Just thought I'd stop in for a visit and invite all of the Northeast Cherokee SRT8 owners to join us for this event. The more the merrier. Let me know if you're coming and which convoy you'd like to join.

It's official ladies and gents!

Sunday May 1st will be the date for our
3rd Annual Spring Mohegan Sun Meet and Greet

Last year was a very successful benefit for HomesForOurTroops.org, but this year will be even more meaningful. This year we will be honored to host a tribute to, and a benefit for,

Nick Salerno of the US Army's
legendary 10th Mountain Division.

As many of you know, Nick was seriously injured by an IED a week before last Thanksgiving, while patrolling the mountains of Afghanistan. He has made a lot of progress with his recovery, but he still has a long road ahead of him. Many of you also know his Uncle Frank, A.K.A. 2010DETYELLOWRT, of Challenger****** Member of the Month fame. Let's all show up and thank this true American hero for his unselfish service and to give him the continued strength to fight courageously through the rest of his recovery.

More details will be released as the event evolves, but here is an overview.

We will meet in the huge parking area just outside the entrance to the Winter Garage at Mohegan Sun at 1PM.

There will be many convoys meeting at various locations in the Northeast the morning of the event.

This year we will also invite our Mopar loving brothers and sisters that own Chargers, Magnums and 300s. Please help spread the word if you frequent any other Mopar forums.

We will have two raffles. A 50/50 and a traditional raffle. If you know of any sponsors or vendors that would like to donate prizes, that would be huge. If you have some Mopar novelty items or sought after accessories collecting dust, please consider bringing them as a raffle prize. Last year's raffle was outstanding due to the generosity of those that brought great raffle prizes. Non-Mopar prizes are also more than welcome.

Last year we even had members from accross the country buying 50/50 raffle tickets via PayPal. We'll set that up again as the date draws near.

Rain date will be May 15th (May 8th is Mother's day).

April 1st Update!!

One month to go folks!! I'll try to update the list weekly and as more decisions are made and more folks show interest, so be sure to take a look as the plans evolve. If your name's not yet on the list and you intend to go, please let me know.

Great! I'll put you down as interested and hope you make it. A lot of us Challenger guys and gals drove a stock JCSRT8 at the SRT Experience and were shocked at the power and traction off the line. Can't wait to see your modded GCSRT8s!

Ten days to go folks!! Be sure to take a look as the plans evolve. If your name's not yet on the list and you intend to go, please let me know.
Let's also remember that this event is a fundraiser for a member's nephew, Nick Salerno, who was severely wounded serving our country in the mountains of Afghanistan.

If none of these convoy meeting points works for you, or you just want to sleep late and meet us at Mohegan, that is fine. We will be assembling at the large parking lot just outside the entrance to the Winter Garage at 12:45PM, and making our grand entrance at 1PM.

What more could we ask for? The forecast looks tremendous, our numbers keep growing and this will be the largest assembly of Modern Mopars to hit the East Coast ever.
Not to forget, we will be honoring and supporting Nick Salerno of the Army's legendary 10th Mountain Division on Sunday and he will be in attendance. Please try to bring a raffle prize of some kind. It doesn't need to be car related or expensive.

Something that you would like to win in the raffle kinda sums it up. It doesn't have to be car related or real expensive. Something a woman would like is nice too for the guys to bring home to someone special. Good bottle of wine, case of beer, detailing spray, microfiber towels.

Is everybody as fired up as I am? After a winter that seemed like it would never end, our first meet and geet of the season is going to be sunny and 60 degrees. Seems like forever since we were wearing shorts and sunblock. This is going to be a day to remember.

Just a few last minute details to answer any questions y'all might have about tomorrow. Here's what to expect.

12:45PM
We'll be staging all of the cars in the huge lot just outside of the Winter Garage entrance. When we actually start the parade into the
garage, we will be grouped by model, so that it will be easier to park together atop the garage. Since there will be more Challengers
than any other model, we'll lead the way followed by Chargers and so on. Since there will be so many cars, its just not practical to try and do our usual "formation pictures". It would take forever to set up. We'll get plenty of video and other still shots.
(If you brought a table or canopy, come directly to the rooftop to drop it off when you arrive. There will be plenty of time to go back
down to roll up with the convoy.)

1:00PM
I'll have a video camera set up as cars roll up to the rooftop. Folks can stop their car for a 5-10 seconds and say hello to Nick or
whatever they'd like. This way we'll have a nice shot of everyone in their ride. Someone with a clipboard will be taking screen names so that we can later superimpose them on the video during editing. This of course is voluntary, so don't sweat it if you're in the witness protection program or want to pass.

