Hi All,

Great forum. I have a question, i just bought a 2010 JC SRT8 and it has done around 250kms now. There's this strange noise (mini clunk) coming from the rear and it only happens when taking off or sometimes when turning to the right (again, when taking off). Could there be something loose somewhere at the rear section? or is this normal? above all, its a great car.

Happy New Year to you all out there..:)

If you are experiencing a rear clunking noise, you need to address this concern with the Jeep dealership and have them look into the following three possible issues:

1) Faulty Transfer Case and

2) Pinion Gear and Axel - there may be too much slop or movement and requires to be tighten

3) Investigate the Spyder Pin and Spyder Gears

My Jeep SRT8 2009 Jeep had a consistent clunking noise when I downshifted from 3 gear to 2 gear to 1st gear.

I hope this helps.

I had this famous clunk and thought my rear end was bad. Next I took it to the dealer and they replaced the Valvebody inside the tranny and now my Jeep is cluck free on down shifts.
