Ok i have decided to do the headers on the jeep with a little mechanic help. I will also be putting on a cold air intake at the time. I just have one question for locals where in the heck do you get a tune for a good price?
Also does about here know what type of Horse Power a set headers will give me at a mile high?
Thanks

I was looking at the Kooks with hi flo cats in the mid pipes. I have these on my GTO and with a 1/2 tank of E85 i passed emissions very easy.
Don't know how much headers would normally give you, but if you get sea level ratings, you can figure about 20% less up here. Altitude sucks!
Haven't seen anyone try E85 to pass emissions, but I know of only one person to ever pass up here with a Jeep and headers... Good luck!

Thats Scary! Whats the big deal about headers and emissions on the jeep?

Don't know if it's as much a Jeep thing as a cat thing. But people all over the country seem to have issues getting their SRT8s to pass with headers though. There are lots of threads here covering the issue. I know Tom from MHP (used to live in Evergreen) got his to pass, but that was with Stainless Works IIRC. When I asked my tech about headers he said the power gain didn't justify the cost. Then there's the emissions thing. So I decided not to bother with them. YMMV

It seems that because the headers relocate the cats as well as replace them, it throws the emisions out of whack.

I was hoping for a better sound out of the exhaust with headers and hi flo cats. I did a cat back and it's way better then stock but i want more.
I saw a Maroon colored jeep heading south on Wadsworth in between Quicy & Belview and thing sounded super nasty. I was in the sams parking lot and could hear it commin for a ways.

Probably Travis (teekay1). He's got a Borla S catback and it's quite loud.

Wink, I thought Tom didn't have to get emissions tested because of living in Evergreen??
well GL and let us know how it goes.

It was either Tom or one of the guys at the meets that told me Tom's Jeep passed. Maybe Roger or Rob can chime in. Either way, I know it's difficult to pass.

Evergreen is still Jefferson county so i am sure they had to do the emissions test just like all of us do.
