They increase line pressure, which makes it shift firmer/harder. Some say they work great and may help the stock trans last a little longer with higher hp jeeps....and some say they are too harsh on shifting/downshifting.

I have a pair of these sitting at home, and I'm still on the fence if I will use them or not.

Few questions. Where do u get them? How many? Is it a diy thing? Will it hurt if i put them in my jeep with only around 460 hp( no at wheels) i did notice after joham toons n rwvisions that the shift from 1st to 2nd is a neck breaka. Will the help with that??

I'll have to find the thread that Sarge posted...it has part numbers and site to get them from. They are all MB parts. It is a diy thing, just gets a little dirty under there from what I've seen. I also got a new trans pan that has a drain plug for easier draining and removal for later on. I'd recommend grabbing a trans filter and new gasket while you at it for a few extra bucks.

It may actually make that shift even more of a neck breaker .... someone with more knowledge will have to chime in on that..... And I dont believe the hp level matters too much

I dont believe a new tune is needed. I asked Johan and he said it doesnt do anything to your tune since its not fuel related, but he may be able to ease the harsh shifts if he worked on it. Not sure how he can do that but I'll take his word on it. haha.. So it should be a swap and go thing.

Sure, you can get the filter and gasket from the dealer or autoparts store I'm sure. I just got all the mercedes parts online at the same time. solenoids, filter, etc..

You don't need Blue Tops ... read Steve's (Sarge) commentary, he removed them and installed a stock valve body. The Blue Tops do the opposite and will increase the neck snapping experience on upshifts and downshifts. You really need to ask yourself if that's what you want for a daily driver. It may be fun for awhile feeling a hard shift as it jumps ahead between gears, I would seriously question if this adds value to performance.

I asked Overby's about this and they have their own opinion as well as Bill White AA Machine in Irwindale... a old guy (engineer) that worked for Chrysler years ago and now builds bullet proof 727s. You don't need a hard shifting trans to prove anything. It's hard on driveline components.

I had the Blue tops and they were terrible. The upshifts stayed the same as how the Toona has them in the CMR Tune and the down shifts were so bad I thought I was going to go thru the windshield. I also had a clunk eeven before I installed the Blue tops and when I installed the Blue Tops it made the clunk even worse, which made me think I had a rear end problem. Well after taking the Jeep into the dealer they said my stock vavlebody had a stuck vlve in it, so they installed a new Valvebody and the clunk went away. So for now no Blue Tops for me. How ever I drove Paulos Jeep and I have to say that his Stage 2 valvebody is really nice with firm and qucik upshifts and same as stock down shifts. Also his Jeep would not clunk on downshifts either.

Still lovin' my blue tops. Shifts crisp and clean @ WOT and sporty around town. The downshifts can be aggressive at slow speeds at times but I noticed after Johan revised my tune that it is smoother now...not as clunky.

I especially like the downshifts coming into a corner, feels almost like its rev matching. :)

When I had my Blue Tops I asked Johan to see if he could reduce the line pressure on downshifts and he said he could but it would take away from my upshifts. He said there is not much he can do on the Blue tops.

I had the blue tops installed in my trans and they were just fine. The shifts were firmer and weren't as bad as Knuckles is saying. They were fine even with the 426, if it wasn't for the flexplate issue, I'd still be using them and the stock trans.
I say go for it.

I have them. They're not too bad. Took a couple days to get use to, now I don't even realize they're there most of the time. Biggest thing you'll notice is the first time you fire it up and punch the selector into reverse or drive, the car lurches with force in either direction due to the line pressure.

Overall, I like them. Only reason I'd take them out is if I got Paulo's trans rebuild kit with stage 2 VB Builder Bill is selling.
