Does anyone know if any settings can be adjusted when the vehicle is started remotely?

I want to change the following:

-Heated seats turn on
-Vehicle runs as long as I want
-Stereo turns off

No one is going to let you run a car as long as you want. Think about it. What if this feature was enabled on a car in a your home garage.

I would like my seats to be on. My older Grand Cherokees had a selector switch which you could just leave in the "on" position when you last shut off the car. The push button stuff doesn't allow for that.

I know the new Tahoes warm up the seats automatically with remote start and they have the whole "push button" warmers as well.

hmmm, I thought the heated seats turned on automatically if the outside temp was low enough. I was not able to find a setting for adjusting the run time, I would also like that.

If you've got a garage, i'm not sure why you would need to have your vehicle warm up anyways....but when it's -30C outside it would be nice for it to run for longer than 10 minutes. I know new Chev and GM trucks have the feature for the heated seats to turn on and they are the push button style as well.

The seat heater I agree with you, but no manf (OEM or after market) is going to let a car run for more than 20 mins. It's a lawsuit waiting to happen. The car runs for a hour or more could kill the people in the house. That is what America has come too. People looking to sue for anything to make a quick buck.

It is also a safety feature:

a) You start the car and get side tracked and forget it's running.
b) A young child is playing with your keys and starts the car without your knowledge.

Viper Smart start will run for 20 mins and allow you to restart the car, but the oem remote start is what it is....

I would love to have my heated seats come on too. THe defrost and rear wiondow defrost come on when it's cold enough, why not the heated seats.

I agree that you cannot allow the vehicle to run forever. It needs a timer.

Are you sure your rear window defrost comes on with the remote start?

Mine has never done that.

Positive.

Defrost and rear window come on with remote start at around 32deg. It might be a Canadian thing programmed in but I would thing you would have the same thing in Pennsylvania.

My defrost and Rear defrost comes on below freezing weather yet the heated seats do not turn on for my 2010... so I'm guessing its not an automatic thing....

I thought it was pretty cool when both defrosts were on the other morning. My gf's Honda has the ability to leave the seat warmers on so when you start the car they crank up. There is probably a liability issue with the remote start in conjunction with the seat warmers.

Not to thread jack but I read about a law in DC about running your car without you in it. I was researching because I left a night club and started my truck (before the Jeep I had an Aviator) as these cops walked by. He turns around and sees me walking towards it so he made sure to tell me he could write me a fine for "illegal idling" I looked it up and apparently you can't have your car running unoccupied for more than 3 minutes in Washington DC. Other major cities could have similar laws so heads up.

Same in Denver, but my salesman said the loophole is the key isn't in the vehicle, and you can't drive it without. Haven't tested that theory with a cop though. ;)

The auto defrost must be an 08+ thing. My 07 does not do it. Man I wish the seat warmer would be on with the auto start.

its interesting that there is no mention in the owners manual of these accessories turning on in cold temperatures. I checked wkjeeps and did some googling as well. I know that my rear window defrost comes on and inside heat as well. Not sure yet about my heated seats.

It's actually mostly a state statute, not just a municipal ordinance, and most states will have a statue preventing an unattended vehicle from being run.

It is a state statute in CO, and probably a Denver Municipal code as well. Salesman is wrong, the statute doesn't say anything about a key, it merely regards the vehicle being running while unattended. You'll be hard pressed to find a cop who will actually cut you a ticket for it though, unless your car gets stolen because of it.

Florida has the same law about a car idling with no one in it. I used to get flack from Cops with my turbo timers. I told them to get in and try to drive it. The second they hit the brake it shut off. They have to either be a Rookie or a complete a hole to give you a ticket IMO. A judge would just love hearing this case clogging up his docket.

The blower actually overides whatever the fan is set to in cold weather and goes to full-blast defrost, then when you turn the key it goes back to its proper setting.

Ditto on the seats tho, no excuse for them not coming on. I alos used to think heated steering wheels were a stupid idea but I wish they had upgraded them for the '09 and '10s.

I wonder if there is some setting in the starscan to enable/disable accessories like defrost with the remote start.
