Well....here ya go guys! After 10 months of very hard work, searching the internet daily and kissing up to any person who had parts....my trucks transformation is finally(mostly) complete. From my last update I have added the brand new SRT8 wheels and Goodyear runflats(thanks to Phil, 06blacksrt8 on cherokeesrt8), SRT8 roof delete rack, Mopar Nav and custom painted bezel surround, complete SRT8 seat set, SRT8 knob and painted instrument bezel rings! I do plan to do the medium tinted taillamps, rear fogs and high stop lamp(from 402motoring), the cardata.com spoiler and Eibach kit. I would like to thank all you guys for the great info and the OWNERS for giving us a great place to chat and learn all we can about these trucks! Take it easy on me guys!

You have certainly done a super job of creating the SRT-8 look, congrats.

As I'm sure you know, the driving element of the SRT-8 package is what really sets it apart.

Not meaning to be critical, but for all the time and $$ you must have spent, I believe that the wheel/tire package alone was $2.5K, why not just get the real thing? You probably would have spent about the same for the real deal. That being said, if you are happy with it, that is all that matters.

As long as you don't claim it to be an SRT-8, it's cool in my book.

Phil hooked me up on the wheels and tires....they are brand new with everything but the center caps for $1900....yes $1900. And they are flawless.
The handling is very good....not as good as you guys...but I do have your front/rear sways and I have Eibachs coming.
The 4.7 is almost 300 hp(I think) and has plenty for what i need it for. Some of you guys may not know...but i am building a 600 HP 3000GT VR4 and I have a stock 99 setting here right now.

Looks awesome.

I'm chomping at the bit to get an '08 SRT, but truthfully for my purposes I'd probably be better off buying a "Design SRT" Jeep if such a thing existed. (Please hold while I put my flame suit on).

I've got a 450hp Marauder... so yes I enjoy acceleration but I've already got it in my garage. I'm attracted my the SRT's style & handling... both of which you've done a great job capturing. Oh, and the AWD and the space... our kids are ages 3 & 1.

Granted, the real SRT-8 is the hot set-up... but remember not every Super Sport Chevy was a 396 or 427, and the old SS's are still remembered fondly.

Enjoy your ride!

Hey Scot, I have just a quick question for you. Did you replaced the front and rear seats yourself? Was that difficult? What tools do I need? I'll appreciate your experience input. Thanks

scottina06
09-09-2007, 11:28 AM
my truck didnt have heated seats.....it took maybe 3 hours and I took my time so not to scratch anything. I taped up the door panels and paint with painters tape to keep from scratching. The steering wheel is easy...but you are forgetting the laredo/limited/overland airbag is different than the srt8...so you will need the srt or black Commander airbag. The airbag is just held on by two screws and the wheel with one large screw if I remember correctly. I used a steering wheel puller to get the wheel off easily. make sure you take the negative terminal off the battery before any of this.

My costs on everything up until today is about $8k. But now some of that stuff is not needed...like the VES, Nav, headlight covers, spoiler etc. to look like the SRT. I would say to get the srt look I have spent probably $600 for the front bumper(yes I got a good deal on one already painted plus the other parts), the rear was about $1100 for it, paint and all new parts, the SRT sides about $300, I got a new set of wheels and tires for $1900, new seats for $1000, I bought the stock SRT exhaust for $160 and had it modded at an exhaust shop for $80, the steering wheel cost me $100 from a wreck and the airbag was $300, I also have the front/rear SRT sways-$260. There are a lot of misc. parts that I bought just because I wanted them....srt door panels, nav, ves etc. that is not needed...so looking at the parts above I have spent-$5800 on the SRT conversion. I have a complete parts list i will post for the front and rear bumpers and rocker panels.

scottina06
09-25-2007, 08:28 AM
This updated list is a complete external appearance package list. You are looking at about $5,000.00 in parts and labor painted, installed and so forth, that price will vary from shop to shop. Iam going off average paint costs, install labor costs, and wholesale part costs, just to give people a ball park figure of what it will take to transform the body of your WK to look like an SRT-8 this does not include the wheels however. I have spent almost $8k in my transformation...but that includes the exterior, interior, suspension and wheels/tires. Shop around for the best deals. There is a company on eBay called uniquecustoms that sells the bumpers painted to match for $795 for the rear and $850 for the front. Try car-parts.com too. ************.com has all these parts.
