: I'm In LOVE . . . .
RUDE8 06-11-2007, 01:43 PM Just had the new Borla S-Type cat backs installed this morning. Cost me $103 to have swapped at Midas.
Whoa nellie do these suckers sound mean. And its not a straight pipe Chevy pick-up sounding mean, its BAD AZZZ sounding mean.
The great part for me is that just cruising around, idle speed and what not you don't really notice them. But when you get on it . . . WOW, its the real deal . . . and everyone around you knows it.
If you don't like people looking, don't get these. They will look thinking either 'What the f**k is that??' or 'Holy sh*t, that thing sounds tight!!'.
I am very pleased and hope to hear more from anyone else here who gets them.
Phil
timster 06-11-2007, 02:10 PM Congrats, I bet it sounds mean.
I just this weekend installed a B&B cat back. It is a killer sounding system also...probably not as loud as the Borla, but pretty loud none-the-less.

Funny thing you replying to this, I actually talked about you when I went there (Midas) and referred to your sick 3.79 0-60 time. The guys there were in awe when I told them . . .

Derwood98 06-11-2007, 04:56 PM Congrats. You will be getting a whole lot more attention now. I sure am.. :D I even had a guy come into my place of business today and ask me to start it up. Was kinda cool.
aplatero1984 06-11-2007, 07:59 PM Looks great man! can't wait to get an exhaust on mine!!
sbkim 06-11-2007, 08:12 PM Phil - congrats! Looks really solid. I am still on the fence between the Type S and touring. I've had borla's on my Viper before. I started out with quieter version and I ended up with louder version within months. I don't want to make that mistake again but I want to confirm that under cruise/idle it's not that bad (ie. close to stock)? So it's 98db only during WOT?
Thanks
esq76 06-11-2007, 08:26 PM How is it only $103.00????

Again . . . I can't speak for all Borla S-Type owners of course.
When cruising at about any speed thus far FOR ME I have been pleasantly surprised by the apparent non-existence of any level of loudness above the stock exhaust. In fact, I was sitting on the couch tonight after dinner (about 730pm) and decided I wanted to make sure there wasn't a drone at highway speeds. I took her out on I 270 to see what she sounded like at 60+ mph cruising. After bursting onto the highway from the ramp and merging into the center lane and cruising for about 20 seconds, I looked down and saw I was going 80mph. I was excited for two reasons . . . 1) the perceived quickness by which I seemed to get to 80 (perceived being the key word here) and 2) that I noticed zero drone. And YES, I actually had the radio/Sirius/iPod off (that never happens). I truly can say the cruisng/idle is not noticeable. Startup? Oh yeah, very noticeable. Cruising? NOT noticeable.
However, I must say that ANYTIME you accelerate or give it some pedal, you KNOW you have the Borla on there . . . and you are happy!
Thanks,
Phil

^^ What he said.
RUDE8 06-12-2007, 08:36 AM I'm not sure what the consensus is here on whether or not there are any power gains associated with adding catbacks in general or more specifically the Borla S-type, but my tires seem more apt to leave black marks on the hot pavement now than before. Long story short, its easier by far to leave both rear tire marks 12-18 inches long on each side with very little effort with the new setup than with stock.
Of course, it could be due to warmer weather too, not sure.
Anyone care to chime in on the possibility I may have added or horse or torque lb or two?

T-Time 06-12-2007, 10:02 AM Glad you love the new system. Get in line, it's becoming long and distinguished. Ha!
I went on a little 2 day roadtrip 300 miles each way. It was so nice to get the rig out on some sweet rollinghills. Don't get me wrong this thing is awesome stoplight to stoplight, But I think this thing is a great touring vehicle also. Ah, when you kick it down a gear or two, what a Hemi Symphony..
I noticed that while in drive and slowing down you can actual hear the autotrans. downshifting and it sounds soooo cool. I never heard that before.
The only neg. point I can think of with this exhaust is when your in 4 of 5 gear at a slow speed, this exhaust has such a low pitch, it sounds a little untuned or groggy. But I easily rectify(sp.) that with the old autoshifter!!
Don't get me wrong I wouldn't change a thing!!!
Worth every penny!

OurZoo 06-12-2007, 01:18 PM I have experienced all that was said and usually use the autostick while driving around town for that reason.
