Im even scared to ask why my friend.
How is the new PCV valve different/better?
HP gain?:D
generalconfusion 06-12-2007, 09:10 PM The fact that they revised the part# tells you they changed it. I did this when I installed the oil seperator.

Just incase you're wondering what a PCV Valve does (like I was :D ).
Inferno SRT8 06-12-2007, 10:08 PM Read below the most important paragraph in the entire article, the PCV is $5 bucks, do the math.
It is critical that the parts of the PCV system be kept clean and open, otherwise air flow will be insufficient. A plugged or malfunctioning PCV system will eventually damage an engine.
SRT8UUP 06-13-2007, 06:15 AM So with this simple swap, is the catch can still necessary?
DavesSRT8 06-13-2007, 08:41 AM At minimum, I would do the catch can. Replace PCV valve if you want, but leave catch can on.
I went through the same thing with Ford several years back - 'stronger' PCV valves, etc. still caught oil in catch can, no matter what the revised part numbers were.
Been running them on my vehicles ever since. For Jeep, it started collecting oil on day one, and the occasional white puff is gone. Exhaust tips seem cleaner - they don't seem to get black too quickly, although I realize alot is from our Jeeps running rich.
I am a believer in the catch can theory.

Mango 06-13-2007, 09:39 AM This is annoying...since I didn't get a part # from this thread...my dealer can't order the new one for me. The part # they show in their computer is:
5037-831AA
He says there are 152 of these sitting in the warehouse, and most likely it's OLD stock since it's dealer stock.
There is not TSB listing for this either.
Can someone PLEASE POST the REVISED part #.
kthanks.

Agreed... Some dealers will still have the old ones layin' around
Mango 06-13-2007, 10:03 AM Well not only that...but his computer didn't even SHOW any other existing part #. So he couldn't order it, since to his DCX computer a "new" or "revised" one does not exist.
So...a new part # would really help, if in fact there is a new one.
3336jmh 06-15-2007, 02:28 PM Hey Inferno if you bought one and installed it then you must have the part# somewhere. I think that alot of people would be interested in this.
