First off, this may be a long one. I work at a repair shop and we do work with a company that buys cars from dealerships and fixes possible problems, then sells them to used car dealerships. Kind of a middle man thing. Anyways, they bring in all kinds, some great some not so much. For example, they brought us a 2005 dodge durango limited. It needed a motor (5.7). Kinda hard to find at the time. The only ones we could find were expensive. So the company sold us the car basically to get rid of it. I bought it, found a motor with 20000 miles on it. The problem was it had a broken head from a accident, i swapped my head and got a great deal. So this company brings us a 2007 jeep SRT8. Its been in a minor crash, mostly just body panels like fenders and front bumper. The company really isnt that interested in the truck, just wants to see if we can do anything with it. Well when i see it, i start to freak out. My first thought is, i have to have it. i have a friend that has one and i know what these trucks are all about!! So it came in at the end of the week. all weekend i looked up body parts and other things it may need. I figured as long as it ran it was a done deal. Monday i went out to check the truck over. this is where it turns sad. Apparently, the truck sat 6 months or more. The hood was left open, as well as the drivers window and sun roof!!!!! I couldnt belive someone would just let this amazing truck sit like that. Refusing to give up, i wanted to try to start it. i looked inside and apprently someone removed the inside fusebox, which i think its the bcm and tried to use it in another truck. well i can only assume it didnt work and they left laying on the front seat. yes, on the seat where the window and sunroof where open for months, so pretty much no good. Its been a crazy situation, it could probaly be fixed but would take someone with time. My question is, does anyone know what it might be worth or would it be better to sell part by part. Either way, it will be sold but usally they go to a salvage yard. I figured you guys would know better then anyone else. sorry for the long post.

Have any idea on miles? If it has that many problems, including lots of damaged fenders, I'd say somewhere in the mid-teens...

Not sure on the miles. Im sure the company knows. I tried hooking up the fuse box to get power, but i didnt get anything. My guess is it needs one of those for sure. It needs front fenders, front bumper, grill, one headlight, ac condenser, radiator, fan shroud and rear bumper. i found everthing on ebay and we use a company that supplies aftermarket lights and bumpers. Also would need a real clean up. The problem wouldnt be what was caused by the accident but what was messed up by leaving the hood and windows open for months. It honestly breaks my heart to see it. I just cant understand why someone just didnt cover the windows.

Well i wish there could be a happy ending to this story but looks like its not going to happen. I went out to dig a little deeper into this truck and see what could be done. I mean i would do whatever i could to get this thing on the road. Well after looking a little closer i found mud or sand in the storage bin in the back. Also in the glove box, i pulled the trim around the radio and found mud sitting on the a/c box. I think it is safe to say this truck was flooded. The windows and sunroof being open for all that time was just the iceing on the cake. I looks like water was all the way up to the top of the dash. i think it took a nose first dive into some water. Im sure the motor could be rebuilt but the electronics are toast. Kinda sucks, someone got duked in this deal. Whats funny is the truck is clean, i mean the outside is clean, no waterlines. No real waterlines inside either. Wasnt untill i pulled to stuff apart and seen signs of water. Makes you think twice about where that used car came from, kinda like those commercials about checking the fax on your car first.

That sucks, post some pictures of the truck. Just curious of what it looks like.

i will try to get a few pictures on my phone tomorrow. I was thinking the wheels and tires are ok, inside panels because they are plactic. If someone really really wanted the seats they might be able to be cleaned. As far as the drivetrain, im not sure. The engine didnt have any oil in it which means someone pulled the plug to see how much water got in it. The trans. seemed ok, as far as fluid goes. Sad, more then likely looking like a salvage yard vehile.
