...I have asked the dealer, Jeep reps at the Detroit Auto Show, no one seems to know....

...are these assembled in Toledo and shipped to Detroit for the final SRT8 treatment, are they partially assembled, shipped incomplete....are they shipped as completely built units and then the unneeded parts returned to Jeep.....do they have matching engine numbers???

....who/what company does the final build on these...

I have owned old Dodge Daytonas and Superbirds, I am familiar with the procedures then and was just curious how this was done now...

I don't have the answers, but I think ResumeSpeed might and I have sent him a link to your thread :)

All Grand Cherokees and Commanders are built in Detroit at the Jefferson North Assembly Plant. All "SRT" work is done as it goes down the line. It is no different than building a 3.7L V6 Laredo. DaimlerChrysler does these from start to finish.

The only vehicles DCX sends out are the Daytona Chargers/Rams, and other vehicles they put Mopar accessories and decals on before they arrive at the dealer... and Vipers that are ordered with stripes are sent out to have these painted on.

TommyLee is correct, all are assembled at the Jefferson North Plant. They come down the line mixed right in with the Laredo, Limited and Overland models and are being built on a daily basis.
