What heads do you guys think are the best out there right now? I have heard a lot of different stories and wanna get the straight scoop. Any facts, rumors, opinions or praises?

I like (and bought) directly from Sam @ Indy.
They have been around forever & did well in the Mopar engine builder challenge. They know Mopars!

Yeah I have looked at Indys stuff. Looks real nice. I wonder if it would be safe to assume all the top brands like Indy, PPP, HHP, DR etc would perform within 10hp or so of each other? How much spread is there?

Chris,
I'll bet you are correct.
There would not be a spread of more than 10 hp per manufacturer.

I'd go with PPP/Indy. Just my biased opinion. :D

It's good to see that everyone is pleased with the different options we have so far for heads. As with others, my opinion or input is probably biased only because I haven't rode in anyother jeeps than the 2 that have HHP stage II kits. HHP teamed up with Tony Bischoff who won the '06 Jegs engine build off to custom design packages for the 6.1. As it's looking, so far the weather forecast is promising for some updated runs this Sunday; good or bad times I'll post them. You should check out the site and see what you think. The other benefit I had being that I live close enough to go to their shop is that they have chrysler mechanics that do the work. Great group of guys. Hope it helps.

Tony Bischoff built Brandon Alsept's NMRA Pure Street 4.6/4v. It grenaded quite nicely at the last race--to the point that it's all scrap. Maybe he's better with pushrods?

I don't think thats the case. Personally I think there are definately port designs that are working better than others. There are also some 5000 pound hemi trucks running in the 12's NA with 5.7 head/cam engines.

You could be on to something....hard to tell exactly unless someone does a motor swap at the track.
I'm not sure a dyno would pin down the differences.

Yeah that is true. Peak numbers arent the most important thing by far. Its all about delivery over the whole rev range. Its really hard to know without all the heads being run back to back on the same motor.

Dyno runs on these vehicles can be real misleading with some of the torque managment issues that show on the dyno but not at the track and the vehicle not being loaded the same on the dyno as the street creates a condition with a completely different tune than shown on the street. I think we have all seen vehicles with big dyno numbers that don't run like they should at the track and then ones with dyno numbers that look about like everyone elses and they go a half a second faster.

I don't want to get too specific on heads because I'm not a paid vendor on this forum and it's not fair to the vendors that pay on this forum to pump product. I don't like it on the forums I pay on. But to make a short broad baised point I've been seeing heads done with similar flow numbers and one head may make a max of 5 HP gain over stock and the other head may make 40 with big gains over the entire curve. I know for certain that there is a big difference in the heads that are out there, although, the flow numbers don't necessairly show it. Flow numbers are really a secondary tuning tool and not a direct indication of power potiental. There are allot of atrifically elivated numbers out there too.
