Just pulled the crappy BAs and installed an Alpine PDX 4.100 amp and Infinity Kappa speakers in front(3-way) & back(2-way). Hi2Lo, Dynamat on all 4 doors as well. This set-up is:

1. <$1k - installed
2. Unseen
3. Fits stock locations(no cutting)
4. Sounds awesome
5. Looks cool(incognito exc for the blue "glow" under the driver's seat!)

Anyone can spend 5K to pimp their ride, but I didn't want that. I'm assuming this might be valuable to some of you less interested in rattling your hood bolts loose.

The dash 3.5s were disconnected, but may be added later(we tried both). I like a tight, sharp bass as I mostly listen to ROCK(think Tool, AiC & RATM), not rap & R&B(OK, I have Tupac, NWA, etc.). The Infinity speakers sound incredible, with deep bass, and I am not sacrificing the space in back.

The bass is as good as the stockers? I had kappas in my 5.9 and they were severely lacking on the low end but this was ~4 years ago.

Yes, much better bass compared to stock BA. They may have made improvements since your last go around as the guys who installed it said they were pleasantly surprised by the amount of bass w/out a sub box in back. And much cleaner and louder! I've only heard great things about both the PDX amp and the Kappa series Infinity speakers. The tweeters are tilted slightly on the Kappa, so you just need to make sure the guys installing(unless it's you) choose the correct L and R speaker locations so the sound is tilted up into the c0ckpit(insert Butthead laugh here).

07, I miss Layne Staley too. AiC is coming out w/Velvet Revolver this summer. I can only bet Weiland will be sitting in on a few songs. Can't replace Layne, but it'll be interesting to see someone try . . .

So does the Dynamat in the doors keep the doors from rattling with bass ? I get a rattling door noise with bass in music with the stock speakers so does it stop that.

   ;) Dynamat seals the doors, and there's no rattle. If there's one upgrade to make while the door panels are off, Dynamat is it. Of course, it adds a lil weight, but puhleeeeeez, the daily sound upgrade is "music to my ears".;)
