I am referring to my Supercharger,Co2 system, stage II computer, upgraded Transmission Module, Equal Length Headers, High Flow Cats, 3" straight back exhaust system, battery relocated to back, taller tires (for sidewall wrinkle), 17% underdrive crank pulley/balancer, custom tuned secondary injection system & a lot more..... I can't remember it all......I just went to town on this one.

Questions:

I wonder who made the UD pulley? More importantly why he chose to run one with a supercharger?

The part about him spinning all four tires through the 1/8th mile is hard to believe, the fact that he only trapped 98 mph after doing so, makes it even more unlikely. The more you spin, the higher your MPH is going to be.

Why the hell is he doing a burnout on street radials (non DRs)? Pointless. Sidewall wrinkle? Non existant.

Evidently we can't link to the OC from here. I'll just C&P the thread. Hold on.

So-
I'm at the track for the first time in several years.
I staged my 06 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8, switched unto 2wd in the burn out box and laid some beautiful tracks followed by a cloud of rubber ( I was so PROUD, it brought tears to my eyes)Switched back into AWD and made my first pass (this is the first time running it since, completing the installation of all of the upgrades).
I am told, that I spun all 4 wheels through the 1/8 mile marker (the right rear being the most noticable but all four were definately spinning), and posted a 13.1 pass at 98MPH. Now, I usually would be embarrassed about those #'s, but since it was my first time at the track in a long time - I didn't care, and I knew, it was not hooking up but, then it was pointed out to me that the Jeep didn't gain ANY (none, nothing) traction UNTIL after the 1/8 Mile AND STILL GOT TO 98MPH!!! If you follow that train of thought- where, would it have ended up at the 1/4 mile- IF IT HAD hooked on the launch? I am confident, I can get into the 10's, as it is set up now... If I can get my problem solved!!!
SO- Here is the need for Help.
I staged for my second pass, warmed up the tires (in 2wd -thanks to GS) and did one hell of a burn out - again!! Everything appeared to be great.
Switched back int AWD, staged the lights. Waited for the tree to drop. I floored it, when the light hit and instantly began to hear the most GOD awful sound - growling, banging and grinding.
Upon inspection, it appears my spyder gears and pinion gear blew apart from the force of the launch. Having considered the cost of drag racing, I thought to myself- "OK, time for a new third member", It could have been a lot worse - Or Not since....... Our Jeeps Have this "Frankenmonster" referred to as a "super" Dana 44 (part Dana 44 and part Dana 60). I am being told (by the tech guy at Randy's Ring & Pinion) that no one offers any parts to support this application? - even using the stock ratio's - Ring & Pinion.
I realize that this is kind of an obscure vehicle (not many out there) to mass produce aftermarket parts for but, I never expected to find a Rear Axle Assembly, not used in any other application- anywhere! So, I really need some advise on any options available, as I know the stock set up CAN NOT support my "new found" power and torque...
Is my only option to adapt a Dana 60 or something like that- to completely replace the stock axle assembly (hub to Hub)- or is there someone, who is familiar with this "super" Dana 44 Axle and offers an optional set up?
Please advise - as I am grounded, until I come up with a solution..
I need to put a Locking rear Third member (would use anything needed as part of the conversion but, intend to keep the stock ratio's, as they are good for me (all around use).
Thanks for anything you can offer....

Just noticed the part about the secondary injection system. Does that mean this is a GSM kit?

I'm pretty sure it's the GSM kit. He had posted here a while back-felt he was insulted and never posted again! Hmm!

Stroker...very funny.
My trans gasket went out a few weeks ago while I was on vacation. My brother emailed me and said it looked like the new converter or tranny blew there was so much tranny fluid on the ground. LOL

Bill, Thanks for the vote of confidance on the rear. Actually mine is making noise and needs to go in. I will try to get the replacement that GRNENVY got. What if I wanted that first one? Wait, I got the first ASM, someone else's turn.

I am sure his larger radials did not help with the problem.

Mango, Good job you made him run and hide, your so mean;)

I don't see what the big surprise is...I mean, look at the power he was pushing. I'd be shocked if it didn't blow. Now, if STOCK rears were grenading on stock trucks...then I'd see the point in making threads about this.

Mango ol' Boy....
A LOT of us are performance oriented & appearance oriented.
That is why the thread was started.
We don't know for sure that the STOCK rear diff. in a slightly modified JGC with drag radials will hold up do we????
Just one member trying to help another with this thread.

Update:
Hope to have Ira (the guy with the blown rear) his new 9" Ford COMPLETE rear diff later next week. It should have:
3.70 ratio with positraction.
Strange 35 spline axles, 5X5 lug pattern (same as stock)
SRT8 brakes, complete with lines, parking cable, minus rotors.
All of our original brackets welded on the new assembly.
Complete ABS, reluctor wheel and sensors. This thing should solve all the issues with diffs.
His price should be about $ 3,000, I was charged about $ 3,500 due to putting the permanent jig on my dime. There will be a core charge until your assembly is sent in. Shipping extra.

I believe a little less costly posi. version will be manufactured by removing the stock tubes from a core and installing them into a Ford 9" housing. I did not go the less expensive route because I am concerned about the axle hubs on the stocker.

These should be so easy to install Mango could do it...Just kidding Mango.
Really though:
Remove tires, calipers and rotors. Leave the parking brake stuff alone here.
Disconnect the MAIN parking brake cable.
Disconnect the MAIN brake line.
Remove the sway bar things you have recently installed.
Remove the track bar.
Remove the 4 control bars.
Oh..better remove the driveshaft. ( I am having them manufacture a steel version for me, maybe carbon later)
I believe that is about it.Probably missed a few things, but hopefully you can see it will NOT be an all day swap.

Whew, I could have swapped it out in the time it takes me to type this!

Soon, the diff is something we can cross off the list of things to do.
