Here it its! Our first annual Wings-n-Wheels Cruise! Here's how it'll work...

On Sat, April 16th, we'll meet up at the Cars and Coffee @ the Great Indoors across from Park Meadows. The Cars and Coffee starts @ 8am and includes lots of exotics and sports cars.

Around 11:00am, once everyone shows we'll start our cruise to Conifer to the Wing Wagon in Conifer. (26367 Conifer Rd Ste F
Conifer, CO 80433) The cruise is about an hr W of Park Meadows. I've chosen to take the "back way" in to Conifer so we can all appreciate the scenery. We can then get our grub on and hang out.

Feel free to invite fellow car enthusiasts and bring a friend to make the drive more enjoyable. :p

Hey guys, I just got back from the Cars and Coffee show also at Park Meadows Mall... at the Greater Indoors Parking lot that is held there every Saturday morning. We can do both events on the 16th because the show at the Greater indoors lot starts forming up between 8:00 and 8:30 and brakes up about 10:30 just in time to make this Wings and Cruise event. They will complement each other and give you guys who have to drive a distance a little more reason to get there a little early to partake in both events. Just a suggestion

This Greater Indoor lot show is apparently the same one Rob tried to set up last year but now it appears to be going strong and they have it every Saturday.
About 80 cars there today of all kinds including a Fisker, a Nobel, couple of Vipers, several Vettes, lots of Porshas, a few hot version Mercedes, BMW"s, and a few Mustangs, and other sharp cars. Good casual group and lots of interest shown in theJeep.

They were really excited also when I suggested that this group might be interested in showing up in the next week or so... and maybe Roger and Grant would show with their turbos, etc. We could do a Wings cruise by ourselves afterwards for those who want to do the drive or hit a different resturant in the area or do the show only for those who don't.

If the weather is good, I think I will go over there again Next Saturday the 16th and then decide about the cruise.

This should work out great... especially if we can get more Jeeps, SRTS, etc. to offset all that expensive Euro stuff. I'll bet there were at least a dozen cars there that were well into the 6 figures. If Rob or one of you guys will send me a PM with your email address, I'll forward a bunch of photos of this morinings event so you can see some of what was there. (I don't know how to post that stuff).

Oh yeah, put me on the list to be there. Hey Roger... Sure would love to see you show up with your Beast... that way we will have at least one 6 figure American machine to show up some of them Yuppies.:D

It's funny watching how quick we blow by the other cars coming down 285. My vote is to always do some sort of cruise. So much more fun to drive them then just look at them!

It was good hanging around and cruisin with you guys today.

That onramp to 470 came up really quick at 140 today! I think I smoked my brakes and locked up my tires on approach to it, then looked into my rearview an saw Jamal sliding into it.

I really wish I didnt have to leave. Looks Luke so much fun. If we can would love to plan another one soon. I had a family birthday but would have loved to roll with. Let's set up another one please and soon. Was good seeing all you at the meet in the morning.

Thanks Bill! Sorry I missed you. You were just leaving the lot when I pulled up. It's quite a drive for me.

I propose a new venue and route for the next one. We meet at Bandi. They've got a huge empty lot in front of the complex. Then we could head out Morrison road and circle around back to Indian Hills and 285. Would like to make a few stops along the way for pictures next time too.

how about 110 coming down a 5-7% grade with twisties.

im just saying; i got my flame suit on - but really there is a time/place for everything.

I've got to agree Rob. Especially after seeing what just happened to one of our brethren in Houston. Just takes a small mistake at those speeds to turn to tragedy. And let's be realistic. Going all out, the N/A guys aren't gonna keep up with the blown guys, and nobody's gonna keep up with Roger. :eek: Take it to the track.

Had I known my way around the places we were going, I wouldn't have kept up with the pack. And you know it's not due to a lack of power. ;) Another aspect is I'm new up here and would like to enjoy the scenery. Maybe get some pics. Isn't that why we did the cruise in the first place? That's why I went...

I can certainly appreciate not knowing where you're going and feeling obligated to keep up in order to get home. However, that was my favorite part of the day!!!! I guess I had considered "the cruise" was over and everyone was fending for themselves at that point. I mean...that's what GPS is for ;) Don't get me wrong, I certainly understand the hazards associated with doing triple digits but it's just too much fun stretching her legs (especially with 7 other rigs). Guess I'm willing to take on the risk for the reward. What can I say...I'm young and dumb. I'm ready for the next!!!

