Is it possible to install a factory nav unit into an SRT8 that did not originally have it? I am looking at one without nav but I want to install one.

To answer your question yes, thats what I did. My srt8 couldn't be factory ordered so the dealer installed the nav. By the way this is my first post, I've had the jeep for a week (400 miles) and love it.

Congrats Craig.
I did the same, installed it myself. 100% Plug and play.

Let me know if you decide to go this route. I will make you a decent deal on mine.

Cool so it will plug right in? Do I need a new dash piece?

Yessir.

I got a new nav kit including the latest version DVD navteq disc and generic GPS antenna/cable (not Jeep specific) off ebay. The Jeep specific GPS antenna (mounts behind radio versus above gauge cluster) has a L-bracket allowing easy screw-in mounting behind radio. I had some scrap sheet metal, so I made my own bracket and mounted it behind the radio just like from the factory.
