: This Morning's 155 Mph Commute
BahnBlastR 06-30-2006, 02:41 AM Yes, it is a beautiful day here in the Eifel region! Sunshine and 56 degrees this morning. I pulled the beast out of the garage and cranked up Tool to get the juices flowing. Then proceeded to take the on-ramp at 100+ MPH and never hit the right lane the entire way to work -- it was beautiful. The beginning of the commute is a fast downhill sweeper that is fairly comfortable at 125 MPH. After that its 150+ uphill to a long straight with no traffic. I was wide open and rockin'!! The grin factor of this rig is something that is hard to appreciate unless you drive one! I am still trying to get a "co-pilot" to take some 160+MPH digital footage that we can post here. Stay tuned. Till then, be safe and don't forget what the manual says "WOT is good for break-in"!! :D
Life's good! Drive fast.
radduc 06-30-2006, 07:03 AM I hit 165 last weekend when I crossed the Canadian Border going to the F1 race.RPM's were @ 5,600 and truck was SOLID:D :D
Red SRT-8 06-30-2006, 07:04 AM Sure, go ahead and rub it in. We're all jealous of your high speed playground. ;) :)

Not trying to rub it in Bro! (Well, maybe a little ;) ) I just can't seem to stop being amazed at how much fun this ***** is to drive fast! Mashing the gas from around 60-70 and blasting by slow-moving traffic doing 150 is like being in my own Star Trek scene!! This thing is a warp drive machine! Love it. I honestly don't know if I would be able to drive this Stateside..... cruising at 100+ is effortless. Scary! The morning commute is like a second cup of coffee. :)
Red SRT-8 07-01-2006, 06:23 AM Well, keep up the reports because we're driving vicariously through you. And, drive carefully!

BahnBlastR 07-06-2007, 11:07 PM Well, Friday night in sunny and freakin' HOT Northern California - 106 degrees today. I was thinking back on my sweet commute a year ago and the crap I drive in today. I really miss Germany......:( Don't misunderstand, I love my country, but my daily commute over there was really special. I was able to drive any of the cars 100+ daily (weather permitting) and I don't even remember the last time I busted 100 here. BORING!!! Now I am stuck with dip ****s that don't even understand driving much less driving fast. I thought turn signals were only a factory option in Oklahoma, but Cali is another "challenged" state....
The Jeep has been in the garage for over three weeks now. Its not even fun to take out for a drive here. There are no cool places to "play" and no one even gives the Jeep any cred. Guess I'll put a fart can on the Honda and join the masses........ Or not. Very few SRT8's here, just lifted pick-up trucks with goobers behind the wheel and ratted-out old Honda Civics with wanna-bees driving. OK, rant and reminiscing over.... No offense to Okalhomans, sleeze-bags, or Honda drivers intended... At least the fishing's good here.
saywhat 07-07-2007, 12:15 AM Boy I would love to do that in the OC, But the truth is highway patrol are everywhere!!! I will live threw you!!!! We get tickets for doing 3 miles over the speed limit ! I know because I got one!
quick1 07-08-2007, 11:39 AM You guys are right, we have amazing vehicles! I got mine up to 145 down here in the Virgin Islands! Just stay safe and be careful!!:D

Just finished a week trip in Germany with a Volvo V70 2.4L diesel (I was suppose to get a BMW 5 series for my rental, but "not available" on arrival). I got 125 mph easily, but not much more. Its a whole different world over there on the autobahn. I'm with BahnBlasteR, when can individuals within the USA decide if driving faster is too costly, instead of big brother telling you what's best for you (can you say insurance lobby and the politically correct?).

St. Croix -- 82 square miles -- there is a little bit of road. lol :D
There is no way you can get up like that on the other islands, St. Thomas or St. John
bassmechanik 07-12-2007, 09:45 AM Sounds like fun. :) Do they not have speed limiters? ..or do you guys just have them removed?
