Hey all,

I'm starting to get annoyed by the brake noise coming from the Jeep (sounds like grinding at slow stops (~15k miles), and I don't really hear it during everyday driving).

I have heard that the brake calipers are interchangeable between the LXSRT8's and the GCSRT8's. Since this is the case, can't the GC brake system be upgraded to the same slotted rotors that the LXSRT8's received in their TSB? (albeit at an out of pocket cost)

I'd probably go w/ new aftermarket pads as well.

Or does it make sense to just upgrade to an aftermarket rotor?

Thoughts?

This has been hit on so many times. try brakeworld.com I upgraded about 6 mnths. ago and it is the best thing i have done to my SRT. You Get drilled rotors and pads that never leave any dust and the brakes stop much better then the stock ones.

Be careful which pads you go with. I also went with cross drilled/slotted rotors with Hawk Plus pads for the rear and Gold Rotex on the front. I'm pretty sure it's the Hawk pads ... but the brakes now are embarrassing. I've more than bedded them in at this point and have given up on trying to even make them livable. As soon as my tools get here... I'll be taking the things apart to see if I can find anything to make them a little more quiet (ie. quiet grease, shaving pad edges). They look great but damm it's embarrassing trying to stop quietly. No dust either by the way. I could live with the dust if they were quiet. The originals I had were quiet right up to the day I burned off the pads at the race track.
