So here's the latest I have to look forward to!

There is this older lady 58 in my office. Since I got there 3 years ago, she has been ragging all over me about my SRT8 and how much of a Jalopy it is compared to her BMW. At the time, she had a new 328 and I egged her on to a race and she never wanted to do it. Just kept making excuses.

Fast forward to now. I heard from a mutual friend that she has since upgraded to a new M3 and has been trash taking me again asking him to set something up. She's even gone as far now as saying she is willing to race for pink slips (which I know is just trash talk). So I am agreeing to do this.....

Obviously, she doesn't now that I have since modded my jeep. It's now a 393, Vortech @ 9 psi, cam, headers, exhaust. I'm going to by going to a Mustang Dyno on Feb 1st to fine tune my new 80 lb injectors and will post my final numbers.

This is going to be fun! Just want to know besides the obvious TC off, put in D and mash the gas, what is the optimum tire pressure for best grip?

We wont be doing a 1/4 mile run so I should take this easily. Anyone want to venture a guess how many car lengths I should get on this car?

With your mods, she will think she's going in reverse.

Hahahahah I was thinking how to do this to keep very low key until the race! Then SHOCK and AWE her!!

Planning on doing the race with my left hand out the window waving bye bye from the get go!!

Then if all goes as planned... go to her after and say "hmmmmm M3 eh? Wonder if BMW was meaning to say (M)issing 3 cylinders" LOL

Your mpg is reading wrong because the injectors are not scaled properly.

Even if her M3 is slightly modded, i just dont see it even being a a race with your vortech at 9psi... even if you give her 5 lengths... you'll make that up by the time you hit 60! Make sure and video from inside and outside ya jeep! have someone ride along!

You should get her pretty good but don't get too ****y. The DCT tranny they have in the new M3 has a great launch control (if she knows how to turn it on). If you slip up at all she will be gone. Remember that BMW horsepower ratings are at the wheel not the crank like most other manufacturers. The car is fast if driven properly.

What does an M3 do 0-60 and in the 1/4? I would assume you'd get her even stock. With a blower at 9psi you will blast her out of existence.

I suggest though, don't give her the car lengths, she will stop racing if you do that and then there will be an excuse. This is a 58 years old lady not a 19 year old idiot male you are talking about here. In fact its almost impossible to believe she will actually go through with this, but here's hoping she does!

This is a GREAT point. Im counting on the fact that our rigs are EASY to launch. There really is not much for us to do but mash the gas and hold on!

I've driven an e92 m3 when i returned my 335i and from a dead stop you'll spank it no doubt. However, on a roll with dct that car hauls ass. The m3 is built for top end hp which holds strong through redline. Either way though, IMO, you'll win. Now of we were talking about a modified 335 which makes crazy torque numbers with no lag from the twin turbos, I would be iffy about it.

You could beat her stock I've ran 2 new M3 at the track only see them run mid to low 13's

silverbullet
01-27-2011, 10:58 AM
Well, good to know all the facts. It will no doubt be from a dead stop. That gives me the edge. She is not going to want to go ballz out to redline and race top end speeds; she is 58 remember?!!

It's all in good fun.. I just want to 'teach' her a lesson lol

^^^ You'll win for sure, i was gonna get an e9x m3 instead of a srt8, but happily decided to get the jeep. I believe that m3 does 0-60 in 4.1, with your mods and not even going a quarter mile, you'll smoke it.... But those cars do haul azz at high rpm.....

Gotta get a video of it though...... :D

As long as the race is from a stock or low mph roll there will be absolutely no competition. I am suprised that so many people are showing doubt about this race considering silverbullets mods.... I have raced several stock m3's with just CAI/Tune/exhaust and I beat them in the 1/4 every single time...even if they got a jump on me off the line. With a 393 and vortec there is absolutely nothing to worry about here. Unless your starting from a 60-80 (maybe 50's it might get ya too) mph roll you should have no trouble.

You should have no problem beating her pretty badly. I've raced one E92 M3 on the street and even with 4 people in my car, he couldn't keep up from a dig. Obviously the guy couldn't really drive the car, but then this 58 year old woman probably can't either.

Just picked up an SRT8 today. Stock out of the hole it's faster than my '06 M5 till bout 50mph, after that it's no contest. I like this Jeep but after that hole shot it turns into a brick. It's heavy and has a lot of moving parts at speed...the bmw's are just getting started. My 5 revs to 8250rpm!

With mods and a short "track" I'll put my money on you. :)

Agree, but remember silverbullet is probably pushing 200 hp more than your Jeep. I'll bet his has a much higher brick speed than 50mph! 8250 rpm would be damn nice though!!

Well GUYS, after Tues Feb 1st, I should be able to scan and post a dyno chart from a Mustang Dyno. That should put everything into context! I am going to tune it for 91 octane as this would be the fuel I use for daily driving. IF I for some reason need the added protection from knock for whatever reason, I can simply load 93+ and be good to go. I want the extra points as back-up :)

The last time the beast was at the dyno, I was told I got to 395 whp at around 4800 rpm. Had to shut it down since my injectors were maxed out. This time, I now have the larger 80lb injectors and can tune to redline! Johan will unleash the magic and I should easily clear 450 whp.... going to go for 500!!!

I can't imagine another couple hundred hp in this truck. I've had a Syclone, Stealth Twin Turbo, and my dad has the TBSS, and even with some light mods on all those the SRT8 stock still seems faster. I'm not slamming it by any means, just trying to be a realist.

BTW what's the stock whp numbers on these?

Yeah that little M3 will never have you in the race you want to run. I would even be courteous enough to show her how to use the launch control and what to do for the best launch. That way there will be no excuses, just results. That's just me. Do us proud man. This will be no contest. What's this about dynoing under 500hp? I would think you are a close if not over 600hp on a dyno.

I wouldn't assume someone in their fifties doesn't know how to race. I have been racing since I was a kid and I am now in my fifties. I have had more than a few "kids" think I drove a Cobra or Vette because I was old and having a mid-life crisis. While both of those likely would have won stock neither was and the look on their faces at the next light was priceless.

I also know a number of women in their fifties that also have been car people and racing since they were kids. This woman may not be one of them but don't take anything for granted.

Good Luck!

Mental note, lower tire pressure!! 33 psi I think is the preferred level right? less than 1/4 tank of gas. Remove 2 kid seats!

Yo nope. Theyre rated at the crank.

HoustonHemi
01-29-2011, 11:38 AM
If you are racing to a high speed, I'd recommend higher tire pressure, if it's just 0-60 type race, then lower is better. I'd leave the kids seats in. They weigh what probably 25 pounds total? Won't make any difference in this race and you can rub it in that you have baby seats in the car. I beat a new 5.0 mustang at the track and it was hilarious to realize I had the baby's stroller in the back!

Just don't agree to a roll-on race from 80 mph or anything similar. I don't own a GCSRT8 yet and therefore know less about it than all of you...but I imagine that the weight and aerodynamics start to hurt things when you blow into the triple digits. From a dig or a slow roll-on, your SRT8 will have the M3 crying for mercy.

Damn, all this talk about racing makes me want to find an M3 to go race against with my ISF.

These M motors really shine on top end. Nice having your peak tq at 80mph in 3rd gear. :)

Sorry but no one and I mean no one rates there cars at WHP everyone rates them at the crank. I imagine the new M3 is around mid 300 whp range at best in stock form. BMW's are strong performers because IMO BMW does a great job matching their gear ratios to the hp/tq curves in their vehicles.

Race her from a dig and murder her!! I dont see anyway she beats you unless you use autostick and start in high gear.