No I would've noticed that and said something. If you download it, it'll playback larger. I think it's just the lighting, and my crappy camera, but it appears to be lighting. Just hard to see.

EDIT: Check the attachments. You can clearly see from one frame to the next both on and off states. Just angle and whatnot. You're cool bro!

I guess the speeding on the way to the wing wagon was my fault. I was in the lead and shouldve kept it at a normal speed. As far as the ride home, the cruise was over and I was following Roger to his house. I thought everyone was heading their own direction. I guess that was a miscommunication. Now that the rules have been set, I'll just sit at the back of the pack next time and let someone else set the pace.

@Phil- I didn't think our pace up Deer Creek bad by any means...sure, we were over the limit, but not by much. And I blame that damn STI on 285! LOL I think you did a great job leading once my GPS went tits up. Again, I just don't want to ruin the use of the parking lot @ the Great Indoors.

Ya know guys.. we need to be a little careful how these Beasts are preceived. If we get a rep of street racing, etc. like has happened with many of the ricers.. especially with mods, we will get more attention from the law and the do gooder, cell phone toting, fellow drivers than we really need. Especially when in a group. I know this because I've owned Vettes for years and the same kind of driving usually occures in their cruises. Great fun.. agreed but I'm glad I missed being with the group that all got tagged with a $395 fine by an irritated mountain cop last year.

I really prefer meeting at a spot rather than cruising as a group so lets offer that option in the future and old farts like Rob and I can sneak up at our leasure. If ya want to run them, then follow Wink's lead and wait for Bandi.

Also not a bad idea to review some of the posting about ROK and what happened to him in Huston. Man, that's sad.

Closer to home... We almost lost another Mopar member Friday night in Colorado Springs. The club VP of the 3M Mopar club in COS apparently got into some sort of street racing situation with an STi and totaled his beautiful trophy winning Viper. He and his date were seriously injured and they are still trying to find out exactly what happened but even if the two recover 100% physically, legal wise he is in deep do do.

It really aint worth the risk guys. :simmadown:

Well said Bill! I couldn't live with myself if I killed someone else due to my own stupidity. Hope the Viper occupants recover. I think all meets, whether there's a cruise or not, will still have the traditional meet part. I'm sure we all want to jabber and compare notes.

Well it's real hard for us young folks not to speed with the vechicle's we have. I will say I was wrong but its nothing like speeding around corners an straights just because we have the power and suspension to do that. The track is pretty fun to do but just for a short few momnents of fun (14.7sec or 12.0 below for the faster groups WINK..lol) then back of the line a wait for another 20mins to go again. Is there some kind of road course near here where we can meet up and really test our beast out? Im not going to lie if some of the speed demons out our jeep group went to the meet before this, we would have had alot of fun. About an hour of open back roads of just twists and 30mph turns.

My wifey manages and works a restaurant in Morrison called Beso De Arte, they have killer fish tacos and I can schedule ahead of time to get the seating we need..so just say the word and the time and I can get the ball rolling.

I will say I was wrong but its nothing like speeding around corners an straights just because we have the power and suspension to do that. I know for sure there is a race track probably 35 min East from denver right off I70 but I do not remember the name now.
I have been there few times watching a friend of mine running with his Ducati.
I believe if free or you have to donate something, that's all.

I am not sure about day but I will check for sure and post it.

I would love to go there one day, I believe I have a GPS log with the exact layout of the circuit somewhere...just need to find it, was 1 year ago minimum!

There is a track that is East of Denver, I doa lot of medical stand bys for when the Porshe Clubs go out there and road race. I can get directions, but basically it is a private track called the High Plains Race Way-To reach the track, exit I-70 at Byers (exit #316) and then take Highway 36 due east for 17 miles.

It's a decent little track, lots of curves.

Hope this maybe helps set up a track day

According to their lapping day policies:

-Pickup trucks or other vehicles with higher GVW’s are not allowed.

HPR allows the Cayenne out there and they weigh more than the SRT8.
