I'm going to see it in person on Monday and hopefully take it home if all looks well. What are some of the things I should look out for? I have heard of a differential noise tsb but not much else. Thanks in advance.
BOYCHIKS 12-18-2010, 03:21 PM I would check the tires. Make sure it has been stock. Take it for a drive and see if there is any noises that sound like grinding or anything from the transfer case. Also, see if there is any steering wheel shake around 70mph.
Looks clean though!!
Actually I do remember now something about a shake at 70. Looks all stock from what I can see. I am a shop owner and professional mechanic so I'll be able to tell if anything was apart. Sales rep said tires were new. I was told a preacher owned it an traded it in for a different jeep. Looks like it has all the options: Nav, dvd, xenons, heated rear seats, etc.

You're good on this one. I bet he never went over the speed limit. LOL. But seriously, it looks clean in the pics. It looks like no one sat in the passenger seat - no wrinkles in the leather. It looks all stock on the outside. Good luck. Let us know how it turns out.

780XO 12-18-2010, 06:55 PM Congrats, I hope it turns out as nice as the pictures. One thing to make SURE YOU GET. They should have two cordless headphones and the remote control for the rear DVD unit. Also try to have them through in a set of slush mats. The headphones and remote come with the system. The reason I mention it is the remote has a mount in the screen unit and I didn't see it there. Nice holiday gift to yourself.
TonySRT8 12-18-2010, 07:53 PM Looks like a nice clean jeep. You going to get a warranty on it or go ahead and mod it?
jdoc7 12-18-2010, 08:15 PM Looks clean. The only thing I noticed was the idle speed at 1400 rpms which is high. Maybe it was just the first start up on a cold morning. Make sure that settles back to 800 rpms, give or take a tad, when warm. Good luck!
PS: Hard to believe a preacher didn't mount a front plate! I don't see any bolt holes in the front bumper.

You have a good eye. I will make sure the idle settles. It is at a Jeep dealership so I doubt they would leave it if it was wrong. It still has the balance of the factory 3 year/36k mile warranty but they said there is an extended warranty available. I'm not sure what the license plate laws are in Maryland but I don't plan to put one on when I bring it to NJ. Having a badge helps:)

I just Bought my 07 fully loaded with 23000 miles on clock. I have this grinding noise you speak of, especially when I turn off stability track. a member on here said it was normal for SRT8, as run flats also make it alittle rough. stated his did same thing, should I take it in & have it checked?

Yeah, no front plate and if you must have to in some cases (even thou you have a badge) you can always do what I did and put a motorized one that hides it under the bumper, so you flip it up with a remote when you need to. :) I have a youtube video on that in case you are interested.
BTW, we are all preachers here also... We are always preaching about these bad-ass SRT jeeps LOL :D
Where in NJ are you from? I'm in Hudson Co.
Good luck with the Jeep, I hope you end up with it and maybe can join us sometime at the track (Etown, ATCO or Island).

Only ONE of the above statements is true.

Yes, fully loaded except for engine block heater and Kicker system (the latter did not become available until 5 months after this one was built).
...What are some of the things I should look out for?

Nice List. We're lucky to have you on here RS. :D
CanuckGCSRT8 12-19-2010, 12:25 PM Check if the transfer case oil has been changed. Your mileage is approaching the first change interval and most do it much sooner and more frequently.

Yeah what Johnny said and if this thing does have a vibration problem at 70 mph then stay far away from it. I have that issue with mine and its driving me nuts.... Still can't get it fixed and I only have 20k on the odometer...
ResumeSpeed 12-20-2010, 04:57 AM "Only ONE of the above statements is true"
I bet a lot of people got this wrong...
Hardtopvette 12-20-2010, 03:51 PM Nice looking Jeep I see it has the option group 2 or whatever with the HID's and stuff good choice!!!
Dont worry about the idle as people mentioned thats not an issue as any car idles high after a cold start.
One thing is unless you dont care make sure every body panel has its original paint. Repainted panels or any repaint work in general is pretty easy to spot on a black car so check for the clear coat texture consistancy. It should have the texture of an orange peel if its original paint and it should look exactly the same down every panel. Dont forget to see the carfax just to see if it says any accident reports. 1 owners is always optimal as well in most cases.
Good luck and please report back.

Driving her home mow. Merry Christmas and happy birthday to me!

BOYCHIKS 12-21-2010, 01:16 AM +1 !!! Congrats.
I know the drive home must have been exciting! :D
jonson18 12-21-2010, 06:14 AM Congrats. I picked mine up last sat. Been hiding it at parents till xmas. I feel like a little kid waiting for santa. It's killing me to have it 20 miles away and I want drive it. On the flipside she's got no idea. Can't wait to see her face that day. PRICELESS!!!!!
You hiding it from the old lady?
jonson18 12-21-2010, 06:42 AM YES. It's her xmas gift. Been looking for a red rock w low miles since summer happen to find this one last week. Kill two birds with one stone.
A few details so far:
2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT-8
29k miles
Black on dark slate
All options I think (nav, mygig, xenons, dvd, front and rear heated seats)
I saw it on cars.com on Saturday afternoon. Couldn't make it down there in time so as soon as I got off duty on Monday I headed down to Baltimore with my father to go pick it up. Had her home that evening. Unfortunately it was night time so I had to look over it as best I could under the dealerships parking lot lights but it looks very clean. Some of the wheels have some curb rash but I will be getting them refinished. I need to talk to my detailing guy and have him go over the whole truck. On the ride home, my father couldn't believe how I left him from the toll. He drives a 2010 Volvo S80 awd turbo. He was in the easy pass lane and I had to pay change and I caught up and blew by him so fast he had to call me on the phone to say something. I think I'm going to enjoy this truck a lot.
jdoc7 12-21-2010, 02:16 PM Congrats! Glad all turned out well! Welcome to the group!!
