parked up in the snow on Saturday
my rear wheels were in snow front on tarmac
came to move off and all i got was wheel spin from the rear
there was a slight incline to the tarmac but i got stuck could not get any traction to front
just looked as though all drive was going to rear
front wheels did not spin at all
was stuck there until i got so pissed off i just floored it and eventually got traction
is this normal or do i have a problem

i do not think you have a problem. the srt is a pos in snow and ice compared to any of the other jeeps i have owned. turn off the traction control and it will be a little better. for the first winter i thought it was 2 wheel drive. 4 snows will help, but nothing like the non srt jeeps, this is our 6th jeep.

I had the same thing happen at the beach in the sand. The SRT8 is not a true 4WD.

Mine did that a little bit once. But I turned off the traction control and got out just fine. I have been driving in North Dakota snow for weeks now and this thing has done GREAT! I've managed to make it through some stuff our company F-250 4x4s have gotten hung up in. I am actually surprised by that considering I am running the stock Goodyears.

as previously said., our jeeps are not TRUE 4wd... however, anytime in snow or sand, turn off traction control throw it in first and give it some gas. you should have no problem getting out. I thought the same thing the first time i took my jet ski to the lake. Nothing but sand in and out and i had a hell of a time driving thru. until i turned off TC. then it pulled right out

This is from a previous post about the same problem, posted by Wink from the manual..... "Partial Off
This mode is entered by momentarily pressing the "ESP OFF” switch. When in “Partial Off" mode, the TCS portion of ESP, except for the “limited slip” feature described in the TCS section, has been disabled and the “ESP/TCS Indicator Light” will be illuminated. All other stability features of ESP function normally. This mode is intended to be used if the vehicle is in deep snow, sand, or gravel conditions and more wheel spin than ESP would normally allow is required to gain traction."
NOTE: To improve the vehicle’s traction when driving with snow chains, or starting off in deep snow, sand, or gravel, it may be desirable to switch to the “ESP Partial Off” mode by pressing the “ESP OFF” switch. Once the situation requiring ESP to be switched to the “ESP Partial Off” mode is overcome, turn ESP back on by momentarily pressing the “ESP OFF” switch. This may be done while the vehicle is in motion.
If you made several revolutions of the rear tires w/no front engaging? When you floored it, it may have then sent power up front. Test it out somewhere w/the TC off.
