: Rims cleaned without touching them
GodfatherSRT8 06-08-2007, 07:21 PM Guys I just used mothers wheel cleaner and this is the result. All I did was spray it on, let it sit for 2 mins, and wash it off. Dryed it after with a soft cloth after. Check out the inside of the rim. Sorry about the crappy phone pic,as the wife took my Nokia. Keep in mind that I have never cleaned the inside of the rims since I bought the beast 1 year ago.

ARH1956 06-08-2007, 07:24 PM I'll stay away from the Mother's products as it makes the wheels blurry. Thanks for the head's up.
2MCHPSI 06-08-2007, 07:33 PM Which Mothers Wheel cleaner? They have a few different ones. Has anyone had any luck with the power ball?
GodfatherSRT8 06-08-2007, 07:38 PM This one.

tawny 06-08-2007, 08:02 PM No good luck with the power ball yet, it catches and jerks and ends up taking more time than rag, especially with simple wheel designs like ours.

Agreed and the polish I used didn't really seem to make the wheel look any better.

These wheels are clear coated!!! Don't use the power ball!
Just wax it.

Yes, we know these wheels are clear coated. I used polish intended for a clear coated wheel.
HawaiianGroove 06-09-2007, 01:55 AM Can anyone suggest a different wheel cleaner then mothers?

I have been using "Foam Away" from Turtle Wax and the stuff is amazing. It is basically a waterless car wash system, (but I would never use it on paint), to help quickly remove surface dust. Just spray on, let it foam, wipe it, and then shine it. My wheels look clean all the time, and since it leaves a coat of wax on the rim it really helps with the build up of brake dust, and brake dust removal is easy. Here is the link:

DavesSRT8 06-09-2007, 06:52 AM I use Griots Garage wheel cleaner. If you read their writeup, you'll see all the manufacturers endorsements, etc.
However, in between, as long as your wheels are waxed (I use Zaino), I use the new California Car Duster 'Fork Duster', specifically designed for wheels/brake dust. Works great in between detailing, gets all the stuff behind the spokes and provides a quick touch up (takes me <2m for entire truck). The dirtier it gets, the better it works.
Been using for about 2 months now, and love it. It's blue, has a white handle and is sold at Pep Boys.

:) Then why would one use a powerball on them? That could burn up the clearcoat!
2MCHPSI 06-10-2007, 10:01 PM I went to Wal-Mart, Meijer, AutoZone, Advanced Auto Parts, Murray's - to my surprise... NO ONE carries this stuff.
Where did you get it from?
GodfatherSRT8 06-10-2007, 10:05 PM Pep boys. Picked up another bottle today.
2MCHPSI 06-11-2007, 07:03 PM Thanks! Go figure, the only place I don't check has a case-full sitting there.
ROLLINHI 06-11-2007, 08:26 PM i hate the finish on our wheels...wish they came chromed...so much easier to keep bling...furthermore...has anyone taken the clearcoat off and gave the wheels a true polish? I have seen it done on some other factory wheels and know it's a lot of work...but damn...they look good that way.
