About 5 months ago the paint on the front air deflector started to flake off. It was a slow process but it was definitely progressing. So i went to the local jeep dealer. The dealer asked me to take the jeep to the body shop of his choice for an estimate and to make sure the jeep had not been in an accident-repainted befor. The service manage - Jeff - communicated all this with jeep (by email only) and said lets wait to hear back from jeep. 4-5 weeks went by and jeff asked me to return to the dealer. This time they took pics of the jeep including the affected area and the vin number. Another 6 weeks went by then Jeff said that the repairs ( repaint the front air deflector) had been approved and we had to wait for a purchase order from jeep. Close to 3 months went by then jeff called me to tell me that jeep would only approve repairs up to $200. The cheapest estimate was $430. Sure i was pissed but i wanted it fixed so i said that i would pay the diference. Jeep then had the balls to say i could not do that. The $200 could only be used to pay for the repairs in full - i think they wanted someone to patch the problem but the body shops were saying that the deflector was incorrectly painted in the first place and patching was not gonna help.
Now i decided it was time for me to get on the phone. I called chrysler in Detroit and was suprised to find there was a srt division. I left a message as the guy was hard to reach and eventually did most of the communicating by fax. Bottom line a guy named Mike Farrell from the srt division called the jeep
dealer and authorised the repairs in less than 48 hours... Thanks Mike Farrell for taking care of the srt owners.

The pealing/flaking of the '06 front bumper/facia is common knowledge. That dealer was just trying to get out of paying. It did take several pics & time to get the ok from Chrysler when I had mine done. It looks good now. :)

I'm glad someone at Chrysler stepped up. I don't understand why they gave you a hard time w/the issue being common. Oh well, you got it fixed up nice now. Sweet Viper.
