I'm looking at the Truck Trend "July/August 2007" with the Transformer's Big Rig on the front.

On page 54, they did a two page "comparo" of Factory Power Mongers. (i.e. BMW X5 4.8, SRT8, TBSS, AMG M63, Cayenne Turbo, Range Rover Sport S/C, etc.)

Anyway, here's the quote:
"Finally, we've considered each for it's strong bang-for-the-buck proposition. In the end, our editors felt there's no getting away from the tremendous balance between price and sheer brawn that the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 offers, running clost to the supreme power hitters from Mercedes and Porsche at less than half the cost. And you get a Hemi."

FYI, they only rated the Jeep at a 4.8 0-60 with the ML63 4.5 and Porsche 4.9.

I posted the same thing last week, just off the top of my head though...thanks for the details.
Finally we get some credit from a car mag.

They must have done the 0 to 60 testing in a rain storm, with 4 people in it....and bags of mulch in the back.

Thanks Ex-SVTMan!

Sorry if I missed your post and good find last week. I wish there was more meat to the article, but at least it's good press.

I had three Christmas trees in the back with soil on Sunday and did better 0-60...

At least they rated the Porsche 4.9....

No prob man,
You had the details and it's good info...nice job.
Yeah the article was prob a 100 words long but whatever, we got the biggest pic of our truck in the article, so still a win for the Jeep boys.

I swear these car mag guys cant even launch correctly, on my worst day no higher then 4.2 0-60

Pass them another bong hit before the drive.

My worst time came the other night...muggy as hell around 85degr and I launched without break stalling....it was a magazine like- 4.41sec :o

I'd like to apologize to the SRT Community for this, I'll make it up.....just give me a chance....:p

Brake stalling actually hurts your 0-60 times.

It seems to work for me Inferno...every time I've done it vs not doing it, I've gotten better times.
Hmmm...maybe I'll retest this again soon.

Same here, do you go from idle?

No idle....I usually brake torque to about 1300rpm then let her rip....
The other night I went from idle and got my worse time ever 4.41, but the temp was hot and I had some heatsoak so I'm not sure it was the launch that affected me...oh well.

Similar here Ex SVT, but I seem to get my best times by Brake torquing to 1500-1800.
How do you do it Inferno ? I want to try your way and compare

Tried every brake torque w/Dashhawk from idle to 2000 RPM. on a nice flat deserted road, and found best one (3.92s 0-60, ESP off) was 1800 RPM. Elevation around here is approx 300 feet above sea level.

Seems to give best 60 foot times at the track also.

Claude I tried brake stalling at the track and lost time on mine, so I just run it off idle now.
