First off, I have a 2007 Jeep (http://www.cherokeesrt8.com/forums/showthread.php?p=666216#) SRT8 with a stock Boston Acoustics speakers.
Hey, I purchased my car (http://www.cherokeesrt8.com/forums/showthread.php?p=666216#) with an aftermarket sound system. It had the stock head unit- but it had aftermarket front speakers/ tweeters, rear speakers, aftermarket amplifier and a RE-Q Smart volume sensing bass restoration module that I believe worked as a converter from the stock speakers to the aftermarket amplifier. The speakers worked, all the volume controls worked but the only problem is that the sound was a little/ slightly choppy when playing the radio, SAT radio, CD from the head unit. But when I turned the 3.5mm AUX input that fed directly into the amplifier (and not through the head unit) it would sound crisp and clean as the speakers should have. We tried installing ground loop isolators, and noise filters from the head unit to the RE-Q5 converter but that did not help the noise distortion from the head-unit to the amp which caused bad sound quality to omit from the speakers..
So after a few months of this poor quality sound we decided to replace the aftermarket system with the stock Boston Acoustics speakers. We started disconnecting the ReQ-5, the amplifier, and all the aftermarket speakers. We reconnected all the stock speakers which still had the wiring to the rear amplifier which was located behind the drivers side rear trunk panel and all the speakers work with the exception that more (audio) comes out of the tweeters instead of the speakers in the door. The rear speakers sound more like tweeters than speakers. The audio is now clear and crisp but in comparison to my other 2006 Jeep grand Cherokee (http://www.cherokeesrt8.com/forums/showthread.php?p=666216#) which has more (audio) coming out of the door speakers instead of the tweeters... It is the opposite of my SRT8.
I could not find any wiring that has been switched. The T-Taps used to tap into the aftermarket system are still connected to the wires (obviously the female disconnects are taken out) but the T-Tap is still connected, could this cause enough interference to completely eliminate sound from the front speakers? I don't think so.
What I want to ask is when somebody installs an aftermarket system in a 2007 Jeep SRT8 Are they supposed to disconnect something or change something in the stock amplifier that may have changed something around either physically or electronically (internally in the amplifier) that is not feeding direct sound to my speakers?
My tweeters have direct sound, and my speakers have muffled bass sound and a little high pitch (kind of like a tweeter)...
My tweeters sound like my speakers/ vice versa.
If you can help at all, please respond to this post. I don't know much about Jeep, but I am highly qualified in Diesel engines (http://www.cherokeesrt8.com/forums/showthread.php?p=666216#) and Audi's...
Thanks in advance.
