. 90 plus horses, better tires, higher red-line. All this translates into CONSISTENT 08 factory Viper times of very low 11's in the 1/4 mile. The gap will widen significantly in the 1/2 mile and mile w/ the current Z06 from the extra power.
NOW, about this so-called Blue Devil Corvette...again DC is not worried. They admitted the 08 was produced in only 2 yrs, a very rushed schedule for a new Gen Viper. But they are still working and tweaking things, and they say that no matter what GM makes, they will be ready to top it! (see Viper quarterly mag)

IMO, GM just did what they do best & somewhat copied the Viper styling w/the C6.

That was the president of the VCA (Viper Club of America), he works closely with DC in development. They are coming out with 3 colors at a time, (Dark Red, Light Blue & Snakeskin Green) being the first 3.

Unfortunately I have the Viper Orange ordered with black stripes which of course is the last group, oh well worth waiting for. BTW I have a Jeep 5.7 considering an SRT8 :D
