Hey, to the guys who have had an aftermarket TQ converter installed, how much time and money did it cost. Just talkin it over with my installer and said it looks like a headache and will be much more than my LX($300)
Fred
It's pretty much the same as the LX except you have to remove the transfer case and front driveshaft. Well you don't have to remove the transfer case but it makes it easier. It's the same trans as the LX too.

It took us about 3 hours to do mine. We left the transfer case and tranny hooked together.

Thanks guys, was removal of one or both of the headers required?

You don't need to remove any headers. You just remove the midpipes.
Undo the front and rear driveshaft, midpipes, center crossmember, drop tranny and transfer case together, unbolt and drain old TC, fill new TC, install new tc, reinstall everything. Top off a little tranny fluid, and you're done. It's not as hard as you would think. There may be a little more detail than I wrote but that's about it. That's all that needs to be removed IIRC.
We had a lift of course and a tranny jack which made it easy. We strap ratcheted the trans/transfer to the jack to hold it and did the TC removal on the jack. Good luck. Lemme check to see if I have any pics of the install but I don't think I took my camera that day.