1PM-2PM
Back all of the cars neatly into spots, grouped by model.
Stop by the registration table to get a nametag, drop off raffle prizes, buy raffle tickets. Check out all of the sweet rides.

2PM
Raffles. Check out some more sweet rides.

3PM
Last year most of us hit Margaritaville and had a nice long lunch. I'll let them know we'll have a much larger group this year.
Feel free to eat wherever you like, but most of us will probably end up there. After lunch we are on our own to enjoy the casino.

Notice: This will be our 5th event at Mohegan Sun and we have a very good relationship with them and their security force. They block off the entire roof for us each time at no charge. Please refrain from spinning the tires while on their property and I'm sure they will continue to invite us back.

I didn't see any details on the meeting spot in Attleboro? Did you find that info out?
Otherwise, I can just meet up with you Paul in Warwick.
@Paulo....What time you thinking of departing Warwick?

Got to spend today cleaning the dirty Jeep. This last week was wet and dirty. I think my raffle gift will be a Mequire's Clay Bar kit.

The Coastal MA/RI Convoy will be leaving from the South Attleboro Home Depot at 11AM.
HD is on Rt. 1 right off I-95 I am told. Thanks for bringing a raffle prize. That clay bar kit is a great idea!

My computer is acting up and will be going in the shop shortly, so please forgive me if I'm incommunicato for a while after this post.

What can I say that hasn't been said already? Many thanks yous are in order. First of all to Nick Salerno and all of our service men and women, past and present who have defended us from the many evil enemies who have tried to impose their will on our great nation. Many have tried to defeat us and our way of life. None have succeeded, thanks to courageous patriots like Nick.

A big thank you to my wife, Terry, who has tolerated my Challenger inspired mid-life crisis and even supported it at times. If anybody nearby has a comfortable couch, please let me know, because I will soon be making her aware of the grand finale toy mid-life crisis. As some of you know, the BEAST and I will be competing in the Cannonball Run this labor day weekend. A Mopar must win!

Many thanks to Curta09rt, Bullett, 2010DETYELLOWRT, PDean13, nyal, PACKN8 and victory1724 for stepping up and leading the convoys from their home turf to Mohegan Sun.
Thanks to Chuck for being our "official" photographer and getting us in order for the shots presenting the cash to Nick. A big thanks to his wife Michelle and Jen(Pdean's lovely new wife) for helping out with the raffle ticket sales. Thanks to the attendees, because the raffle ticket sales were non-stop from 1-3PM. For those who don't already know, we raised $2,000 for Nick.

Thank you to all who attended and generously donated some terrific raffle prizes. I know one guy won a 87mm Modern Musle throttle body and a 2011 Challenger front spoiler. Greedy bastage.

A big thanks to Melissa Plante and all of the folks at Mohegan Sun for letting us invade their rooftop garage for the fifth time.

A huge thank you to KeysB5Blue! I met this special lady Memorial Day wekend 2010 at the SRT Experience iat the Miami/Homestead International Raceway. My wife, daughter and I made a mini-vacation of it and Theresa steered us in the right direction to enjoy the Florida Keys, her home turf, to the max. She told me a while ago that she was going to come up for the event to support Nick. That was great enough, but then to find out she would be showing up in a Plum Crazy Super Bee that is meticulously restored and features a 440 six-pack, I couldn't wait to see it.

And how about that news this morning that UBL was taken out by our forces, face to face. That he could hear the pop, pop, pop when his security forces were neutralized before his room was forcefully entered and Navy Seals gave him a brief opportunity to surrender. I'm so glad they did it this way instead of dropping a huge bomb that would have taken him out in his sleep. News reports indicate that the raid occurred around 3:30PM our time yesterday, right when we were in the middle of our raffle to support our favorite serviceman. I'll never forget where we were when UBL was taken out. We were each personally supporting the same cause that those brave Navy Seals were fighting for. We were routing for the greatest team on Earth, the US Military.

All in all, I don't know how we can ever top this glorious day. Being honored with Nick's presence, the weather, the people, the cars and Osama Bin Laden finally getting what we have owed him for so long. Priceless.

I have some pics Rob, but they aren't that great. On another note, I did win a couple items in the raffle and spent the day yesterday putting a clay bar to the Jeep! Thanks for bringing a much needed raffle prize Brian (Quickone)! The Jeep looks amazing now! Good to see you guys and glad you all made the trip! Hopefully, we will have another get together soon...I'll probably have to make another trek to your neck of the woods sometime this summer!

You need Quick Tips though. Get rid of those Jetski nozzles you have on there now! LOL...
