This is very important for everyone to see and read that has recently purchased PAC racing 1518 valve springs not only from me but from anyone in the last 2 months.
We are aware of a mfr defect that has affected 4 sets of heads in the last 2 weeks. We are advising anyone who has purchased these springs from others to discuss with them whether or not you should swap them over.
These look like the same spring but believe it or not these are two seperate failuers.

Good job for the heads up bro. Is that what happend to Scott's ride? The thread title kinda scared me for a second. I run the PAc 1535's I think, but mine are about 2 years old.:D
Yep, that's scotts spring in the first picture. The second picture was a head we did.

Aww man. That sucks. Couldn't have happend to a nicer guy too. I'm sure he'll be up and running strong though for April. He looked miserable Sat. night and I don't blame him one bit. I'd be completely bummed as well. I'm shocked my heads are still together. I re-used my stock retainers on my PAC 1535's. I should have gone Ti but, I was cheap back then.:D It was a budget build. Haha.

Andy, can you verify what springs I have as well? In light of this news, let's just say that I'm just a little concerned.... especially with the bigger cam going in. Thx

Your fine.

The 1518 is the nitrided one. Any PAC spring that begins with 15XX is their top of the line nitrided one.

Guys, in the first post it stated that the only affected sets were sold this year. It also stated that all the affected customers of mine have already been contacted. The affected springs are failing in less than 200 miles. I think both of you bought last year and you both have more than 200 miles and you both have 1218 springs with no known issues. Your in good shape, sleep well. :D
Just for info purposes.
Set 1: Broke in 15 miles at a gas station on startup
Set 2: Broke in 50 feet at idle when the AC came on
Set 3: Broke in 200 miles on decel after a 1/4 mile pass
Set 4: Broke on initial startup

Thanks for the peace of mind, Andy. By now, you should know how neurotic I can get.

I knew I was going to get allot of "what about mine". I actually got an email last night from a guy who bought from me in 2009. :)
