: New Tech Tips/DIY Section Added + New Moderator!
Rambit 12-03-2010, 03:56 PM With great pleasure, and long overdue at that, we are pleased to announce a new section to this site, Tech Tips / DIY (http://www.cherokeesrt8.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=132)!
This section includes:
Tech Tips - DIY - How-To
Tech Tips For Review
FAQ Archives
Please welcome our newest staff addition, jdoc7 (Jeff), who has graciously come forward and volunteered his services and is our Tech Tips/DIY Moderator!
We encourage all members to submit threads in the Tech Tips For Review forum by following the GUIDELINES HERE (http://www.cherokeesrt8.com/forums/announcement.php?f=133&a=10). Once threads are submitted they will undergo both a peer and moderator review before being moved to their final resting place.

Knuckles 12-03-2010, 04:03 PM Thanks for the new section and congratulations to Jeff for volunteering!!
Rambit 12-03-2010, 04:03 PM I should add that if anyone has previously done one of these threads, please PM me the link so I can move the thread. Thanks in advance!
Bernie
Rambit 12-03-2010, 08:46 PM Thanks to Chad for getting the ball rolling on this. He sent me his Tech Tip that I've since moved into the review area for Jeff to have a look at - http://www.cherokeesrt8.com/forums/showthread.php?t=44587.
From there it will be moved into the Tech Tips forum and only contain the OP's posts in the closed thread. Feel free to give your peer impressions in that thread in the meantime. Hopefully we can get many more member submissions. Just send me a link to your thread and thanks in advance!!!
EDIT: I should add that if you have a NEW Tech Tip to offer, feel free to start a new thread in the Review forum, but please read the Guideline announcement at the top of that section first so it follows the format of what we're trying to create.

CentralTexHemi 12-03-2010, 09:49 PM I need to get back with BJB and have him tell me where his guy found a keyed power source under the dash where the fuse box is, I saw it when we were wiring up his trinity/wideband for datalogging it would make the process quicker but my power source is all I could find for now.

SrtJake 12-04-2010, 11:47 AM Awesome news,it's always nice to see improvements!
Wade, for mine I used a "Fuse Tap" from Radio shack. It is a small piece of metal that accepts a female connector on the end and you can run whatever you want off of whatever fuse you want.

squigmang 12-04-2010, 01:11 PM Awesome new section. And Jeff deserves a big "atta boy" for stepping up!
jdoc7 12-06-2010, 08:20 AM Hey, thanks guys! Like Rambit said, this has been a long time coming and I'm happy to play a role. Sorry, my internet access was down all weekend and continues to be so (i'm at office right now). Once it's up and running again, I will be updating the "Tech Tips for Review" section. I am hoping that we can get YOUR feedback on tech threads as well. Once reviewed, I can move them permanently into the "Tech Tips-DIY-How to" section for future reference.
CentralTexHemi 12-06-2010, 08:31 AM HAHA your in purple now
Rambit 12-06-2010, 09:04 AM The Purple Nurple has arrived!!!
I should add that anyone finding solutions to Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's) that you feel would be suitable for that section, please send me the link so I can move those threads. In time this will help new members seeking answers to these commonly asked questions. Some examples of this would be how to reset the oil change reminder in 2008+ Jeeps, selecting the correct t-stat, what anti-freeze to use etc. You get the picture, it's the questions that get asked a million times.

CanuckGCSRT8 12-11-2010, 09:06 PM So when is something going to get posted there? I was going to post a thread on transfer case oil changes which would be a great DIY project but don't have privileges. Can the minions not post there?
ETA: I guess I should have read the first post better....I will submit something asap.
Rambit 12-11-2010, 09:19 PM Yes, for sure minions can post in that section, but it has to be done in the Tech Tips for Review forum - http://www.cherokeesrt8.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=134.
From there, once approved, it'll be moved into the Tech Tips/DIY forum.
