: Raced a Modded F250...

So last night after work I went to grab a few cold ones with a buddy. As we were leaving walking towards the Jeep I see 2 guys drive by us in an F250 Diesel with only 2 wheels in the rear (not a dually). I payed no attention but did see them checking out the beast which has the newly installed race mesh grill

Back to the story... So I pull out and drive to the red light. After coming to a stop, I noticed the black F250 next to me. I noticed he pulled up right next to me. I inched forward and so did he- I knew it was on! I lowered my window and his friend lowered the passenger window next to me. I nodded my head and the driver did too- he asked, "wanna race?"- I said "sure".
So I pulled n front of him after the light turned green and we both made a left hand turn...We were rolling next to each other but there was too much traffic so were easy. We were talking w our windows down and I told him to hang a right up ahead cause it was a long strip w no traffic- he did.

After the right turn we came to a complete stop w no traffic behind us. He asked how do you wanna do this? I screamed- from the hole!
And he agreed... he told me ok just go when you're ready. (is he packin that much nos that he wants me to launch first?)
I said ok (shrugging shoulders lol) and I launched from 1500rpm! .... I heard his tires screech hard! Up by 3 and second gear came...now the lead was spreading I was up by 4 or 5 cause i could see him in my drivers side mirror..
3rd came and he was gaining little ground (back about 4 trucks still)...then I had to shut her down (top of 3rd gear) cause I was coming up on traffic fast! He flew right by when I did cause his lane was clear....

He slowed when he saw my brake lights though- and I caught back up to him. We chatted for a second. He gave me the thumbs up and said he had never seen one and wanted to see what the Jeep could do. He told me he was impressed. He said he had bolt ons...I gave him props as well.

After this quick chat we waived and I kept on my way home, he made a u-turn. Sorry for the long post but I like details when I read kill stories so I figured I'd give them as well.
Thanks for reading guys,
EX.

Good Kill! Gotta watch some of those turbo diesels can be super quick. I raced one in an 1/8 strip and he cleaned my clock. His truck runs consistant 12.2's and his best ever was a 12.1!

Good kill story, i've been meaning to find a 3/4 ton that wants to run from a dig myself.

Turbodiesels are typically 14-17 second animals. BUT, they're drivetrains are very heavy-duty, and the diesel block can take huge amounts of boost... theyr'e running diesel, which isn't exactly prone to detonation becuase the fuel burns the instant it gets squirted into the combustion chamber. they have the potential to run in excess of 40-50 even 60+ psi in some applications.

A diesel truck with a race setup will scoot that 6000 pound truck down the quarter mile in the 11's no problem... so watch out if you see 5" pipes, massive intercoolers, and a turbo that spools like its got a hamster in it. a

The turbo diesels have a lot of torque. They don't move much really, they just pull the road from underneath them.

This guy's truck is dynoed at 605 hp and almost 1300lbs of Tq:eek: at boosts between 48 & 52 psi
You could pull down a freaking bridge with that.

I disagree with that. If they don't move much then why are some of the LeMans series cars now running TDI motors?
