: oh noes! There's an SS in my driveway! *gasp*
Mango 06-17-2007, 04:58 PM I don't think I've ever shown you guys, this is my 1997 Camaro SS 30th Anniversary Edition. 44k original miles, I'm the second owner. I bought it in 2002 from a friend of the family. I love this car, and it's really just a "neat" ride.
I have all the documentation for it, including a rare "SS" car cover that came straight from GM for it! The lady bought it with all SLP options, it's the 837th car out of 1,000 built, and there are only 246 cars in the entire world with it's option package from this run of cars.

Mango 06-17-2007, 05:00 PM I had considered selling it a few times, I paid $20k for it at the time and could sell it for about 25 to 27 right now. I was in talks with a dealer to use it for trade in toward this gorgeous SRT6 Crossfire they had....but they wouldn't give me more than 10k for it! I laughed and walked out. I really enjoy this car and plan to just keep it now, as my own little piece of automotive history. Maybe in another 10 years I'll sell it if it's worth anything.

jlandbl 06-17-2007, 05:14 PM Hot car. Always loved camaros. Looks all stock, is it?
Mango 06-17-2007, 05:45 PM Yup. I'm "preserving" it, going to maintain it all stock as it rolled off the showroom floor. Well, it's all stock except for the SLP Loudmouth exhaust. I took the stock exhaust off and put this on. Has a much better sound. I still have the stock exhaust to put back on though. :)
luvr 6.1 06-17-2007, 05:48 PM One of my favorite cars, I was never able to afford one when I was younger, some cars never go out of style. Looks great!
Mango 06-17-2007, 05:53 PM Thanks! There is a funny story behind this car...it was my first "performance" car that I personally owned.
Back in High School, my Mom and I were leaving the local Fuddruckers after having dinner. This was in 1998. This exact car was sitting there in the parking lot (we didn't know that the owner was there as well). I pointed at it and said "Someday I'll have one of those." and my Mom, in her classic parental role, told me "You can have anything you want, if you work hard enough."
Well, years later I got it. :) She was right.
EX-SVTMAN 06-17-2007, 06:07 PM Mango do that thing a favor and change the airfilter :D
I had an IROC-Z back in the day and I loved the lines on that car...
Sweet ass ride Mango, lookin tight.
Mango 06-17-2007, 06:12 PM I put a new filter in it today! Just...after that picture.
I'm trying to find the K&N model that fits, but it's not in any of the local stores.
Blown-WK 06-19-2007, 07:36 AM You have entirely too many cars...lol. I am guessing you are single which is why you can afford these luxuries?
kramsay1234 06-19-2007, 08:26 AM All the SLP cars will hold their value nicely so you can't go wrong either way holding on to it. Plus its nice to have something truly rare.
Mango 06-19-2007, 09:43 AM I've accumulated them over time. Had many jobs. I'm 27 and on my third career (I'm stickin' with this one!) =)
I'm not single, but not married yet.

BTW...I ordered the B&G!!! THANKS TO YOU!! !! :p :p
When are you hittin the track again?
NINOSRT8 06-23-2007, 07:15 PM JT,
I was just at my sisters in Hacketstown. She is close enough to Island Raceway to faintly hear the cars running. I think I will take her down there as soon as I get a free weekend morning that has clear skys and is somewhat cool. 12.999 or bust! :p
NINOSRT8 06-23-2007, 07:16 PM Oh yeah, you will love the B & G!! ;)
GotStroke? 06-25-2007, 11:55 PM LT4 or LT1?
NINOSRT8 07-02-2007, 07:40 PM There were only 100 LT4 SS's in 1997. All were Z4C 30th anniversary models, hard top 6spd. my 94' camaro LT1 was still a strong engine as i'm sure you know. I had both LT1 and LS1 camaro's. Both are missed, along with all the other cars I modded, loved, and sold... :(
