: Shift Hesitation rears it's ugly head
EX-SVTMAN 06-16-2007, 03:07 PM Ok so today I decided to try a 0-60 run in the rain.
Miami has been non stop rain lately so I figured what the hell, it was very early in the am so the temp wasn't that hot (about 77 deg if I remember correctly).
I caught a red light with no traffic in front or back of me....
So I set up the Dashhawk for a 0-60 run, Once the dashhwak was ready I launched by power braking to 1500 rpm.... I spinned the right rear tire I know that much, then just before the shift to 2nd....I thought I hit the brakes or something. My head went forward like if the brakes were tapped for a second, then it shifted! Needless to say it was my worst run ever.....
0-60 in 4.8 sec, what the hell?
Is there a cure for this crap yet...please advise gents.

phenwick 06-16-2007, 03:22 PM Traction control kicking in due to slippage on the wet pavement?
AT'sGCSRT8 06-16-2007, 03:26 PM Mine hasn't done it since the first time that I went the track(knock on wood) a few months back. I thought I had just broke something, scared the crap out of me. I was lookin around like WTF, then it started going again.

B&G Stage 2.....this will eliminate the hesitation.

I hear ya! I am actually looking forward to feeling the results of this flash first hand sometime next week:D
Oh, and don't forget the extra 350 for the spare pcm (if you go that route).

OH... great! A grand for a chip basically. I spent 350 for a custom tuned chip on my old lightning and picked up close to 50hp at the rear wheels.... now I have to spend a grand for a little hp and better shifts....?
My frustration grows, and I've had this thing for a month and a half....I really feel for the guys w the 06's They've been waiting almost 2yrs.

EX-SVTMAN 06-16-2007, 05:59 PM Just thought of something..... it's an 07.
What if I put the truck in "slapstick" mode and let it upshift automatically when it hits the redline? Will I still get the shift hesitation?
srtphilly 06-17-2007, 09:01 AM please dont go that b&g route. you will be very dissapointed. it is the biggest waste of money for the jeep in my opinion. it does very little for the jeep. hardly any horsepower gains and no impressive quarter mile results. wait for the diablo tuner.
Razorecko 06-17-2007, 09:37 AM I love the B&G for my 07....but.... my shift hesitation has come back, i'll probally put in the stock pcm and than the b&g back to find out if the hesitation is something thats learned through the pcm or if its just in there all the time...bummer

I call bull****.
It works great

have you had the shift hesitation rear its head ?? and do you have the AD or AE pcm version ??
timster 06-17-2007, 09:44 AM no shift hesitation, and I have the AE
timster 06-17-2007, 09:53 AM Razor, what shift hesitation are you refering to? The 1/2 shift hesitation at wot, or the lack of down shift from a roll at 20 MPH?
Razorecko 06-17-2007, 09:57 AM I'm talking about the 1-2 shift at wot, its strange for the first few hundred miles it was perfect and than it started showing up frequently, I wonder if it has to do with the pcm version
timster 06-17-2007, 10:00 AM that sucks, man. I wonder why it's happening? - Since the B&G raises the rev limiter, so it shouldn't hesitate

Waiting 2 years for what? I have an '06 and couldn't be happier. No shift hesitation problems whatsoever.
EX-SVTMAN, how many runs are you basing your shift hesitation conclusions on? Hopefully not a single run in the rain...

I must admit you're right....I did base it on 1 run in the rain :o
I meant waiting 2 yrs for a programmer or a custom tuned chip.
I'll give it another try next time it's dry down here...raining every freakin day and causing me shoulder problems :D (..from wiping down the rig w detailer spray after).
Good call.

07blksrt8 06-17-2007, 02:33 PM I think your truck is running good and you probably had traction control kick in due to slippery pavement in the rain.
I also agree with the chorus that B&G tune will fix it.
For what it's worth, my truck came stock with an "AD" PCM, but my "spare" with B&G flash is an "AE", and they both shift perfectly.
Razorecko 06-17-2007, 02:34 PM Than most likely it would be an issue with my TCM
My 07 B&G II shifts awesome. Hopefully it will stay that way. Not sure about the guys saying its not worth the money. We'll just have to do see what the Diablo does when it comes out.
Mango 06-18-2007, 05:52 AM I'm not holding my breath on the Diablo...and the B&G is disappointing for the money. Just have to accept the fact that I can't do a tune on this car....

Maybe you're right- thanks.
Just to make sure, I'll do some 0-60 runs soon and post what happens.
