Im not sure what kind of dip**** had my jeep before me but it looks like he drove it on the beach the engine is covered in sand and most of the bolts have rust on them. the whole undercarriage needs to be sanded and painted to, but thats another project. I want to get the engine cleaned of all that sand its stuck on, , anyone have a good cleaner?? that and all the aluminum on the engine looks like crap too. I could use a hot water pressure washer from work but I know it wont help the aluminum at all, and I really dont want to take steel wool on the whole thing but I will if I have to.

thanks for any help

Eli

Geezus dude... Sorry to see. Thanks for posting. I would stay away from the high pressure washers to be honest. To many electrical componets could get damaged. First thing I would do is buy some simple green degreaser. Take off the intake if you have an aftermarket and plug up the TB. I would spray down the engine(cool) let it soak for 5 mins and take a wire brush to the thise bolts and anything not painted. With low pressure warm water rinse off and let it dry. See how it comes.

the washer I have is 180 deg. and under 100psi and I can use a low pressure tip, and I cant believe he got it so crappy only have 30k on it, but Ill give it a try , I WILL HAVE THIS SHINY AGAIN!!!!! its going to suck though :(, might be easier to pull the engine lol, I might just pull each bolt one at a time ,polish /paint/ replace

I would still be hesitant on on any type of low pressure. I usually just use a hose and only turn it on low. Last thing you wanna do is force any type of watter in a place it should be... Takin the block down is alot of work. Hopefully the degreaser will loosen up alot of that stuff. Beauty part of detailing an engine bay is usually its a snap to clean up again.

Where do you see rust on the injector? That's the heater core line that has rust on it.

The yellow thing... that not the bottom of the injector? After looking closer, maybe its just the reflection.

I think hes talking about the actual injector around its base in the intake manifold, that looks like rust but its not, that just got powder coated a few weeks ago, something funny about the pic i think

It looks to me like most of the aluminum is oxidized. I did some searching around and there are some products that apparently will brighten it up. Here's one, but I have no idea how good or safe it is - http://www.orisonmarketing.com/corrosion/aluminator/aluminator.html.

I use a lot of the Adams Polishes products and find the General Purpose Cleaner to be quite good for dirt, oil and grime. You spray it on and use a horse hair brush and rinse it off. Adams gives you a DVD when you purchase their products and recommends you have the engine running when rinsing it, just stay away from electrical components. I have used a pressure washer too BTW without problem, but confine it to the block.

Hey Bernie, You shouldn't have to worry about keeping up with the engine bay. Do you even have a 1000 km on the rig yet? ;)

13,000 kms on the Jeep, 19,000 kms on the 300, 8,000 on the bike.:D I steal my daughter's Jeep when the weather's crappy.

I just finished detailing my bike last week, but with this weather I don't think we'll ever get out there. Snowed yesterday and here we are in the middle of April.
